Do you meet clients expectations?
Right now there might be a lot of clients expectations you don’t know about. Because…well…how could you? There are way too many unusual things going on for you to know how everybody feels about everything. And that’s not a realistic goal even in the best of times. But if you don’t have a fairly good handle on what people expect from businesses and services like yours, then don’t be surprised when you don’t get more clients. Or customers.
Clients expectations should always be met.
OK, I used that little subhead to get your attention. Because the exact opposite is true. For example, let’s say you run a car repair shop. And let’s say customers expect you to throw in a free oil change or a new tire with every repair you make. Is that a fair expectation? And will you do your best to meet or exceed it? Of course not.
On the other hand, clients or customers of an auto repair shop should be able to expect to get a repair done well and on time. And they should be able to expect they’ll get their car back in clean condition. Right?
So, if you want to be sure you get less clients and customers, then forget about keeping track of anything. Just do your work. Get ’em out. And get the next one in. If they liked your work, they’ll be back. Right?
Maybe. Maybe not. But here’s what’s for sure. You can’t keep everything in your head. Or on a scribbled piece of paper that gets lost in the tornado you call your desk. Sooner or later you’ll “pay the piper.” With lost business. And with angry customers.
