I’m definitely not against hard work. Because people who work hard tend to be more successful and tend to lead happier lives. It’s not a hard and fast rule. But it’s generally true. So, I’m certainly not against that.
But I AM against hard work you don’t have to do.
Here’s a video I shared a couple of years ago that explains what I mean by that…
It’s true that keeping your business pipeline full and working for you is hard work. But when you understand which of your three business-building units to focus on, you can make it feel almost easy.
All those un-referred people you might try to pursue don’t know you. So, they’re not warmed up to you or your wonderful ideas. And that’s why that kind of marketing is called “cold marketing.” But that’s probably not the best business-building unit to focus a lot of attention on.
But then…you’ve got a whole ‘nother group of people who are already working with you. Those are the kind of people who can refer others to you. Plus, they might even repeat business with you themselves. And that kind of marketing is so much nicer. Warmer. Because they already know, like, and trust you enough to say good things about you.
And even better than that is…you didn’t have to do anything extra. Just provide good products and services. And let your actions speak for themselves. Then your customers talk you up, too.
But maybe you forgot about a third group.
Past clients. The ones who liked what you did for them or sold to them. They’re just not currently working with you. But maybe they could use your products or services again now. Or maybe they’d be willing to tell others what a good job you did for them.
You can continue to do just the hard work each day. Send out cold emails. Make cold calls. Publish cold social media posts to cold demographics. Or…you can focus on those two groups of people who can help you warm things up. Especially when you set up a System that helps you automate a lot of the steps.
It’s your choice. But I bet you can figure out what I recommend.
Something else I recommend is that you subscribe to my daily emails. For zero moolah. And you’ll get lots of tips and ideas from me. Plus, there’s a free business-building tool when you subscribe. So, click or tap that link and let’s go.
