Die trying doesn't have to include the dying part

“I’ll make this store a success or die trying!”

Selena (not her real name) always had a thing for shoes. And that’s putting it mildly. Even as a little girl she’d spend hours in her bedroom setting up her own little store. And she’d imagine all the other girls buying their shoes from her.

So, it certainly wasn’t a giant leap when, as a young woman, she decided to open her own real shoe store. But not just any ol’ boring sticks and bricks shoe store. No, Selena had a clear vision for an online boutique that would cater to women who loved shoes as much as she did. If that was possible.

And the day finally came when she could afford to quit her dead-end corporate job. With the help of a webmaster, she set up her online store. And that’s when she made that vow I mentioned earlier. “I’ll make STEP INSIDE a resounding success or die trying.”

And, at first, she thought she might die trying for real.

Because the first few months were grueling. Lots of late nights, meticulously curating the perfect collection of unique, stylish footwear. And since her budget was far from high-end, Selena had to wear all the hats. Designer, marketer, customer service rep, and even the packer.

But her determination to build a successful store drove her forward every day. She found some ways to use social media to reach potential customers. And she discovered that when she shared her personal journey and her love for shoes, she got the attention of others like her.

Orders started to trickle in. Then, positive reviews and word-of-mouth referrals kicked things up several notches. It wasn’t long till she introduced customized shoe fittings and offered personal styling advice. And that really helped her stand out in the crowded shoe market.

After about 14 months of hard work, Step Inside was more than just a shoe store. It was a thriving community. A resounding success. And Selena didn’t even die trying.

And her story is why I can just about one hundred percent guarantee you won’t die as you start pursuing your dream. Yeah, what if you actually followed your dream with fire and determination like Selena did? And what if you actually got what you wanted?

It’s that ol’ mindset thing you might have heard about.

There’s sort of a mysterious, invisible force that builds inside you when you think and believe you CAN achieve what you want. Yeah, it’s sort of like the more you believe you can do it, the more likely you can achieve it. And at the very least, you’ll just flat out feel better when you focus on the life you really want.

When you feel better, you’re more likely to take action. And, when you take action, boom!  Action takers don’t tend to have regrets. At least not about not going for it. So, live big. Live positive.

And give yourself the best shot at success. Learn to automate and delegate. And my RondaReady Business Hub system can help you do that in some mighty useful ways.

But I’m not gonna share those ways right now. Because I’d like to know more about what you’ve got going first. So, how ’bout this? Schedule a time to talk with me. And let’s see if setting up a hub can help you build your business better and faster.

24 hours to live sure changes things

When Deborah found out she had only 24 hours to live, she sat down to write a list. Sounds like a logical place to start. Right? Well, it might have come after the initial shock and panic. Either way, it’s a good start.

Because when you’ve only got 24 hours to live, every minute counts.

So, she wrote down the name of the list. And she called it “24 Hours To Live Well”

Then she thought about what was truly important to her, and she compiled a bullet list:

  • Come up with 7 nuggets of helpful advice for life
  • Write letters to the kids and share those nuggets
  • Call close friends and family to share the news
  • Invite them over for one last picnic in the back yard
  • Ask everyone to share favorite stories
  • Share a story about hope for the future
  • Take one last, long walk along the beach
  • Soak in the beautiful sunset
  • Listen to favorite music
  • Meditate on all the love that filled my life

I’d say those are some awesome final day bullet points. Wouldn’t you?

If you found out you only had 24 hours to live, what would you do? Does Deborah’s list sound like how you’d like that day to go? One thing’s for sure. Your to-do list would get real focused real fast.

But, here’s the thing.

You don’t know, because nobody knows, when your last day will be. So, why wait till whatever day that is to have some of your favorite things on your daily to-do list? Why not go ahead and get real focused real fast? And do it today.

I recommend you don’t stay the course that doesn’t work.

You probably take time to work out. Because you know that when you build up your physical muscles, you enjoy additional benefits like better metabolism, digestion, and endurance. But, it’s crucial to also build up your mental and emotional muscles. Especially if you’re a business owner, entrepreneur, or wannabe. And you gotta pump up your belief in your ideas. And increase your commitment to stay the course.

Or even adjust your course when needed.

One adjustment I recommend is to set up a business hub. Because when you have that kind of system working for you, it’s kinda like getting that 24 hours to live focus working for you every day. And it gives you the opportunity to be, virtually, in more places at one time.

But I’m not gonna give you the full benefits list right now. Because I’d like to know more about what you’ve got going first. So, I encourage you to schedule a time to talk with me to see if we can help you build your business better and faster with the RondaReady System hub.

Tuesday motivation that was kinda crowd funded

Who needs some Tuesday motivation? I bet you’re good to go. But apparently there are a lot of people who need some sort of shot in the arm, so to speak, to get them off and running.

So, here’s a large slice of Tuesday motivation I found on social media today.

These are direct snippets off a couple of channels. And I promise I didn’t make any of them up. And I’ll share why I didn’t once you get through them. Right now it’s Tuesday. So, here’s your motivation:

You don’t need anything valuable to smile, just a heart in your chest and a feeling in your heart.

Friendship is not collection of hearts but it is selection of hearts. All friends are not true. But true friends are very few, living my best life.

Some people create their own cool!

Life is not always perfect, but you can choose to face it with a smile Your mood is your own, be happy for yourself!

“A gentle word, a kind look, a good-natured smile can work wonders and accomplish miracles.”

“BE YOU”

When the wrong people leave your life , the right things start to happen.

Every day is a fresh opportunity to chase your dreams and become the best version of yourself. Remember, the difference between who you are and who you want to be is what you do today. So let’s make it count!

Og Mandino reminds us, ‘The important thing is that we must constantly move forward… and our growth should never end.’

Charles Dickens once said, ‘The best way to lengthen out our days is to walk steadily and with a purpose.’ As leaders at work and home, incorporating this philosophy can lead to greater productivity and fulfillment.

The art of life is to know how to enjoy a little and to endure very much. – (William Hazlitt)

There you go.

I think that’s enough for one day. And here’s the reason I didn’t write down my own hash-tag Tuesday motivation quote is because I believe you ARE motivated. Otherwise you wouldn’t be working to build a business. Or follow your dreams and goals.

I believe you generally don’t need somebody else’s perspective on how to stay pumped up. You ARE pumped. And you just wanna get the right tools and the right system in place to take your ideas and your products and services to the world.

That’s why I built my RondaReady System. And it’s why I set things up in a hub. But I’m not gonna try to sell you on all that right now. Because I’d like to know more about what you’ve got going first. So, I invite you to schedule a time to talk with me to see if we can help you build your business better and faster with the RondaReady System hub.

Persistent worker got past that sinister laugh

I’ve gone through some serious life struggles in my life. And I even remember thinking of myself as a failure. Because relationships came and went. And emotional rugs were pulled out from under me. Sometimes life felt like a long, dark tunnel with no light at the end. But I made it an act of my will to be a persistent worker no matter what.

Because I believed a persistent worker could achieve a lot more.

And I remembered this quote from Robert Collier. “There is nothing on earth you can’t have once you have mentally accepted the fact that you can have it.”  (within reason of course)

So, the biggest benefit of being a persistent worker is that you get out of your own way. You might not always succeed (I know this very well). But at least it won’t be because you failed to keep going as a result of fear.

Leah’s a great example of what I mean.

Her passion for writing started at an early age. But, as a girl, and even as a young woman, her fear of failure kept her from sharing her work with others.

Even though she finally worked up the nerve to start a blog, every time she was ready to make a new post, Ol’ Miss Doubt sneaked in. And Ol’ Miss Doubt’s sinister voice echoed in Leah’s mind with questions about her skills and the value of her voice.

“What if no one reads it? What if they laugh at you? Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!”

And Leah’s creative self froze in its tracks.

But then one day, Leah stumbled upon a quote that turned things around.

“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.”

And she felt a renewed and inspired desire to write and boldly go where she had never gone before. So, she confronted her fears head-on. And in order to overcome her fear of failure she did something very complicated. She wrote the first sentence. Wow! Can you imagine?!

Then, Leah wrote the next sentence. And kept going until her entire post was complete. Sure, that’s way too complex and complicated for us mere mortals to comprehend. But she tapped into her super power. Her ability to be a persistent worker.

Then, she started to set small (but growing) achievable goals. Starting with a promise to herself to publish one blog post a week regardless of her fears or feelings. Before too long, she discovered she didn’t have to remind herself anymore. And something else happened to encourage her to keep going.

No one laughed at her. And people DID read it. Take that Ol’ Miss Doubt!

Leah’s wallflower days were over. Then, she found herself a business hub to build out her business. And now she now has the whole she-bang, so to speak, for automation, delegation, and escalation.

I don’t guarantee my RondaReady System Hub can turn you into a fearless writer. But it can certainly help you be the persistent worker you need to be in order to build a successful business better and faster.

If that sounds like something you’d wanna know more about, book a time for us to talk and find out more.

Brief encounter of the first kind

Renee always wondered why so many people made such a big deal out of first impressions. Because she believed that a person’s body of work or daily commitment could, should, and would always outshine a single brief encounter.

But one brief encounter took her skepticism for a spin.

Renee had just launched her dream café in a small, seaside town. She painstakingly curated every detail of her menu and the café’s interior. And she was convinced that all the charm and quality would draw customers in for a look. Then, of course, they’d wanna stay. And come back often. That was the plan.

On the grand opening day, Renee was all hustle and bustle. And she made sure everything was perfect. But just as Jane, an influential food blogger, walked in Renee spotted a slight spill on a the table where Jane was seated. And Renee was horrified. How could they all have missed it?

“Calm down,” she told herself. “Remember, one brief encounter isn’t the make-it-or-break-it-all.”

But, as it turned out, Jane wrote what she considered a constructive review. And it highlighted the spill and a couple of other oversights. She mentioned that she thought the food was delicious. But some parts of the experience had left a bit to be desired. And that had set the tone for Jane’s visit and review.

So, for the next few weeks after the opening, Renee’s café traffic was lukewarm at best.

But she decided to learn from her experience with the restaurant critic.

And she went out of her way, every day, to make sure all other customers would experience the best first impression possible. And that way she could win them over with ambiance, delicious food, and great customer service. Then, that first brief encounter could be so much more.

Not long after, her café became a go-to destination for locals AND tourists. Renee was redeemed.

Yeah, first impressions aren’t always face-to-face meetings.

In fact, someone’s first brief encounter with you and your business could be through your website’s landing page. Or your email form. Or your the message to your voicemail.

And since there’s a variety of ways to make a good first impression, it’s a good idea to keep your business cohesive on a smooth-running hub.

My RondaReady System Hub could be the one to help you build your business better and faster when you set it up right and put it to work for you.

Monkey games the boss no gotta play

This morning an ad popped up in my computer browser (go figure) about a “free online game series” I never heard of before. Not sure why monkey games would pop up in ads for me. But stranger things have happened. So…

Here’s the description I saw in the monkey games ad:

“Monkey GO Happy is a free online game series that takes place in different places and settings, but they are all united by a common theme. A crying monkey driven by the goal to solve the puzzles that it faces and gather small relatives scattered everywhere.”

If you play those games, or you know someone who does, maybe you already know all about the series. But I don’t. So, it seemed weird to see an ad like that.

But it reminded me of something similar in the real world. I’ve shared this before:

Years ago, when I was still in the corporate world, a new manager I met noticed how workers went to the owner with too many questions or problems. He talked about questions and problems they should have been resourceful enough to figure out on their own. And I agreed that was a problem.

But the manager said it was important to help them. And not send them away in shame. Or belittle them by asking why they couldn’t solve the problem themselves. And he said he liked to teach them how to find the answer on their own. Then, once they saw how it was done, he’d send them back out with three more problems to solve.

As he put it, “one monkey in…three monkeys out.”

Of course, that was to show me how to get the monkey off my back, so to speak.

And once I took his advice, soon enough those daily interruptions became a thing of the past. That’s the monkey solution in a nutshell. Or should I say coconut? No, I shouldn’t.

OK, here’s why I brought up all this about monkey games and that corporate lesson.

I’d like to see you enjoy the “go happy” part.

And, at the same time, don’t be the “crying monkey driven by the goal to solve the puzzles that it faces and gather small relatives scattered everywhere.”

But that’s what tends to happen when business owners and entrepreneurs piece their business tools together from a dozen different sources. Email service here. Schedule control there. Customer service, inventory management, communications everywhere else.

It can be a lot easier than all that. And you could enjoy more sane time working ON your dreams and goals instead of playin’ monkey games like chasing interfaces and tutorials.

My RondaReady System Hub might be the solution to help you build your business better and faster when you set it up right and let it work for you.

Fitness equipment for women and the web

Once upon a time, in the vibrant city of Getalong, there lived a fit, young woman, named Mia, who sold fitness equipment to women. Yes, she had decided to tailor her shop to women so they could feel totally comfortable as they browsed for gear more suited to them.

And her fitness equipment was real gear. Not fuzzy, pink silliness.

Because Mia fully understood the importance fitness equipment plays when you focus on total wellness. She’d certainly dealt with her share of the sick-and-tired-of-feeling-sick-and-tired side of life. And she’d also dealt with her share of gyms and fitness centers that felt like workout rooms for pro football players.

And her shop got popular pretty quick, too. Because her customers loved the concept and Mia’s personalized services in a warm, encouraging atmosphere. But her life definitely wasn’t a perfect, professional paradise.

Far from it.

Because, in spite of her success, Mia often felt overwhelmed. Tons of repetitive administrative work felt like too many reps on the weight machines.

But one rainy afternoon, she stumbled upon an article that mentioned the benefits of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems for small businesses. And it also talked about how the right kind of business hub could streamline operations, improve customer retention, and even increase profits.

Mia was skeptical. Because it sounded too simple to be true. But she noticed the article shared a link to book a free discovery call. So, she figured it was worth a look-see.

Fast forward to her fitness equipment business hub.

Mia now handles her client appointments, tracks inventory, and manages customer communications WAY more efficiently. At first, it seemed like a huge time investment. But Mia now realizes how much more time it saves. Because, now, she can view client histories with a click, send personalized marketing emails, and even automate appointment reminders.

Her old AND new clients really appreciate her personalized touch. And her word-of-mouth referrals have gone through the roof. But even better than all that Mia now enjoys much more time to focus on her business and her other dreams and ideas.

And a proven system can help you make it happen, too. Your results might not be the same as Mia’s. But my RondaReady System Hub can help you build your business better and faster when you set it up right and let it work for you.

Dedicated employee's exit was an entrance

Rachel (not her real name) had always been a dedicated employee. And she was well-liked and respected by her co-workers. And even admired by her supervisors. But none of that helped her escape getting booted out the door when the company she worked for was bought and downsized.

Apparently the downsizing new owners didn’t need dedicated employees.

So, like anybody in her shoes would do, Rachel wondered what she could do. And, naturally, she felt anxiety and fear start to flood her emotions.

But she was fortunate enough to have a loving and supporting family and friends. And just about every one of them encouraged her to consider focusing on her passion for baking. It was something that had always been in the back of her mind. But Rachel had always kept it there. Away from the chance of failure.

But NOW? Yeah, NOW life presented itself in a whole ‘nother way. And she decided to figure out a strategy for taking her internalized passion into the real world. What’s that expression? Necessity is the mother of invention? Yeah, that’s it. And, boy, was it necessary for Rachel to invent a new version of herself.

So, she discovered someone who could help her plug her ideas into a proven system. Someone who could help her refine her vision. And turn her passion for baking into an actual business. The whole process connected her skills and talents with tools for automation and delegation to help her succeed faster.

And, with the help of the system, Rachel found her niche.

She decided to create what you could call an online bakery. It was a website where she could display her unique, customized cakes and pastries. A website where customers could easily order baked goods and have them delivered quickly.

And a website, like that, needs to be able to take orders, make appointments, and provide open lines of communications with customers. So, Rachel plugged into the RondaReady System Hub.

The combination of her hub and her dedication to customer satisfaction got her some great word-of-mouth marketing. Then, she received some rave review online. And she started building a loyal customer base. Of course, it didn’t hurt that baked goods were exquisitely yummy.

So, it took about a year. But Rachel went from being an unwanted dedicated employee to popular online bakeshop owner. Now, that’s an awesome turnaround.

And her story shows you something else.

Job security does not exist.

Not for employees. And not even for management or executive officers of a company.
All you have to do to know that is look at companies that were giants of their industries that are now gone. Like Sears, Kmart, and Toys R Us.

But this is not a new phenomenon. Businesses have been folding and dying for as long as there have been businesses. Here’s what I want you to consider…

If you’re one of those people with a desire to own your business, research it! Don’t let fear hold you back. And don’t just trust that it’s safer to be a dedicated employee for someone else. Clearly it’s not always.

You CAN be a business owner.

And a proven system can help you make it happen. With a lot less headaches, roadblocks, and speed bumps. My RondaReady System Hub can help you build it better and faster.

Book a time for us to talk about it. I’d love to see if I can help you reach your goals and dreams.

Two wheeling on a tension-filled tightrope

Travis (not his real name) always loved biking. From his first Husky, a Christmas present from his parents, to his current Specialized Stumpjumper, there was nothing he enjoyed more than two wheeling time on the trail. So, it was only natural when he decided to open his own bike shop.

And that’s the short version of how Two Wheeling Time was started.

Travis was able to secure a lease to a cool, old brick building in the gentrified section of his hometown. And he also found a venture capitalist silent partner to help him stock the store with the latest bikes and gear. But one thing he hadn’t counted on was the well-meaning, but misguided advice of his uncle and cousin.

His first mistake was to ask them. And that might sound harsh. But family is rarely the right source for quality business advice and information.

For example, Travis’ uncle suggested adding high-end racing bikes. And he claimed that “serious cyclists spend the most money.” Plus, Travis’ cousin told him to hire at least a couple of people to handle the shop floor, inventory, repairs, and accounting from the get-go. She said people would look at him as more professional and trust him more.

So, Travis took their advice and put a bunch of his business capital into high-end stuff and 2 employees.

But once the initial curiosity of his opening week faded away, Travis noticed the high-end bikes didn’t really sell. And, in fact, most visitors seemed to be interested in more affordable options. They were willing to spend a few hundred on a bike. But not thousands.

He had to slash prices on the racing bikes to get rid of them. And he took a big financial hit.

But even worse than that was how he had to pay employees who really weren’t good sales people. And they cost him more than his sales could justify. So, of course, he had to let them go.

Then, it was decision and pivot time.

Travis renewed his inventory with more affordable bikes and accessories. And he made sure the shop had the look and feel that casual riders, families, and even two wheeling enthusiasts would appreciate. Then, he engaged with the community through local cycling events. And he started to build a loyal customer base.

Slowly but surely, “Two Wheeling Time” recovered.

Then, he discovered a way to automate a lot of his daily work. And save a ton of time and effort. He plugged his business into the RondaReady System Hub.

I love working with people, like Travis, who want to work ON a business even if they have to start by working IN it. Because those are the kind of owners and entrepreneurs who understand the value of what a business hub can bring. If that sounds like you, schedule a time to get on a call with me.

My RondaReady System hub might be able to help you switch gears and blaze a better trail.

Solve and smile and rinse and repeat

I love entrepreneurs. Especially the ones who can face problems with a solve and smile attitude.

And there’s nothing more stressful than unsolved problems. But, if you’re a tried and true entrepreneur, you’re not afraid to tackle problems. Reminds me of someone. Hmm…who was it? Oh yeah.

Talk about a solve and smile entrepreneur. That was definitely Kyra.

To say she was an ambitious entrepreneur would be an understatement. Kyra (not her real name) had helped her friends (and very often their friends) market their businesses online and off. And that was just in her spare time. After figuring out that she was actually very good at it, she decided to start her own digital marketing agency.

Of course, she knew the competition would be tough. So she figured, in order to stand out, she’d better leverage every tool at her disposal. And that’s discovered the power of a certain Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which will remain nameless for just a bit.

Kyra plugged her business, and her ideas, into that CRM as soon as she could. And, at one point, she said (in her words) “it revolutionized” the way she managed her client communications and appointments.

And she dived deeper into what her CRM system could do.

She segmented her clients based on their industry and marketing needs. And that made it a whole lot easier to use more personalized and effective campaigns. With the automated help from her CRM, every client interaction, from emails to meetings, was meticulously logged and tracked. And that not only streamlined her operations but also made sure no client felt neglected.

A definite Win-Win. Solve and Smile.

And Kyra’s proactive approach paid off. Big time. Because it helped her build strong, trust-based relationships. And those relationships turned into an explosion of word-of-mouth referrals.

Another issue Kyra managed to solve and smile was something most entrepreneurs deal with. Client retention. But she analyzed her CRM data so she could identify trends and pain points that clients experienced. And that data gave her the big picture so she could adapt her services to better meet her clients’ needs and problems.

And, naturally, if clients and customers get problem solved, they tend to stick around.

Kyra committed to learning the in’s and out’s of her comprehensive CRM.  And word got out, in the local business community, that her digital marketing service could “get the job done.” So, her business expanded. And, to this day, she loves to say her digital tools solved her problems so she could help solve her clients problems and smile all the way to the bank.

I love that.

If you’re not already enjoying results like that in your business, schedule a time to get on a call with me. My RondaReady System hub might be the way you could get in the solve and smile mood.
