Most people in America don’t ride a train to work. Or even take a train ride for any reason. So, it might seem a little strange that I’m gonna ask you to imagine you’re waiting for a train that’s taking you to work.
But your train ride is delayed and you’ve got time on your hands.
Now what do you do? With a smartphone and some wi-fi you’ve got options. But what would you do?
Well, for a young woman, in England, that’s exactly what happened. She was on a train ride into King’s Cross Station in London. But her train was delayed. Thankfully she had her best tool with her. No, not a smartphone. It was her imagination.
And as her imagination kicked in, she started to formulate an idea about a young wizard. Fortunately, she had some scraps of paper. And she wrote down some notes. Over time, those notes developed into a story. And she continued to work on that story as she raised her daughter, alone, on welfare benefits.
As the story of her life goes, she finished her manuscript five years later. She called it “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.” And BOOM, she was famous.
Uh…not so fast.
Actually 12 publishers rejected her manuscript. But she finally connected with Bloomsbury Publishing. THEN her book found its way into the hands of millions. And THEN J.K. Rowling became famous. And wealthy, of course.
You probably already know that Ms Rowling continued to write Harry Potter’s story. And the series of books have sold over half a billion copies. She even became the world’s first billionaire author. No small thing. But she quickly gave up the billionaire title by donating a huge part of her fortune to charities.
And her Harry Potter series is said to have shaped an entire generation of kids. But I’d bet she’d probably say she doesn’t want that responsibility and that she just hopes they enjoy the journey of reading a book.
OK, are you still waiting for your train ride?
And do you know what you’re gonna do while you’re waiting? How about not just waiting? How about you write down your thoughts, like J.K. Rowling did? And how about you start to formulate the story of YOUR life.
You don’t need any magic powers. Just some get up and go. And a good idea of which way to go and what to do along the way and when you get there.
And I could probably help you do that a lot better and faster. But I’d like you to call me so we can talk about it. That way, you can tell me your dreams, goals, and ideas. And we can take it from there. Click or tap on that handy calendar below and book a free call with me. Yes, it’ll be me you’ll talk with. I don’t outsource that.
But remember. Time doesn’t stand still. So, you shouldn’t either. Book the call as soon as possible. The sooner we talk, the sooner you could feel like the wizard of your own life.
