A friend of mine told me a story he remembered from his days in high school. He lived, for a little while, with a friend and his friend’s dad. The dad was a well-known eye surgeon who was already in his early 70’s. And he was sort of an eccentric guy. One example of that was when my friend saw the dad fast-walking from one side of his large bedroom, and tumbling forward before he reached the other side of the room. My friend asked him what he was doing. And his answer was he was practicing how to fall.
When you think about it, practicing how to fall ain’t such a bad idea.
Because, whether you and I like it or not, we’re not getting any younger. And eventually the ol’ body gets a little weaker and the ol’ bones get a little bit brittle. Or they certainly CAN get that way. And when arms and legs don’t work as well as they used to, knowing how to fall might make a HUGE difference in what happens when you DO fall.
A few years ago I shared a blurb about Denzel Washington saying something like, if you’re going to fall, fall forward. And I mentioned how I love the visual from that. Because when you fall forward, at least you can see where you’re going. And you can tumble into it, like that eye surgeon, and roll with it instead of breaking your wrists.
That’s also sort of a metaphor for your business or your dreams and ideas. But you don’t have to practice how to fall, forward or otherwise, when you’re too afraid to move forward.
And I can tell you, treading water in the status quo, puts you in a mighty vulnerable position. Your competition, not afraid to move forward, can easily knock you backwards. And I probably don’t have to tell you, don’t go backwards.
Because your forward momentum makes you, and your business or dreams and ideas, makes you a moving target. And your competition wants you to stand still or go backwards.
But how do you keep going forward even when you don’t feel like it? Well, that’s where systems save the day. Systems help you maintain consistency. And consistency propels you towards your goal. Reaching your goals helps you reach your dreams.
And those dreams are why you even started your business in the first place. Right?
So, which way will you fall?
Well, if it has to happen, make it forward! Right?
And how do you start? I believe a proven System, developed by somebody who learned how to fall (and get back up and keep going) long before you did, is the best bet.
It just so happens my RondaReady System fits that description very nicely. My client list of successful business owners, who plugged into the System, are proof that it works. And, fortunately for you, I put the whole System into a very affordable book you can get and start implementing as early as today.
