Ouch! Pain points
Small business owners’ pain points include the people they hire. Not all the time, but enough that I deal with that in the RondaReady business coach CRM system.
But why do new hires end up being pain points?
Because small business owners are notorious for being unprepared to make a good hire.
I know owners who’ve hired people so unqualified for the jobs the owners end up almost not wanting to go to the office. Because they don’t want to have to face the bad hires and be reminded of their own bad decision.
And guess what? A lot of times it’s really not so much a bad hire. Usually it’s the small business owner isn’t Ready to help the person be a good hire.
And that can cost small business owners a lot more than pain.
Bad hires can cost a small business owner up to 2/3 of an annual salary to replace. And you can avoid that with proper preparation. People want to follow a leader who’s got business under control. So they’ll be able to do a better job. Because the boss is doing a better job. Makes sense…right?
Think about this. You wouldn’t want to (or maybe you couldn’t) work for someone who didn’t provide a consistent and predictable workplace. Right? Well, consistency and predictability don’t magically happen. They require processes and procedures. A plan.
And that includes having a plan for new hires.
