In a distant and mysterious land, there lived a young travel writer named Trevor (not his real name). And he most definitely had a way with words. In fact, one of his clients wrote a review and said that Trevor could “turn mundane moments into rich tapestries of adventure.”
So, he turned his way with words into a blog called, “Travel With Trevor.”
And he eventually attracted thousands of wanderlust-driven readers daily.
But ironically, one day, after he finished a mountain hike, Trevor had to face down a mountain of administrative tasks for the umpteenth time. And he realized how much precious time those boring, but necessary, tasks took away from his first love. Not the way somebody with a way with words prefers.
So, Trever decided to automate his business. But. Where to start?
He figured it would probably be best to start with the basics. His writing.
Of course, you can’t automate creativity. But you CAN automate your content management process. So, Trevor set up a tool, he found online, to help him streamline his content plans. That way he could keep track of story ideas and write drafts and keep it all neatly organized till he needed the next piece.
Then, he found a to-do app he liked that he connected to his Google calendar. And that helped him create optimized daily work schedules based on his tasks and deadlines.
And focus on his writing.
Trevor often had to conduct interviews and attend meetings with tourism boards and fellow travel enthusiasts. But note-taking during those times was tedious, and he frequently missed important details. So, he found a tool to help him record and transcribe. Another problem solved.
Another issue he had to deal with was how to integrate his email communications. So, he went back online, did a ton of research, and decided on an email service to help him automate that work.
And sure enough, that tool helped him use his way with words to stay in touch with his audience better.
But Trevor still needed to keep track of his projects, set up a social media strategy, and set up landing pages for his products and services. And he discovered that his automation tools were WAY too scattered to simplify his life the way he had hoped.
Why couldn’t somebody put all those automation components together so he wouldn’t have to log in and out of a half dozen websites and apps to get his “automated” work done?
Well, as it turned out, there IS somebody who does that.
