Multitasking Skills – uh…yeah.
Just heard again today someone talking about their awesome multitasking skills. I hate to burst your bubble. But that’s an oxymoron. Doing something well requires focus. How can you focus on more than one thing and be exceptional? Short answer is…you can’t. Sure, you can pat your head and rub your belly at the same time. But you’re probably not gonna impress many serious customers or clients.
If you just want to be mediocre, by all means multitask.
Sure, you can watch the game on TV and hear your kid tell you about the bully at school. But, be honest, you know you can’t really listen to and pay attention to both. To truly tune in to your child’s anguish, you’re gonna have to tune out a play or two of the game. And, on the flip side, if you just gotta see that next play, you sacrifice that meaningful connection with your kid when they need you most.
Focus is the number one skill of highly successful people. And you started your business with the idea of being successful. Right? Of course, otherwise it’s just an expensive hobby.
So let the so-so’s believe they’ve mastered some epic multitasking skills.
You’re better than that. And if you need help focusing, don’t feel like you’re the only one. Who couldn’t use some help? In fact, it’s why I started my business.
