Of course, if you’ve been in business for any time at all, you’ve heard the old sayings. Customers come first. Or, the customer’s always right. Or, visualize your ideal customer. Nothing wrong with any of those. Except the one about them coming first. I’m gonna share some shocking news with you. Your customers should not be your first priority.
Remember what the flight attendants said before takeoff?
In the event of an emergency, when the air masks drop, what are you supposed to do if you have kids? That’s right. Put your mask on first. Then, you can put your kids’ masks on. And of course, that’s because if you drop out due to lack of oxygen, you’re not gonna be able to help anybody. Much less your children.
What’s that got to do with business and customers? Simple. You’ve got to get your own business in order before you can take care of any customers or clients. And you won’t be any good to any of them if your business is on life support. No system for keeping track. No automation or delegation.
