Looking for success is a great way not to find it

Was Dorothy looking for success somewhere over the rainbow? And how about Nemo’s father? Is that what he was doing? Or think about the Avengers.

Were superheros looking for success or something else?

I’m sure you can tell, by the way I framed my questions, they were all looking for something else. And it seems simple to say. But when you start pursuing your dreams, you certainly wanna have success. It’s only natural.

So, you need AND want clients or customers.

Yeah, it really comes down to this. If you’re not selling anything to anybody, you don’t really have a business. Right? An interesting hobby, maybe. But not a business. Because businesses stay businesses by selling stuff. And Henry David Thoreau put it something like this “Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for success.”

So, you gotta stay busy IN your business till you get clients and sell more stuff.

And you gotta sell stuff to keep getting more clients. Sounds like a vicious circle. But it’s really an exciting spinning wheel when you Get Ready for it and keep it spinning. In fact, eventually, you can get to the point where the wheel will keep spinning without your constant hands-on-the-wheel involvement.

I’ve always told my clients how important it is to get to the point where they’re working ON their business. But before you get to that point, you’ve really gotta work IN your business. And that’s where highly organized CEO’s shine. Because they know the value of putting together a repeatable, measurable system.

The kind of system they can depend on day in and day out.

Before you start spending time, effort, and money on getting clients, it’s crucial to Get Ready and Be Ready for them. Do you have a system for contacts? I’m talking about a proven method for calling, emailing, and even mailing them. And how about a system for collecting and storing their information? Do you know what information to collect? And how you’ll use that data?

There’s a lot more valuable information you should consider when it comes to setting things up.

Good news.

I’ve already developed a system (used successfully by scores of business owners) to help take a lot of the pain and worry of setting up your contacts. And it can help you lay out your time in blocks. Because schedule control and planning is key. My RondaReady business coach CRM system includes sections for…

  • Initial consultation
  • The in-process workflow
  • Contacts database
  • Nurturing database
  • What to do the first 90 days
  • How to reconnect, and
  • Getting, using, and repeating referrals

Yeah, you can get yourself a mighty comprehensive system in my RondaReady System book.

This has been my life’s work for the past 17 years. So, I know a thing or two hundred about this whole business system stuff. In fact, an old boss of mine made up the title “Performance Advocate” for me because I got so good at it.

So, invest in your own copy of the RondaReady System book, today. Discover how to be a tip-top performance advocate for your own business. Because it can help stop looking for success and actually find it as you…

No better feeling than this trilogy

I hope this is a mighty good Friday for you no matter where you are. For that matter, I hope that for me, too. Because there’s no better feeling, as a business owner, to end the work week on a good note.

Well, maybe I shouldn’t say there’s NO better feeling.

Because it might even feel better to get some very important parts in the right order. And those things, of which I speak, are thoughts, feelings, and action. Because it’s amazing what can happen when you get these in the right order. I call it the “trilogy of thoughts into action.”

But before I tell you what it is, I should tell you it’s pretty complicated. So, I hope you’re ready to write a few pages of notes. Are you ready? I mean are you RondaReady? Ok, here’s the trilogy.

  • Thoughts
  • Feelings, aanndd…
  • Action

There you go. That’s it in a nutshell. My work, here, is done. (just kidding)

I used to talk to my kids about this all the time. And I like to think they’re keeping the trilogy in mind as they move around in their own lives now.

I also have open conversations with my friends and clients about it. How feelings can often dictate things in daily life. But feelings aren’t the beginning of the trilogy. What’s the beginning? Go back to those bullet points.

Yeah, your thought life is so important when it comes to what you’ll actually do.

Throughout the day. And throughout your life. Get your thoughts Ready, (part of what I call the Get Ready phase). And make sure they’re clear and focused on positive things. Because it’s human nature to be negative. That’s just part of this world we live in. It’s so easy to quickly grab onto the negative and try to wrestle it to the ground. Right?

But the sooner you turn your thoughts around to the positive, the sooner your feelings can line up with them. And wouldn’t you rather feel good everyday? I sure would. And here’s the icing on the trilogy cake.

When your feelings are good, actions can follow in that same pattern. Bingo!

Now, today, I encourage you to take some time to recognize when you’re not feeling so great. And then pay attention to your thoughts. What kind of questions are you asking yourself? Maybe that’s a good place to start a new and different story. Get some better questions. And then you can get some better answers.

So, work on your thoughts.

And make the trilogy something that just happens automatically in you.

  • Thoughts
  • Feelings, aanndd…
  • Action

And my RondaReady business management system can help you dive into each part of the trilogy even more. My one-on-one clients would tell you there’s no better feeling than when you get this system working for your business.

Good news is, I included the whole system in a book you can get as early as today. So, invest in your own copy of the RondaReady System book, today. And let’s make sure you can Get Ready, Be Ready, and…

More work done with much less clunk

More and more people are getting more and more work done, efficiently, from their trusty phones. Count me as part of that crowd. Because I’m not sure how well I could operate if I had to go a day without mine.

And isn’t it just awesome we have access to such amazing technology? Especially with all the distractions in the world these days.

So, do you get more work done on your phone, too?

Or does it feel too little? I mean, there ARE definitely some advantages to being able to whip out a laptop or tablet and type on real, full-sized keys. Not the least of which is speed.

But maybe your business style is “creative.” Or you prefer not to have to type out everything (especially on a mobile device). In that case you’d probably love some of the features of my CRM system. Because one of those features is voice-to-text recognition. And that’s just a fancy schmancy way of saying you can take notes, in the system, just by saying them directly into the CRM.

So, that’s a key reason I made sure the RondaReady CRM system has a simple way to take notes for reminders, etc.

It’s so convenient to be able to talk text in between appointments, for example. While something is fresh in your mind. And without having to pull over, grab your phone, and type on that tiny keyboard. Instead, you tap on a button, start talking, tap the button again, and your note is ready and waiting for you when you get back to your computer.

And that means more work done during a time when you might’ve gotten none done before.

So, today, I just wanna encourage you to get yourself a mobile ready system.

Your mind, emotions, and even your thumbs will thank you.

My RondaReady mobile advantage comes from being connected to my CRM. But it’s only for serious entrepreneurs who have the profits to invest their businesses.

So, if that’s not you, yet, I encourage you to invest in your own copy of the RondaReady System book, today. It’s a much less expensive option. But it has all the information you need to help get more work done in less time and help you…

Stay Ready,

Part of the system that holds the other parts together

I remember a meeting I had with a client who’s a business banker. During our time together we discussed our mutual client, another small business owner. And it did my heart good to see him get out his to do list and calendar. Because it wasn’t just any old software. It was part of the system we’d set up for him months ago.

But it’s the part of the system that can work wonders for your work.

Because the work gets so much easier when you plan it out. My client said he appreciated how I reminded him about his best days being the ones when he follows his to-do list and a plan. He said those days, when he doesn’t follow his plan, are when he gets much less accomplished and feels less confident.

Can you see the big difference? Following a list with a plan is how you control your business and your life. And not letting them control you. My client said he much prefers how his days are now versus “working without a net.” And he gave me some other nice compliments, too.

Of course, that made my day. And I’m always glad to help.

And it’s SO true. There’s nothing better than creating a schedule with tasks focused on achieving the results you want. And it’s much easier than you might imagine.

My RondaReady business system has helped scores of other entrepreneurs, like you, get control of their days with a calendar and a to-do list. In fact, those are essential parts of the built-in CRM I make sure my one-on-one clients have. But, believe it or not, there are still a lot of business owners who’d rather make things more difficult. So, they pay no attention to any part of the system. Mine, or anybody else’s for that matter.

Sadly, they don’t want anything to do with any part of the system.

And if you’re that kind of shoot-from-the-hip kind of entrepreneur, this is probably too organized for you. And you certainly won’t care that I’ve organized the entire RondaReady System into a book.

So, if all that’s true, then there’s no need for you to get your own copy of the RondaReady System book. Because it’ll just end up gathering dust on a shelf somewhere. Yeah, a lot of struggling business owners do that.

But, if you’re still reading, you’re not that kind of business owner. And I’d love to help you get, be, and…

Accountability at work even if you don’t have a job

Business Hub Consultant in Colorado Springs Posted on March 25, 2024 by RondaMarch 25, 2024
Accountability at work even if you don't have a job

When is a job better than owning a business? Well, that’s kind of a trick question. But a job CAN be better in at least one way. As long as you actually show up, there’s always built-in accountability at work. Because, if you don’t live up to your employer’s expectations and needs, you might lose your job to someone who will.

But a business owner doesn’t have built-in accountability at work.

Whether you show up or not won’t cause you get fired. Because, well, you’re the boss. And you’re certainly not gonna fire yourself. Right? But how do you know when you’re doing as much as you could be? And how do you determine when it’s OK to ease up? Or when it’s crucial to pump it up?

If you need that sort of accountability at work in your business, then you might be a candidate for some sort of accountability partner.

That’s a role I’ve played with my clients for years. I remember one client’s comments to me about how that helped.

She said, when she works with me, she feels more motivated. And she noticed herself rising to a higher performance level.

I know that feeling, too. Because a mentor or a coach can take you to better places and levels than before.

I’ve had (and still have) my own coaches. Yes, even a business coach can use a coach. And when you get right down to it, everybody can. But not everybody realizes it. Not everybody understands how important it is to keep learning. To keep developing. And keep growing.

And a coach doesn’t bring a bias to your business like a relative or somebody in your personal life. A coach, who understands business, can give you the objective perspective you need. And as good as you are at what you do, you might still suffer from the rose-colored glasses syndrome. In other words, you believe your products, services, and information should stand on their own.

But, like I say all the time, you gotta know your numbers.

That’s where my RondaReady business system really shines.

It’s a complete system to help you Get Ready, Be Ready, and Stay Ready. And you won’t just know your numbers. You’ll build a customized system to help you keep track of every important part of your business. Then, you’ll be the highly organized CEO of your own business. Just like you imagined when you first started.

Fortunately, you can get my entire system without having to pay my premium, one-on-one client fees. Because I put the entire system in my RondaReady System book. You can get a physical copy so you can include your own notes. Or you can get a digital copy and download it as early as today. Either way, don’t delay.

Let me help you Get Ready to Be Ready, and…

Break even analysis? Does my calculator need batteries?

Raise your hand if you know what a break even analysis is.

Hmm, I see a few hands raised. And I see a few more of you, with your hands not quite raised, are not quite sure. Right? Maybe you’ve never even heard of it. And maybe you’d rather not hear about it now.

Well, here’s something I found called “Interpretation of Break Even Analysis”

~ A break even analysis helps you figure out when total fixed and variable costs are equal to total revenues. And where they meet is called the break-even point. At the break-even point, a business does not make a profit or loss. Therefore, the break-even point is often referred to as the “no-profit” or “no-loss point. ~

OK, does it make sense so far? Good. Here’s a little more explanation I found.

~ The break-even analysis is important to business owners and managers in determining how many units (or revenues) are needed to cover fixed and variable expenses of the business.

Therefore, the concept of break-even point is as follows:

  • Profit when Revenue is greater than Total Variable Cost + Total Fixed Cost
  • Break-even point when Revenue = Total Variable Cost + Total Fixed Cost
  • Loss when Revenue is less than Total Variable Cost + Total Fixed Cost ~

Fun stuff, right?

Yeah, probably not so much. And that’s probably why most business owners don’t set any of it up before they start a business. Because, after all, when you’ve got ideas, you wanna get right to work making those ideas into a profitable business. And that’s totally understandable.

After all, you started your business so you could take pictures, or build cabinets, or sell lots of stuff online. But you sure didn’t come up with your great business idea just so you could calculate boring numbers. Right?

I get it. Because I’m like you. I’d rather do the work I love than have to do the calculating stuff like projections and pivot tables. But it’s important to know if your business is making (or is gonna make) enough money to support you. And when you know your numbers, you’ll be able to adjust as necessary. Maybe you’ll need to raise or lower your prices. And maybe you’ll need to hire some help for the “boring” break even analysis part.

Boring as it is, it’s important to figure out and know your sales revenue and your fixed and variable costs. And what your contribution margin is. Because the contribution margin directly influences your net profit. And you want that net profit as high as possible. Say it with me, “High profits good! No profits bad!”

Calculate your numbers. And then you can start playing. Price adjustments. Possibly lower expenses. Fixed and/or variable.

All of this is part of what I call the Be Ready stage in my RondaReady business management system. It’s where you develop strategies for steady income and higher profits. Remember, you’re a CEO. It’s part of your job description to know this stuff.

So, where is your break even?

Does it seem too overwhelming to keep track of your numbers and performance measurement? And how about making projections, analyzing, and tweaking when necessary? When you’re Ready to set this kind of work up with a proven system, consider the RondaReady System.

But just so you know, mine isn’t for everybody. Just the ones who are ready to invest in themselves and their business. The ones who understand the value of being a highly organized CEO instead of staying on the self-employed hamster wheel. And the ones who understand that RIGHT NOW there’s a huge opportunity for people who aren’t letting fear rule their decisions.

Right now being proactive instead of reactive can put you way ahead of your competition.

A great way to do that is to get your own copy of the RondaReady System book, today. Because so much of your so-called “competition” isn’t doing this kind of work. So, make a move now and get Ready to Be Ready and…

Going your way is so much better than going away

When John and Jane (not their real names) and I first met, they told me their overwhelming story. And, as I listened, I also watched the looks on their faces. Then, I said, “Ok, let’s look at this objectively. Because it’s clear that momentum isn’t going your way.”

I could see they had enormous pressures in their business. And in their personal lives. Plus, they kept telling me how totally overwhelmed they felt. And they just couldn’t see which way to go or how to proceed. They kept getting slammed with unexpected circumstances. And they felt helpless to handle it all. And that’s why they contacted me. For some guidance. So I said…

“Let’s get back to the basics and get things going your way again.”

Then, I shared a sports analogy. When pro teams feel the momentum shifting away from them, they often take a time out. So, I said, “Start with a time out. Take a breath. Get a good drink of water. And then, we’ll make a plan.”

Because once you have a game plan it’s so much easier to get momentum going your way again. Otherwise, you’ll be like an athlete running up and down the field or court with no idea which end is which.

And running like that is just wasted energy. That’s true in your business, too. Maybe you’ve been guilty of “busy work.” You know, that work you do that doesn’t propel your business forward. But at least it makes you feel like you’re doing something. Right? But that kind of work isn’t why you started your business. And surely, it isn’t how you envisioned yourself.

That’s why when you find yourself overwhelmed, it’s time for the basics again.

So you can Get Ready. And refocus your mind on where you want to be. Then, you’ll Be Ready to put your actionable steps in place. After that, it’s so much smoother to Stay Ready with the systems you put in place to keep you there.

My RondaReady business management system can help you do that so much faster and better. It helped John and Jane overcome the overwhelm. But don’t wait till you’re overwhelmed to get things going your way.

A better idea is to get your own copy of the RondaReady System book, today. There’s a lot of information in my system to help you avoid overwhelm, and help you…

Power and control with no evil villain in sight

Power and Control. (cue the evil doctor laugh, mwa-ha-ha-ha!)

OK, get out your dictionary. It’s time to look up some stuff and figure some things out.

First, a quick look at the definition of management shows, “process of dealing with things.”

Then, there’s the definition of control: “power to influence or direct course of events.” Wow, I don’t know about you, but that definition sounds a whole lot better.

OK, follow all that up with the definition of control: “directing the course of events.”

Yes! Give me power and control! (and a little more reverb on my evil laugh)

Oh yeah, I’m in! And guess what? All seriousness aside, those are the basics of what it takes to be a highly organized CEO of your own business.

So, tell me. Would you rather learn time management or schedule control? How about switching those around to time control or schedule management. Or, for the sake of coming to the point, how about we leave out the words time and schedule. What are you left with? Yeah, management and control. And you’re probably already ahead of me now. But see what happened?

Control beats management any day of the week.

Being a manager (as in time management) is like running around putting out fires. And why would you want to do that? Especially when you started your business because you were on fire to serve others with your products, services, and information.

And I’m guessing you’d rather be an effective CEO who delegates day-to-day tasks like time management to others. Because I just know you’d rather work on your vision. And come up with more ideas. Right? Of course. Because that’s what power and control is all about.

Well, OK, maybe not what it’s ALL about. But you catch my drift. Right?

Point is, you gotta take control of your time. Take charge of your own schedule and build your power to influence. Because that’s how you can keep pushing toward that lifestyle you want for yourself.

Without control you’re stuck in a management role.

And that can leave you feeling like an employee in your own business. Not good for your morale. And not good for your business. In fact, it’s not even good for anyone you hire.

My RondaReady business management system has helped a ton of business owners get back in control of their time and their businesses. And I never get tired of hearing their success stories.

Get your own copy of the RondaReady System book, today. And if what I’ve shared with you here resonated at all, go right to the part in the book where I teach you all about schedule control. Then, you’ll be ready to…

Another new year slip slidin' away

A fourth of 2024 is already almost gone. Yep. 25% of another new year is already old news. Do you even remember those so-called “resolutions” you made all those weeks ago? Well, maybe you do if they sounded like the same ones you made last year.

So, how do you make 2024 more than just another new year?

Choices. Decisions. Options. Selections.

Whichever work you prefer, it comes down to YOU and what course of action you’ll stick with.

I remember talking with a client, years ago, who was going through a very rough spot in her life and business. And she shared some extreme changes she’d made in both. Something I kept hearing her say was “I had no other choice.” Making changes like that might work for a tiny, tiny fraction of people. But mostly it’s just reaction. Certainly not a strategy. Especially in business.

I told her, “Instead of thinking how bad things make you feel, ask yourself how bad do you want it.” And that question goes for YOU, too. How bad do YOU want it? And only YOU know what IT is.

So, know the answer to that question and choice, and you’ll be equipped to make better decisions.

But you gotta be willing to make change happen.

Because when you just let another new year slip through past you, day after day, disaster is always possible.

And for goodness sake, don’t let other people’s opinions of what you need influence your decisions. They might have good intentions. But their circumstances are not your circumstances. And your desire to make change happen is all that matters.

So what do you really want out of life?

Have you really thought it through?

Your mind and will, working together, can do amazing things. And you can achieve what you focus on (there’s that focus word again).

So, make sure you’re focused on solutions. Not problems. Because a problems focus tends to create more problems. And then you’ll quickly find yourself back in that “I had no other choice” frame of mind.

You’ve heard that old saying, “Hindsight is 20/20″, right? Well, 2024 is still another fairly new year. But even better than that is, NOW is right now. And NOW is always a great time to make positive changes happen. So, this time next year, your 20/20 hindsight might look like, ” Yeah! I made good choices.”

Here’s what I suggest for today.

Think things through. Focus. And make a plan.

In other words, Get Ready!

And if you’re ready to make that happen a lot faster, invest in your own copy of my RondaReady System book, today. And it IS a good investment. Because it can pay for itself exponentially, and help you…

Show up every day because most don’t

Success. It’s not for everybody. And probably because it’s hard work. You gotta show up every day.

And, sadly, most people don’t wanna show up every day.

I’m pretty sure I’m not talking to you. But anybody who doesn’t wanna show up every day falls into at least one of three categories when it comes to a lack of success in business. See if any or all three of these apply to you.

  • An unfocused mind (and purpose)
  • Bad habits haven’t been replaced with income producing habits
  • No dependable and proven system in place

Any of those sound familiar? If so, don’t beat yourself up. Just about every entrepreneur has either been there and done that, or they’re still there doing that. I know. Because I’ve been there, done that. And I’ve helped lots and lots of business owners show up every day and work their way out of one or all of those problems.

Believe me, I understand the distractions with all that’s going on in the world right now. It’s hard to stay focused in good times. Let alone shaky times. But distractions can affect your ability to develop those good income producing habits. Then, if all that happens, good luck building a system to help you avoid the problems.

So, here’s what I suggest. Don’t let the distractions of the world, or anything else for that matter, detour you. Get out your roadmap. Stick to the course you’ve set for yourself. And put the pedal to the metal in your business.

Because I believe, despite what you might have heard to the contrary, you can still build your own empire. Even when others let theirs crumble. Just keep working on those three areas every successful business owner learns to master.

Focus. Habits. And a proven system.

By the way, I teach a lot more about those components in my RondaReady business management system. And I have the tools to help you plug your business into it, too. Just in case you’d like a huge jump start.

So, here’s a starting point for you. Get your own copy of the RondaReady System book, today. Because that reasonably small investment could be all you need to Get Ready, Be Ready, and…
