“Details matter. It’s worth waiting to get it right.” That’s a quote from Steve Jobs. In case you don’t know who he was (sadly he’s no longer here in the land of the living), he was the founder of Apple computers.

Now, here’s another quote I think you’ll appreciate:

“When making experiences, attention to detail matters.”  And that’s a quote from Richard Branson, the billionaire Founder of Virgin (which includes an airline and a record company).

And what do those two guys have in common? Well, obviously, they both became billionaires. But what should be just as obvious is that they followed their own good advice to become billionaires.

There are some who say that Mr. Jobs was hardheaded about the details. And that appears to be true when you read about how he even obsessed over those tiny screws and parts inside computers. He wanted to be sure the quality on the inside of devices was equal to what people could see on the outside.

He built quite an empire with his “obsession.”

And Mr. Branson wanted airline flights to be so much more than just getting from Point A to Point B. So, he made sure his passengers had a memorable experience. Not just a flight. Have you ever flown anywhere on one of his planes? I hear it’s quite the experience alright.

I’m not a billionaire. But I get up every day and look for ways to make life better for business owners. And I help my clients and customers do that for their clients and customers. Because better service means better results. You know. Like more money and profits. And better lifestyle.

Bargain hunters are everywhere right now. You’re probably one. I know I’m one. Because it’s just the sensible thing to do. Look for the most bang for your bucks. Right?

But, sad to say, most bargain hunters miss out on the best deals.

Because they keep looking for lower prices. Yeah, that MIGHT be an indicator of a good deal. But the savviest bargain hunters know that price isn’t always the best litmus test for value.

For example, I know a couple who bought a new Mitsubishi Mirage for about $17,000. Compared to a lot of today’s prices, that’s not all that bad. But still it’s enough that most people have to make payments. And that’s true of the couple I’m talking about.

Anyway, they said their new car has a “weak engine.” And they don’t like the “excessive road noise.” Plus, they said the interior feels “cheap.”

So, the somewhat lower price AND new car status didn’t pan out so well. And they have lots of payments.

Then, there’s another couple I know who bought a used Toyota Corolla with fairly high miles for about $3800. They paid for it, in full, from their savings account. So they own the car instead of payments. Plus, they said it “drives like new.” And they love how “it’s peppy and really cruises down the highway.” They also were glad to see that the interior had “held up so well.”

Of course, your results might vary.

But I shared all that with you to show how a bargain is only a bargain if the value justifies the cost.

Yeah, you won’t have to look far on your computer or your phone, today, to find tons of deals for Cyber Monday 2023. I’ve already seen ’em in a bunch of my emails. And it seems like businesses have really caught on to the whole online profits thing.

Cyber Monday 2023 is really just another Monday now.

Because, after about 20 years of e-commerce, I think it’s safe to say most people feel safe to shop online. And, as I’ve mentioned before, Amazon Prime trucks and vans zooming up and down the streets, roads, and highways are proof of that.

Cyber Monday 2023 deals are coming at you from phone companies with their awesome unlimited offers. Internet and TV specials are flying at you from all the major providers. And, of course, even the traditional brick and mortar businesses are in on it. Clothing stores, grocery stores, convenience stores, and so on.

But, like I said, it must work. Or they wouldn’t do it every year.

Businesses and advertising agencies plan their cyber Monday deals months in advance. And their Black Friday doorbusters. And their 4th quarter projections. Some people even get paid big bucks to come up with campaigns and offers and sales letters.

So, obviously, they must know it works.

But how do they know it works?

Because they know you and I just can’t resist those irresistible deals we can access with our computers in the comfort of our own homes. And they use that weakness against us (or is it FOR us?) by making it push-button easy to buy. So, they keep their cash registers humming the whole cyber day long.

Can’t say I fault ’em for that. Because you own a business to make money. Right?

And so, each year businesses figure out what worked last year and what didn’t. Then, they use those numbers and that information to figure out what they’ll do this year. And maybe you already know what all that work is called?

But just in case you don’t know, it’s called A System.

A few years ago I talked about how Black Friday is only one of seven days a week of potential profit. And this whole e-commerce thing kinda makes me wonder why there’s still so much focus on this one day.

OK, so maybe there’s the “It’s-a-big-part-of-tradition” thing. But if that’s the big selling point, why call it “Black Friday.” Why not call it “Family Shop Friday?” Or something even better than that (shouldn’t be too hard to do.)

It’s alway been “Black Friday” because of the potential profit.

Well, I don’t know if you’ve noticed or not, but there are some small businesses (Amazon, eBay, etc.) where you can shop 24 hours a day. And a lot of the time the stuff you buy can get to you in two days. Or maybe you have to wait up to four days. But that’s still WAY fast. Right?!

Yeah, people must use those websites. Because there’s never a day that passes when I don’t see a Prime van going by. Or a Fedex or UPS truck. Some people I know have stuff delivered almost daily. And all that shopping was done in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and dining rooms. Many times while the shopper was still in pajamas. And no crowds to muscle through.

So, you don’t have to wonder about potential profit. Because you can easily see ACTUAL profit in those online stores. After all, their owners are billionaires. And you don’t reach that status without lots of profits.

Hustle and bustle while you rustle up your feast

OK, I know you’re probably busy with last minute details before your feast tomorrow. So, I won’t keep you long. I’ve seen a lot of hustle and bustle this week. And it reminded me of a story I read about a get-together of about 140 people. Maybe you don’t think that’s a lot of guests. But I certainly do.

If I had that many coming over, my hustle and bustle would be in overdrive.

But this isn’t about me. Let’s get back to that story. Apparently there was a lot of food. And it was anything BUT what you and I might call traditional Thanksgiving goodies. I saw a list that included “freshly killed deer, assorted wildfowl,  and a bounty of cod and bass.” Yeah, they had fish. And no turkey and dressing.

Also there was flint, which is a native (to North America) variety of corn. And it was used to make corn bread and porridge. And we can’t leave out all the other veggies. Peas, beans, squash, cabbage, and carrots.

(Is anybody else getting hungry?)

The story I read said there was no flour or sugar. So obviously they wanted and/or needed gluten free, sugar free desserts. And that meant there wouldn’t be any apple, pecan, or pumpkin pies. Whoa! It’s not easy to think about a proper Thanksgiving feast without any of those. Right?

Of course, this story is about the first Thanksgiving Day. Which wasn’t called Thanksgiving Day. But that’s another story, and I’m not talkin’ about that today.

I just thought, since most Americans are in hustle and bustle mode to get to the store for supplies and get back home to warm kitchens, it’d be nice to think about how easy we have it.

All the hard work, to get our country started has already been done.

And all the trouble it took to recognize Thanksgiving Day as a national holiday has already been gone through. Now, all you and I have to do is remember which Thursday it is, go get the food, and put it all on the table. OK, maybe there’s a few more details than that. But you gotta admit, we got it pretty good.

And that’s kind of like how I wrote my RondaReady System book. To make sure wannabe business owners and entrepreneurs have it good when it comes to starting and running a business.

But even if you haven’t gotten the book yet, don’t do it till you get past this hustle and bustle weekend. Enjoy your family, friends, food, and other fun. Well, it’s the first day of the traditional work week. And you know what that means. Right? Yeah, it’s Motivation Monday. So, who’s ready to be motivated?

Please don’t tell me you’re like Melinda when it comes to Motivation Monday.

Because she didn’t look forward to the start of a new week. Much less a motivated start on those dreary Monday mornings. And she dreaded just about everything on her calendar. Well, besides her morning coffee. So, she’d hold on to that first cup of courage for as long as she could. Then, maybe she’d go online and look for some motivation.

Ok, I know, after a blurb like that, you’re pumped now. Yep, you’re ready to figure out your first moves and start moving. You don’t need some website or personality or quotes to get you off and running. Right? I certainly hope that’s right.

Because if you’re looking for someone else to motivate you, you’re setting yourself up for failure. No one can motivate you. Or “give” you motivation.

But that doesn’t mean there’s no motivational help anywhere. Because you can certainly find music or a movie scene or something like that to get you pumped up and ready to roll. But they don’t make you roll. You do. Or you don’t.

Because it really just comes down to what you’ll do to take action.

And it’s just as true with your business as it is with all parts of your life.

Maybe you could start your own Motivation Monday. It could be as simple as setting up your email list to send out emails on a regular basis. And let ’em know you’re ready, willing, and able to serve them well. Because, when it comes down to it, that’s the only way you can profit from your skills.

So, figure out what actions you need to take to get emails set up. And then take those actions. I know you remember what the Nike commercials say. Just do it.

And don’t listen to that little voice inside your head that says, “I don’t feel like it.” Or “This is too hard.”

Of course it’s hard. But people only succeed by doing the hard parts.

Like I always say, if it was easy, everybody would be doing it. But they’re not. But you can. And you will. Because you want success. Right? And because you already have my RondaReady system book. Your constant companion guide to get your business plugged in and running on all cylinders.

More is not always more. And it’s certainly not always better. For example, eighty-seven is more than four plus seven. Except, when it’s not. And it has a lot to do with how you use the numbers. For example:

Four score and seven years actually equals eighty-seven years.

And Abraham Lincoln used “four score and seven years ago” to start out his famous Gettysburg Address speech 160 years ago. The entire speech was only 271 words long. And, on the program for that day, it wasn’t the only speech. There was another one called an “Oration” billed as “The Battles of Gettysburg.”

It was 13,607 words. Edward Everett, a well-known politician, gave the speech. And it lasted about two hours. Yep, that sounds like a politician alright. But most accounts say it was a great speech. In comparison, Lincoln’s speech lasted about two minutes.

Now, tell the truth. You don’t even know how Mr. Everett’s speech started. Much less what it was about. Right? But Lincoln’s speech is famous. You might not know it off the top of your head. But I bet you recognize it the second someone starts to recite it.

OK, maybe none of this means a darn thing to you. But I think there’s a valuable lesson in Lincoln’s four score speech.

Keep a careful check on how much information you put in your brain.

Because business owners who don’t do that almost always suffer from information overload. Too many sources. And too many rabbit trails. A huge waste of your very limited time! Of course, it’s a little self-serving of me to put it that way. Because I believe you should focus on one main source of information so you can build the system that will serve YOU well.

And I believe my RondaReady system book could be that one main source of information. Because it lays out the system I’ve used to help tons of business owners ramp up their sales and profits in ways they never did before.

This probably isn’t you. So, if it isn’t, don’t waste time reading all of it. And feel free to get back to whatever you were doing. Especially if you’re one of those distraction free people I’ve heard so much about. You know the ones. Those smart people who shun smartphones.

Yeah, it’s basically impossible to be distraction free with a smartphone.

Matter of fact, I read an article that said average business owners (not you, of course) look at their phone about 52 times a day. Because that’s where all the vitally important text messages, social media notifications, and even phone calls (GASP!) are. Right?

Yeah, the might not be distraction free. But, with a smartphone in your pocket or purse, you can set up reminders, plan appointments on your calendar, and even listen to music or a podcast.

And people even shop from their phones. Not you and me, naturally. Where’s my eyeroll emoji?

Of course, I’m being a little sarcastic to prove a point. Because, when it comes to distractions, I’m just getting started.

And there are plenty of other potential time-stealing attention grabbers.

Like people interruptions. I’ve got one word for you. Kids. Raise your hand if you can relate. Yeah, lots of hands up. But people of all ages can interrupt at the worst times sometimes.

And a lot of business owners have never figured out how to deal with the mountain of potential distractions (again, this isn’t you, of course). Sure, they dream about a distraction free day. But then, even their dreaming turns into a distraction. Yikes.

But, like I said, probably none of this describes you.

And I bet you’ve never had an issue with equipment breakdowns. Or a sore back from the wrong chair position at your desk. Or bad lighting that makes your eyes way too tired way before your work is done. Nah, you’ve probably got it all under control.

I think it’s safe to say Richard Branson, the billionaire owner of Virgin Records or Virgin Atlantics Airways is a success story. Right? Yeah, my guess is he’d know a thing or two about the advantages of having a system and some form of a business manual. And I remember a real interesting quote from him:
