Debt is good. Seriously, this really does make sense.

You’ll probably disagree with me. But I’m gonna share these three words anyway. Debt is good. There. I said it. And I’m not kidding. And, even though I know there are some who agree, I know most level-headed thinkers will think I’m crazy talkin’.

Still, debt is good.

But not ALL debt.

So, maybe I should be more clear and say debt CAN be good. At least when you recognize you’re in debt and you came by it naturally.

Now, it’s all clear as the Mississippi River after a rainstorm. Right? OK, I’ll stop the verbal gymnastics and let you in on what I mean when I say debt is good, or debt can be good.

The moment you were born you were in debt. To your parents. And to anyone who helped bring you safely into the world. Of course, you weren’t expected to start making payments on that debt. You were a baby, for goodness sake.

But you owed (another way of saying debt) your very life to those other people.

Then, your debt continued to grow. Because your parents, loved ones, and other guardians fed you, clothed you, and paid for a roof over your head. But, thankfully, they weren’t keeping a tab. Well, at least those who love you don’t. Nevertheless, your debt increased.

But it was/is a good debt. Because it can be a measurement tool for how you can do the same thing for another person once you’re old enough and skilled enough to earn and care for others.

Makes sense, right? Pay it forward, or give back, or do unto others. However you say it, it makes sense to “make payments” on that debt you can never really repay. Because it shows you understand the value of serving others well who served you well.

And it’s the best investment of your time and effort.

On the other hand, not ALL debt is good. In fact, most debt these days, is expensive. And it’s like a self-inflicted slavery. Because it’s just money spent that you don’t have. On things that won’t ever pay for themselves. Plus interest. So, those things end up costing even more. Sometimes WAY more.

One of those things, these days, is often a college degree.

I’ve shared a lot of information about how investing in yourself is so valuable. And I’ve mentioned how an investment in you and your business or ideas shouldn’t cost you anything. No, that kind of investment should pay for itself. And continue to pay you back from then on.

I’m sharing that tidbit with you because it’s also true for the courses and System I sell.

My RondaReady System isn’t cheap. Even my YOUniversity course, which is a scaled down version of RondaReady for young people just staring out, isn’t what some would say is cheap.

Matter of fact, it might be too expensive for you and your business or your ideas. It might be too expensive if you don’t believe in yourself or your business or your ideas enough to follow through. And if that lack of follow through describes you, then jumping into YOUniversity will just be another debt.

And not one of the a good ones.

But if, and this might be a BIG IF, you’re someone who just needs some help getting started in the right direction, YOUniversity might be an awesome investment in your future.

How about we talk about it some more? Book a free call with me, with that handy calendar below. And give me a chance to see where you wanna go in life. I’d love to help YOU if I can. Let’s talk soon.

Business plan: What's love got to do with it?

Do you think it would be a good idea to add your family’s sharecropping history to your business plan? Or how about your involvement in your church when you were a teenager? Do you think that would be a good thing to include? Let’s see. What else?

Hmm, how about adding spousal abuse to your business plan?

That’s not a fun topic. But it might score you some points with the bankers if you need a business loan. Actually, I think a professional business consultant (me included) would tell you to leave all those things out of your business plan. Because they’re not relevant to your business.

But every one of those situations was relevant to Anna Mae Bullock’s life.

Yep, when she was born, her family sharecropped in rural Tennessee. And she started singing at a very early age. And, yes, a lot of that was in church. But, as a teenager, a lot of her singing included the rhythm-and-blues scene in St. Louis, Missouri after her family moved there. In 1956, she saw the Kings of Rhythm perform there.

And that group was led by a guy named Ike Turner. And I’m sure you just guessed that little Anna Mae Bullock was the girl who became known as Tina Turner.

I’m not gonna tell you the whole sordid story of how Ike was physically abusive to Tina. You’ve probably already heard about that or watched a movie about it. And I’m not gonna go into detail about how Tina got out of that relationship, spent some time figuring herself out, and then released “Private Dancer” as her debut solo album in 1984. 20 million records sold, three Grammy Awards, and best female performance of the year for “What’s Love Got To Do With It”

No, those accolades and milestones weren’t Tina’s business plan.

Because you don’t plan on becoming the daughter of sharecroppers. Or the victim of physical abuse. Or an award-winning, world-renowned singer.

Sure, you might daydream about that last part. And you might even put it down as your heart’s desire and main goal.

But Tina’s success happened because of behind-the-scenes business strategies. And plenty of actions taken for those strategies. Because someone (Tina) had a vision. And someone (maybe Tina’s manager) had a vision for how to help her achieve her vision.

As I’ve said, many times, you gotta have vision. You gotta know where you wanna go. Or else, how in the world will you know how to get there? Or when you get there?

So, that’s why the very first lessons in RondaReady YOUniversity are designed to help you discover your Vision. And they can help you focus your energy in the direction you’d actually like to go. With strategies to help you know how to get there.

How about we talk about it some more? Book a free call with me, with that handy calendar below. And give me a chance to see where you wanna go in life. I’d love to help YOU if I can. Let’s talk soon.

Figure out why so you can work on what

OK, stop doing whatever you’re doing. Put everything down or aside. And grab yourself a pen and paper. Because you need to figure out why you do what you do, today. Or why you wanna do whatever else you’d rather do.

Because if you don’t figure out why, then what’s the use?

Who cares if you can build fancy doodads? Or invent cool whatchamacallits? Or design software to speed up a bunch of thingamajigs? I mean it. Who cares? Especially if you don’t even know why you do any of that. Surely it’s not just for the money. Is it?

So, right now, write down your reasons and read ’em out loud to yourself.

And that might feel strange, but I’m confident it’ll help you figure out why you’re doing what you’re doing. Or why you wanna change what you’re doing so you can do something else. Yeah, my guess is, you already know why. But you just haven’t said it out loud. And you might be amazed at how much it helps to hear it.

Maybe your number one reason is the same as mine. Family. I do what I do so I can keep my working hours flexible. And there’s nothing like working for yourself to have enough flexibility to be there when they need you.

Then there’s also the financial security. I know most people think owning your own business means you don’t have financial security. But I believe in this day and age it can be more secure than working for somebody else. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, a job might be exactly what you want. Just be sure you figure out why.

My reason for starting my own business management consultant business was my kids.

Maybe that’s you. Or maybe you’d like the flexibility of being able to travel at a spur of the moment. It’s almost impossible to be that spontaneous if you have to answer to an employer.

The best time to do this is when you’re just heading out into the real world. Because you can head out there with a clear vision of who YOU are and what YOU want out of life. And I enjoy helping people do that.

So, that’s why I created RondaReady YOUniversity

YOUniversity is a collection of classes designed to help you discover your Vision.

Mississippi River steamboats, earthquakes, and a baby

Have you ever read up on the history of the Mississippi River steamboats? If not, you should check out some of what went on back then. It’ll sure make you appreciate how easy it is to get around these days.

The first Mississippi River steamboat was named New Orleans.

Makes sense, when you think about it. Because that’s the “end of the line” (so to speak) for river travel on Ol’ Man River. And the first steamboat trip down the river was certainly filled with adventure.

The New Orleans started out the journey in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Seems like an odd place to start when you think about how the Mississippi River is more toward the middle of America. But I won’t go into the why and how they did it. Just know that it started way back in 1811.

Nicholas Roosevelt, one of the business partners for that new travel venture, was the captain. And he took his pregnant wife and young daughter as passengers. Plus, their crew included the engineer, Nicholas Baker, and the pilot, Andrew Jack, and six deck hands, two female servants for Mrs. Roosevelt, a waiter, and a cook. Oh yeah, they also brought their family dog, a Newfoundland named Tiger.

During their trip they saw Chickasaw Indian warriors along the bank of the Tennessee River. Fortunately, those Indians were American allies against Britain in the War of 1812. But, also during that part of the trip, somebody left some wood too close to the stove. Thankfully they were able to put out the fire quickly.

Some time in October, the ship and its passengers had to wait for the waters of the Ohio River to rise up enough for the New Orleans to “pass safely over the treacherous Ohio Falls.” With just six inches clearance, they made it and continued down river.

Then, the crew and passengers experienced extra water movement from a series of earthquakes in the area. I know. It sounds like I’m writing the script for a disaster movie, right? But the ship suffered no damage from the quakes. Because the water acted as a cushion.

So, they thought the worst was over.

But, according to the article I read, “on December 16, the New Madrid earthquake…became one of the strongest North American earthquakes ever recorded. Seismologists estimate it was a 7.5 magnitude quake.” And you’d probably guess the New Orleans would be cushioned by the water again. Yeah, that’s basically true. But some other problems happened.

The New Madrid earthquake actually altered Mississippi River landmarks. The force moved river islands and river channels around so much that the pilot’s visual navigation was very mixed up.

Eventually, they made it to their final destination. And the New Orleans docked in New Orleans. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Mr. Roosevelt’s wife gave birth to their son, Henry, on board the steamship. Wow!

Their adventures proved that river travel, down the mighty Mississippi, was definitely do-able. And because they had constructed a durable, hard-working steamship, travel UP the river could be done, too.

Sure, travel UP the river was do-able. But it required a LOT more effort.

Because it’s always easier to go with the flow.

And that’s why this month’s UNversity how-to lesson is about what I call “In-process Workflow Development.” Because your work flows much better when you do what I teach in this class. But, if you haven’t already enrolled, you’re too late for this valuable strategy. Yep, that ship has sailed. The deadline to enroll, and be in time for today’s lesson, was yesterday, May 31 at midnight.

Good news is, you can easily meet the deadline for July’s class.

Enroll in UNversity, today. And enjoy how-to business lessons, for $15 a month. Your link is below.

Optimistic person in a realistic world

No doubt about it, there’s plenty of bad news out there. On social media, radio, and TV. But I’ll let you in on a little secret. And I hope it helps you become (or stay) an optimistic person in spite of it all. Are you ready?

Bad news has always been “out there.” And it always will be.

“How’s that gonna help me be an optimistic person?” you ask.

Well, I don’t guarantee it will. Because I don’t know what you’ll do with the information. I mean, are you the kind of person who can be optimistic despite what “everybody” says? Because here’s how I define an optimistic person:

Someone who doesn’t see the glass as half full OR half empty. No, the optimist says, “Alright! Water! I can quench my thirst and get some work done.”

And an optimist knows how to turn even small amounts of new information into big benefits. Like when entrepreneurs learn a time-saving strategy and implement that strategy on a daily basis. And then, after a time of focused persistence, they reach dreams and goals faster than they even imagined.

I’ve personally seen that happen. Lots of times. And it’s why I started RondaReady UNversity. To provide optimistic, persistent go-getters affordable chunks of information to help them get those kinds of results. UNversity is a monthly series of how-to lessons. Some a little longer. Some a little shorter.

And all with that same goal.

Each UNversity lesson is on the first Thursday of the month. And, for June, that’s tomorrow.

So, don’t put off these affordable lessons even one more month. Only $15 a month.

That’s fifty cents a day, for strategies, tips, and tools I’ve used for years to help build 6 and 7 figures businesses. For me AND my clients.

Today is the deadline to enroll for June’s class. After today you’ll have to wait for July’s class. So, don’t delay. Enroll today. When you implement what I teach, it’ll never cost you. Sure, you’ll buy it. But your increase in sales and profits will pay for it.

Sign up today, at the link below, and…

Forward motion is the only way for runners, rowers, and aviators

Oh yeah. Forward motion. What sprinter or long distance runner ever won a race by looking backward? And you can’t name one because they don’t exist.

What aviator ever crossed the oceans or flew around the world by flying backward? Again, there aren’t any. Planes don’t fly backwards anyway.

Nope. It’s only forward motion that works.

Because that’s where your prize is. Where your goal is. And where your dream is.  Forward motion can feel like rowing a canoe WITH the flow of a river. Every stroke of the oar can feel like five. But a lack of forward motion in your life can feel just the opposite.

Even your day-to-day communication can feel like rowing up river if you don’t have a system to help you stay organized.

That’s why next month’s UNversity lesson is called “In-process Workflow Development.” Sounds complicated. But it’s actually not. In fact, once you implement it, and make it a habit to implement it, you can save SO MUCH time and effort.

Yeah, June’s UNversity lesson is fairly easy and simple to learn. But the only way you can benefit from it, and get ahead of your competition, is to put your system into place and then work your system every day.

This is the same thing I show my one-on-one clients.

And they pay the big bucks to have me consult with them on these kinds of strategies. And there’s the key. Success in life happens strategically. Not accidentally.

But, at the risk of sounding like an athletic coach, I gotta tell you, most people don’t wanna do the work. They don’t wanna learn to think strategically. And, as a result, after the initial rush of an idea, they lose all their forward motion. So, they never even get to the good stuff like what I’ll be sharing in the UNversity how-to lesson for June 2023.

And YOU won’t get to it either if you miss the deadline to enroll. That’s tomorrow at midnight. So, don’t be one of those procrastinators who misses out. Enroll in UNversity, today. Strategic, concise business lessons, for $15 a month. Here’s the link to enroll:

Passion or purpose? Make mine a swirl, please.

There’s no shortage of self-help articles, books, blog posts, and websites on the subject. Passion or purpose? And I recently read an article that put it in perspective in one sentence. “Passion is about serving yourself. Purpose is about serving others.”

So, I think it’s not a matter of passion OR purpose.

I lean more toward finding and pursuing your purpose. Because it tends to work out that when do that, you find your market. And when you serve that market well, don’t be surprised how that can stir up a fire of passion no one can put out.

So, maybe forget the whole passion or purpose debate. Just be careful about putting all your passion into something nobody cares about but you. ‘Cause when that happens, it’s amazing how fast your passion can burn out. Instead, focus your passion on your purpose, develop a system, and build your business.

First, think about your passion:

    • What sparks excitement and joy in your personal life or professional life?
    • Do you love to learn new stuff? If so, what kind of stuff do you love most?
    • Is there something you do where hours go by and feel like minutes?
    • Is there something you’d do, even if you had to do it for free?
    • What are your best skills or talents?

OK, now think about your purpose:

  • Would you like to teach?
  • Do like to help others reach their goals?
  • Wanna see better results in your community?
  • Could your invention, product, or service make lives better?
  • Are you concerned about happier workers? Or families?

You get the idea. Right?

My purpose has been to help business owners and entrepreneurs (and those who want to be) get where they need and want to go. Better and faster. And I know it takes a System to do that. Believe me I know. Because I trudged along, for a while, before I built the RondaReady System. So, I know what a relief it is to be able to soar instead of trudge.

And I believe my System is the best one going. Because it has something no other system has. Me. And it’s the only CRM with a built in business coach. Or the only business coach with a built in CRM.

But maybe you’re not ready to invest that much in yourself and your business. No problem. I have another option. A low-cost monthly business how-to lesson with the aforementioned, ME.

And you’ve still got time to enroll before the deadline for June’s lesson on in-flow customer communication. Midnight, May 31 is that deadline.

But don’t put it off till then. Because some bling-bling might catch your eye, on Amazon. And then you’ll spend your hard-earned money on something that’ll never make your money back. Forget that silly idea. And take advantage of your handy dandy link, below. A $15 monthly investment in your passion or purpose or both. But if you can’t get passionate about that, then, by all means, go bling-bling.

If, on the other hand, you’re someone who’d like to take purpose further, faster, click or tap the link.

Affordable Business Coaching is in the eyes of the beholder

You can find whole websites dedicated to the idea of affordable business coaching. Matter of fact, Microsoft (you’ve heard of them, right?) has a site where they let business coaches put up a profile for their service. And you can find rates from $15 to $166. Oh, I should mention, that’s for a session of 30 minutes.

If that sounds like affordable business coaching, you should check it out.

Their coaches come from a pretty wide variety of backgrounds. So, if those rates sound good, I wish you well. And no need to read any more of what I’m sharing today.

In case you’re new to RondaReady.com I share monthly how-to lessons with subscribers to my UNversity membership. Usually I mention price at the end of my updates. But I’ll just go ahead and let you know it’s $15 a month. And the lessons come in videos you can watch as many times as you like or need. Plus, you’ll have access to all the previous lessons, dating back to when you first subscribe.

Typically each month’s UNversity lesson is contained in a video that’s about 15-20 minutes. The lesson for June, which is a week from today (as I write this) is more concise. It’s just a little under 5 minutes. And that’s because it lines out what I call the “In-flow Process” for communicating with your clients and customers.

You’ll need to take notes (or watch the video multiple times) because my information comes at you pretty rapid-fire. But I share some invaluable tips to help you get a huge jump on your competition who mostly isn’t doing these things.

So, it’s only quick and easy if you don’t implement the tips.

As always, the deadline to enroll for UNversity, and be in time for the next month’s lesson, is midnight on the last night of the current month. For June’s lesson (2023), that means the deadline is May 31, less than a week away. Lessons are always the 1st Thursday of the month. And it just so happens that the first Thursday of June is the first DAY of June. One week from today.

So, you’ve still got time before the deadline for June. But I don’t recommend procrastination. Because that sneaky little critter has a way of making you miss out on the good stuff. Take advantage of your handy dandy link, below. $15 a month That IS affordable business coaching for just about anyone. But if it’s not affordable enough for you, then you should wait.

For business owners and entrepreneurs who need some help to go further, faster, click or tap the link. And…

Mind reader tells you what a character you are

I saw an ad on a search engine results page. And it aroused my curiosity. Because it mentioned a mind reader game that’s played online. And I had a couple of spare minutes before my next appointment. So, I decided to satisfy my curiosity and see what it was about.

Turns out, a French company came up with an actual online mind reader.

Well, as “actual” as you can get with digital technology. But some people believe in the whole mind reader thing. So, I thought it would be fun to find out what this online game had to offer. And before you ask, no, I didn’t have mine read.

Apparently there’s this digital “genie” who tells you what you’re thinking. Their website says they have an “all-consuming passion” for “trying to guess characters by asking you “a series of questions that you’ll have to answer as truthfully as possible.” They ask you to “think of a character, real or fictional and keep it well in mind.” And then you “click on the menu play > characters.” Then, they ask you those questions, and the genie “will tell you what you were thinking of.”

Hmm, sounds like the answering a question with a question kind of thing. But maybe that’s the skeptic in me. And yes, I’m skeptical. Because…well…there’s no such thing as a mind reader. Especially not a genie on a website.

Guess who else isn’t a mind reader.

All your family and friends.

Family can be a blessing. And they can also be the ones who drag you down the most. Because they’ll compete for your time. Even when they know you’re trying to focus on something that’s important to you. Sure, they’re probably willing to “support you” as you work on your dreams and goals. But they don’t always know how.

So, you gotta let them know what you need. They don’t have any of those genie powers. And, most of the time, they don’t even know which questions to ask you. So, make sure you take time away from your business or your goals to show them how important they are. And how they can help.

Don’t be surprised when they rise to the challenge in a big way.

That being said, this is the time of year when young people are facing life after graduation. And if that’s you, or if you’re about to go out into the real world, you might be looking for a way to reach your goals and dreams faster.

So, that’s why the very first lessons in RondaReady YOUniversity are designed to help you discover and focus on your Vision. These aren’t free lessons, but maybe with a little help from family you could start as soon as today.

How about you and I talk about it some more? Book a free call with me, with that handy calendar below. And let’s see if YOUniversity might be the digital genie with the right answers for YOU.

Let’s talk soon.
