Is it just me? Or does April always seem shorter than it is. I mean, it has a day less than March and May. And that’s only a day. But it always seems to go by lots faster than the others. I’m not complaining. Because I prefer warm weather. And April is still cold right now where I live. But, it’s about time I got to the point about what I’m sharing with you today.

And it’s actually about time.

No, I mean what I’m sharing with you IS about time.

Way, way back when I was younger, when I thought I’d live forever (you know how it is when you’re young), I had a neighbor who was a crazy shopper. At least that was my take. Because, every week she drove to 4 different stores for her weekly shopping. One store for produce, one for paper goods. Another one for its deli. And so on. I saw how it took her just about all day long. She said the reason she shopped that way was to get the better prices.

Hmm. Does that actually add up?

So, let’s say you’re a business person who does the same thing. You have your database with one system. And your marketing automation is in another system. Maybe you use Google calendar or Apple’s Calendar on yet another system. Then, your performance management is on still another system (or no performance management at all).

And that might not be the worst problem.

Maybe you also depend on a team member or family member to help you with all those systems. But they’re not functionally familiar with any of them. And they can’t help you make the best use of any of them. But they’re willing to help out for “free.”

There’s that pesky word. Free. Remember time is money. So if somebody’s willing to help, but you gotta help them understand the system, that costs time. And that time equals your money. And that means it’s not so free after all. Right?

The more time you have to spend on different systems, or showing someone else how to use them, the more money you lose. And is that why you chose to own a business?

Or was it because you wanted more money and freedom? If that’s the real reason, then it’s about time you got your mind wrapped around time management. Or, as I like to call it, schedule control. Because when you control your schedule (your time), you’re well on your way to creating a system for your personal and business economy.

That’s a big part of why I developed my RondaReady System.

There have been lockdowns, shutdowns, mandates, and political gates. Lots of reasons why you can’t count on the same work scenario your parents or grandparents had.

These days you gotta make your own job security.

No, I don’t mean to go in and hold a company hostage like you might see in an action movie. Far from it. Your own job security would be based on YOU. And what you know. And your gifts, skills, and talents. The good news is, you have a world of resources at your fingertips these days. Literally. So, you truly can focus on being the very best YOU possible.

When you get a clear vision of who you are and what you offer, it’s like getting a shot of B vitamins. Or a long-lasting adrenaline rush fueled by your self-confidence.

Like the sharp-dressed, professional young woman who breezed into the waiting room of a large, local business and right up to the receptionist desk. And the lady behind the desk barely looked up and said, “Take one of the survey sheets, have a seat, and fill in all you can. She didn’t wait to be picked. She picked herself.

That’s a fictional story. But it’s based on true stories that DO happen. And people who show that kind of confidence tend to end up with clients and customers instead of jobs. Or, if they’re actually looking for a job, they tend to get the better (and better paying) ones.

I’m sure you’ve seen the different ways you can make a contactless payment at lots of places these days. Most of those places allow for the wave of card. Or a thumbprint. And even a scan of your face.

And Amazon, that tiny online store, is testing other ways to make your shopping quick and easy. Like Dash Cart. It’s a system that lets you scan products as you put them in your shopping cart. And then you can walk out without going through the checkout line. Easy peasy.

Customer feedback has been positive where those Systems have been put in place. Because who doesn’t love easy peasy? Right? No wonder a smile is part of Amazon’s brand.

I’m not trying to talk you into or sell you a contactless payment setup.

I’d just like you to take notice of the “Systems” part.

Because, whatever you plan to do or build, I can almost guarantee it’ll go better when you plug it into the right System. And I only say “almost” because I don’t know who’s gonna do the work and who isn’t. But I DO know that System Thinking can help you organize like nothing else can.

I still love this quote from Jim Rohm, “You cannot make progress without making decisions.” And I think it’s a habit that’s more important than ever to get into. Indecision is a killer.

Because if you’re indecisive about small things, that leads to indecision in the big things. And that’ll kill your dreams and goals faster than just about anything. I know how difficult it is to make a decision when it involves money and time. But you WILL make a choice.

Even when you don’t proactively make a choice. Because not deciding to do something is actually deciding NOT to do something. You DO see that. Right? But decision making doesn’t have to be like that at all. And you CAN get control over those feelings of doubt. I can assure you. I know what I’m talking about.

I remember when I discovered it was more important than ever to decide.

It happened years ago, when I decided to take more control of my life. I had made what turned out to be some less than desirable choices. So, of course I got less than desirable results.

And I figured out I’d better set me up a system I could use to stay focused and on track. Because I had some life goals in mind. And I needed to be able to plan and see the best way to get there.

I didn’t know it right then. But that was the seed that would eventually grow into my RondaReady System. And, when I first started, I dreamed and hoped it would be successful. And  that it would be a system to help business owners and entrepreneurs actually RUN businesses.

I knew, at the time, things had to change. There had to be a better way. And just hadn’t found it. So I decided (KEY word, decided) to build my own better mouse trap. And then build my business. And it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Because my system helped take the huge stress out of decision making.

I just wished I had started a lot sooner.

And that’s why I developed RondaReady YOUniversity. Because I wanna help smooth the way for younger people just starting out in the big, bad business world.

Nikola Tesla’s name came up again, recently. I guess that happens more here in Colorado Springs where I live and work because Mr. Tesla spent some time here. I shared a little of his story a few years ago. But in case you missed it, I’d like to share it again. And then I’ll tell you why.

He studied math and physics at the Technical University of Graz. And he studied philosophy at the University of Prague. And one day, back in 1882, he went for a walk and a great idea popped into his head. Well, not being the kind of guy to let a good idea go to waste, he immediately started sketching his ideas for a brushless AC motor, with rotating electromagnets, in the sand. Now, that’s Success Thinking.

And, obviously, Nikola Tesla had it in spades.

Tesla knew precisely what he wanted to achieve. And he knew why it was important to him. He knew how to set goals for himself. And he was committed to taking the necessary steps to achieve them. From what I’ve been able to pick up, in articles about him, his ability to stay focused was second to none.

Think about it (pun intended). Everything starts as an idea. Right?

And that’s why great idea people, like Nikola Tesla, spend a lot of time thinking. Because idea people know that when you think, with focus, you can get a clear vision. And if you can “see it,” there’s a better chance you’ll be able to do it.

That’s why I teach what I call System Think. Consider this, for example:

Who do you spend more time with than anybody else on the planet? YOU. Right? And since you spend every waking, sleeping, walking, talking moment with yourself, it’s a great idea to get your thinkin’ straight.

YOU know what I’m talking about.

All that negative self-talk. Those things you tell yourself which your self shouldn’t oughta hear. Like “I’m not smart enough to come up with good ideas.” Or how about, “There’s no way I could ever do what so-and-so did.” And maybe you’ve even wondered, “How am I supposed to compete with them? They’re better lookin’, have more money, and everybody likes them.”

Yeah, NO. That’s just stinkin’ thinkin’.

It could be so much better if you tell yourself you CAN reach your goals. And it could be so much better if you could see yourself successful. And not as a failure? No comparison.

The most successful people are usually the ones who could see themselves in that position long before they got there. And they didn’t allow that ol’ devil, Self-Doubt, to creep into their heads.

If you wanna get to the Success Thinking, you gotta get control of your whole thought process. But where do you learn how to do that? Most parents don’t pass Success Thinking on to their kids because it wasn’t passed on to them.

Have you ever heard of Rosalinde Torres? I confess I didn’t know who she was before I read a quote from her this morning. But she’s a business consultant and speaker. And here’s the quote I read this morning that might apply to YOU. She said…

“So what makes a great leader in the 21st century? I’ve met many, and they stand out. They are women and men who are preparing themselves not for the comfortable predictability of yesterday but also for the realities of today and all of those unknown possibilities of tomorrow.”

Wow. Let that sink in some more. The “comfortable predictability of yesterday.” The “realities of today.” And the spookiest one, “those nknown possibilities of tomorrow.”

Does that sound like talk from a typical business consultant?

According to one website article, a business consultant has a variety of responsibilities. When you hire one, they might help you design a business plan. Or maybe they’ll help you come up with your marketing plan and sales strategies. And they could even help you with public relations.

The article added that your business consultant could help you develop problem-solving and other real life skills (hmm…that sounds familiar). Because that person can be objective about problems your business might have. And they should be able to provide suggestions for solutions.

I’ve called myself a business coach for a long time. Because I prefer to be a cheerleader for your success. Not just an ear to bend and a mouthpiece of data-driven advice. Those are important. But I think real relationships are more important. So, I’m a coach. And I’m comfortable with it if clients prefer to call me their business consultant.

But the main thing is this. When you hire me, or get one of my business-building courses, I don’t want YOU to have to pay for it. I want your added sales and profits to cover it over and over.

Because that’s what can happen, when you do the work I show you how to do.

I know because I’ve seen it happen many times.

Of course, I can’t promise your results will be like the results of my clients who’ve reached 6 and 7 figures annual income. Because I don’t know how committed you’ll be. But my guess is, if and when you focus on your Vision, your dreams and goals, you’ll wanna stay committed.

Can you see it? Have you heard about it? Do you know what it is? And, if so, are you worried about it? Or have you decided to “embrace the future?” Of course the “it” I’m talking about is ai. Because ai is everywhere. And it’s coming to an office near you. Maybe even yours.

But what happens when ai is everywhere?

Do we need humans anymore? Won’t everything just end up being run by machines? Wow. Sure seems like I’m just full of questions and no answers today. Right?

But not to worry. I’ve got some data on the pro side of ai. According to stats, there are benefits like:

  • Helps reduce human error
  • Automates repetitive tasks and processes
  • Easily handles tons of data
  • Speeds up decision making
  • Can take the place of humans in HazMat situations
  • Assists in medical applications
  • Works like a digital assistant
  • Full-time availability

 

So, there you go. I’m out of a job. Because ai can do everything for you I can. Plus it can help you with your medical, HazMat, and data processing work. So, why would you need your own R.O.N.D.A. anymore?

Not so fast, fellow human being. We gotta understand some pretty important details.

First, ai can help reduce human error “if programmed correctly.” And ai can automate repetitive tasks and processes if it’s been given the right data. Next, it can handle tons of data. But who gives it the data? And what data does it handle? Then, ai can speed up decision making. But only once it “knows” what the decisions are. And even then, it certainly won’t process something like gut feelings. And those are real.

Plus, here’s the KEY thing.

Any technology, even so-called “smart tech,” requires human input to exist. In other words, ai will always require AI. Yep, artificial intelligence needs Actual Intelligence. For example, there are no robots, all by themselves, starting and running businesses. Because they can’t do that.

But YOU can. And your Actual Intelligence could benefit greatly from the artificial intelligence I’ve already included in my RondaReady System. I’m talkin’ about the action steps and automation included in the RondaReady CRM. And I don’t just sell it to clients and help them use it. I use it myself. Every. Single. Day.

“I held myself accountable. Because it was set in front of me. And I knew what I needed to do. Before, I didn’t have that. So, it’s nice for me to actually have it visually…to see and hold myself accountable. I know, when I’m sitting down writing goals, not only in business, but personally do, I know what to write down and where to put them. And I know I need to see them daily in order to accomplish them. And things like that would have been extremely helpful my whole life. It would’ve been great to know starting way back…in school.”

Did you catch that “hold myself accountable” part?

She also said, “The time organization has given me an outline of what my day should be like. Not only day-to-day, but the next day, the next week, the next two weeks, and for months. It’s basically given me the structure I need to keep moving forward and know what I need to be doing every day.”

Then Jennifer added more about study habits and how System Thinking is great for school kids. She talked about her own study habits as she grew up.

“I taught myself to cram before a test. And that was basically staying up all night. I DID do OK. But that’s not a good study habit to have. I’ve seen my oldest kids struggle with study habits. So, I think you gotta have a personalized study plan or a life skills study plan. And I don’t think she’s (oldest daughter) learning that at all. Yes, I think that stuff’s important. And no, I don’t think they’re (kids) getting that anywhere, except for home life.”

What Jennifer is talking about is my RondaReady YOUniversity. So, I asked her thoughts about whether it could be used for young people who are just starting out in the real world.

And she said…

“Yeah, definitely. I feel like it would be a benefit. And I feel like it would be a benefit to start earlier. Maybe even middle school. I mean, that’s when kids start to grow into who they actually are. But definitely high school and college…yes.”

I just read a small business news press release. And you might think I’m about to share some doom and gloom with you. But it’s actually the opposite.

Because the small business news, I read, looked optimistic.

According to the press release, more than 25% of “small businesses are growing.”

The release also said “owners attribute their success to the renewed interest and demand in their industry, and to changes implemented in their business.” The changes they made included restructuring and getting more focused. Wow. Sounds like stuff I talk about all the time. But enough about me, for now.

Also according to the small business news, in the press release, business owners say their “top concern in the first quarter of 2023 is hiring qualified workers.” And their next important concerns include:

  • Rising costs of employees’ pay/salary
  • Inflation, and
  • Making sureCongress implements policies and regulations that positively impact their business

 

But here’s something I really liked.

The press release also said “small business owners are taking action amid rising interest rates.” I’m tellin’ ya. It sounds like they’ve been reading my articles. Because I’ve talked about the importance of taking action for years. I even included vital action steps in my RondaReady CRM System.

But back to the small business news.

Actions those business owners are taking include.

  • Price increases of services or goods
  • Not taking business or personal investment opportunities
  • Postponing business equipment purchases

 

And almost a third of small business owners are leery of borrowing money due to increased interest rates.

So, here’s why I think that’s all good news for YOU.

And me. Because that press release shows how important it is to invest in YOU and your business. And also how important it is to invest in taking stock of your vision so you can focus on the best actions to help you reach your goals.
