Would you believe I actually think about CRM benefits every day? It’s true. And I help somebody make good use of those benefits, practically every day, too. Sometimes it’s quite a few somebodies.

And I wanna help somebody else, today, too.

Because it’s a big part of what my whole business is about. Your favorite coffee shop owner wakes up way before dawn to get the coffee brewing. And your grocery store owner opens the doors early just so you can pick up something on the way to work, if you need it. And, just like them, I get up in the morning and say, “Time to help somebody build their business better and faster.”

(OK, maybe I don’t actually say that out loud. But it’s on my mind.)

Today, I remembered an article where another business guy talked up the benefits of a CRM system. I saw the headline…

“The only thing that truly matters is the RESULTS in your CRM.”

So, being a CRM System Savant, I naturally had to see what he meant by that.

He pointed out how procrastination is a weakness that’ll “eat you up and spit you out.” And he used this quote: “Boldness magnifies bravery, while hesitation magnifies terror.”

Yikes! How’s that for motivation not to procrastinate?

There were several other points I enjoyed in that article. But the main idea was how important it is to have a CRM System.

And that’s even truer these days than it was when I first started helping business owners set up and run their businesses with a good CRM system.

So, that’s the main way I can help somebody. And I love the ripple effect it can have on people. They not only get a much more efficient business, but they also tend to enjoy a better life.

Emergency instructions. I just took a flight, for some much needed down time, and I got to hear the flight attendants tell us what to do in case things go wrong.

If you’re a frequent flyer, you’ve definitely heard the emergency instructions.

So, what are you supposed to do when the air masks drop? And what are you supposed to do if you have kids? You got it. Put YOUR mask on first. Then, you can put your kids’ masks on. And of course, that’s because if you drop out due to lack of oxygen, you’re not gonna be able to help anybody. Much less your children.

It might seem like that should be common sense. But my guess is, it isn’t. Or else, why would they have to include that in the emergency instructions?

So, what does any of this have to do with you, if you’re not even flying anywhere? Well, you never know when you’re gonna get swooped up by an airplane, and…just kidding.

No, seriously, the same principle applies to your dreams and goals.

Even if you hope to have a successful online business to sell your products, services, and information, you gotta be sure YOU are Ready.

First, you gotta be sure you’ve got the real skills it takes to be successful in the real world. Then, you gotta get your own business in order. And then, you can take care of your customers and clients.

And that means you need a System.

Because you won’t be any good to much of anybody if YOU and your business are on life support. And here’s what that looks like…

College debt. There are two words that go together like oil and water. I’ve read some articles, recently, that shared some sad statistics. Check out this little snippet about why students take on debt for college.

“Most U.S. students have an incentive to borrow. Because higher education is typically required for the highest-paying jobs. A worker with a bachelor’s degree earns 1.8 times the amount a person with a high school diploma does. And those with doctorates or professional degrees earn more than double, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

However, analysts caution that the return on investment in terms of future income can vary widely, depending on factors including a student’s major and the institution they attended. Some recent research found that although a college education still provides a boost in earnings, the increase in wealth a degree provides has declined significantly over the past fifty years, due to the rising cost of college and the increase in other forms of consumer debt.”

So, is college debt all it’s cracked up to be?

I’ve mentioned this before, quite a few times. But I just don’t believe college is even necessary for many, if not most, business owner and entrepreneur wannabes.

Of course, if you’re gonna be a doctor or lawyer, those systems will require college and beyond. But for the rest of us, not so much. We’d just like to pursue a vision to serve others with our products and services. So, college debt is absolutely not necessary.

In fact, I truly believe you can take a much more focused approach to your dreams. And I truly believe you can make things pay off much faster when you focus on YOU and your system.

And sadly, college (like high school) doesn’t teach you how to set up a system that focuses on YOU and your skills. So, that’s why I created RondaReady YOUniversity.

Imagine being able to put over 200 dishes into a machine and then see those dishes come back out a little while later as clean as if they’d been hand-washed. Wouldn’t it be awesome if somebody couldn’t invent one of those? Sorry, what was that? You say it’s been done? Seriously? Wow, it seems like all the best invention ideas have already been done.

But a machine to wash the dishes is one of the best invention ideas ever.

Because those machines can save a lot of time. Pretty important in our modern, busy lives. Right?

But it might interest you to know the first commercial dishwasher was patented in 1886. Long before our modern, busy lives. And maybe you’d be interested to know a young mechanic, named George Butters, helped work on the prototype for that first dishwasher. The work was done in a woodshed behind the house of the inventor, J.G. Cochran.

J.G. wanted a machine that could “save time and prevent broken crockery.” And since nobody else stood up the challenge, J.G. decided to “do it myself.” So, Cochran invented a device with pulleys, gears, and belts that used water pressure, instead of scrubbers, to wash dishes and cutlery held in place on racks.

There were some serious challenges through the patent process. But once Cochran’s application was approved then came the production obstacles. J.G. couldn’t get help to manufacture the dishwashers because others wanted to do things their way. But their ways didn’t work. And finally, after they were convinced Cochran’s invention ideas were better, they finally helped.

But then other challenges popped up.

Especially when it came time to sell the dishwashers. J.G. wanted to sell directly to women. Because they would be the ones who’d appreciate how much time and drudgery a dishwasher could save. But very few households, from that time in the 19th century, could afford to pay the $100 price tag. So, the main customers turned out to be hotels and restaurants.

However, that was yet another challenge. Because Cochran had to enter those establishments alone. And to just cross the great lobby of the Sherman House hotel, alone, was, as J.G. described it, “almost the hardest thing I ever did, I think. The lobby seemed a mile wide. I thought I should faint at every step, but I didn’t. And I got an $800 order as my reward.”

You might wonder what would make him so scared.

But THAT’S where you’d make your mistake.

Because J.G. Cochran was not a “him.” She was Josephine Garis Cochran. Bet you never heard of her. Right? Yeah, basically no one has. She lived from 1839 to 1913. And her Cochran’s Crescent Washing Machine Company was sold to the Hobart Corporation in 1926. They manufactured appliances under the KitchenAid brand. And KitchenAid was acquired by Whirlpool in 1986.

Josephine became a very successful businesswoman at a time when women were not expected to own businesses or come up with invention ideas.

And she was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2006. Then, In 2013, exactly 100 years after she died, Romania issued a postage stamp in her honor. And she never even had a connection to that country during her life. So, look how far her influence went into the world. All because J.G. had vision.

And that shows why I make such a big deal of figuring out what your vision is. It’s such a big deal that it’s a main area I teach in RondaReady YOUniversity.

Last Friday I shared some lyrics to a song from the 60’s called “Friday On My Mind.” And it was a reminder that you only had a couple more days to take advantage of massive price cut from RondaReady YOUniversity. I read an article that said, “89% of students from the first generation in low-earning families tend to drop out of college.” And the article shared how finances are one of the biggest reasons for students quitting college.

More drop out stats include:

  • Students can’t find or create a healthy school-work-life balance
  • The so-called “social life” feels “like high school all over again”
  • A general lack of family support
  • And many can’t meet the academic qualifications

 

But that’s not necessarily bad news.

Because a lot of things we take for granted, these days, came from the minds of people who dropped out of college. In fact, when you add up some achievements of the top 30 college dropouts, it’s pretty impressive what they’ve accomplished.

  • Almost 2 million employees among them
  • Over $600 billion net worth
  • And more than $40 billion donated to charity

 

Each college dropout on that list has hired lots of employees with college educations. Sounds almost fictional, right?

So. What does this mean?

Well, it means you should drop out of college, of course! Just kidding (sort of).

Because I don’t know what your dreams and talents are. And I don’t know what your financial situation is. And I don’t know how well you’ll be with school-work-life balance. So, I have no idea if a college education is right or wrong for you.

But I DO know it’s not for everybody. And it certainly isn’t a necessary ingredient for your success anymore.

Because the internet is (or at least, can be) the great equalizer.

You literally can educate yourself well enough to go for your dreams in ways a lot of history’s famous college dropouts could only imagine.

You can pursue, and even monetize, your passion. Even if your passion is to sell tumbleweeds. Or talk about hair and makeup. Those aren’t random examples, by the way. They’re real.

There are college drop outs who make big bucks doing those things.

Of course, it’s risky to go all in on your dreams, your ideas, your passion. But nowadays YOU get to hold AND deal the cards. And that’s an advantage basically no one had back in the so-called “good ol’ days.”

Now, you don’t even need a brick and mortar store. And you can pitch and sell your goods and services to a potential audience of millions. Not just foot and car traffic. Sure, there are no guarantees. But guess what?

There never were. And there never will be. So, here’s my recommendation.

Get a clear picture of where you wanna go. Then, come up with some strategies to help you take action steps to build steady income. And then, build Your System to be the hands-free CEO of your own business.
