You are the reason, at least if nothing else is.

You’ll see this advice all over the place. And it’s obvious why you would see it. Because it makes sense. But coaches, consultants, and advisors of every flavor will tell you that you’ve gotta know your “why.” What it is that would drive you to do what you’re doing. Or what it is that would motivate you to pursue that dream. And if you can’t immediately think of another motivator, then YOU are the reason.

And it’s not a selfish thing to say YOU are the reason.

Well, it can be, if you let it. But in and of itself it’s not selfish. Because you might realize the most important thing you can do, right now, is to prepare the best YOU that you can. But how do you know what’s the best YOU?

Well, you can compare yourself to others.

When I first started creating business and social media profiles, of course, I wanted to put my best face forward. Who wouldn’t? So, I hired a professional photographer for a professional headshot. And I set up a cover image, on those profiles, with the “right info.” And then I checked to see how I compared to others online.

But then it dawned on me. People only show you what they want you to see.

And you could get discouraged when you see those “perfect” profiles and pictures. Or, who knows? You might be encouraged because you think you look much better than the average Joe or Jane. Either way, that shows how easy it is to get the wrong impression of YOU.

So, getting back to your whole “why” stuff…

If YOU are the reason you’re gonna do what you do today, then YOU are the starting point, too. But the starting point to what? Where do you want to go with the new and improved version of YOU?

And what’s your plan to make forward momentum every day? Do you have a plan for some action steps you can take each day to get you closer to what you want in your life? Yeah, improving YOU is a great place to start. But, as you can see, it’s a tiny scratch on the surface, if success and fulfillment are parts of your goals.

I’ve helped a lot of young (and not so young) newbies focus on their “why.” And I’ve helped a lot of them take their dreams and goals to a level they only dreamed of before we connected.

So, if you’re in that figuring out stage, or even if you’re ready to roll, I’d love to talk to you about how I might be able to help you get better results faster. Book a free call and let’s talk soon. After all, YOU are the reason I do what I do.

What next? Yeah, that question never comes up.

A friend of a friend is really into essential oils. And I can certainly see why. Have you ever smelled some of them? Wow. Quite a treat for your nose. And this friend of a friend told me how she got started. First it was just her passion. But she decided to see if she could make a business of it. And her first question was essentially (see what I did there?) “What next?”

I think “What next” is probably every newbie’s first main question.

I mean, it’s usually pretty easy to figure out what floats your boat, what makes you wanna get up each day. But it’s not quite so easy (translation: extremely difficult) to figure out the next steps. And that’s where the doer-dreamers leave the dreamers-only in the dust.

Notice I didn’t remove “dreamers” from the equation. Because I believe you gotta have a dream. I call it your “vision.” And I talk about it quite a bit with my new one-on-one clients.

But, back to the friend of a friend and her essential oils business, for a minute.

When she got to her “what next” point, she first started with YouTube videos. And the good news is, you can find a lot of videos, for just about anything you need help with, on YouTube. And if you’re willing to sort through the noise to find the nuggets, you can glean a lot of good business advice there.

But the friend of a friend found out what most new business owner wannabes find out. Those YouTube videos don’t show you how to run YOUR show. Because they’re not tailor-made for YOU. And that’s why evidence shows new business startups are turning to business coaches more and more. You can connect with a business coach at any stage of your business growth. But I believe it’s most essential (see what I did there, again?) when you first start out.

And why would I say it’s essential when you first start out?

Because that’s the absolute best time for business coaches to help you avoid the worst mistakes. And that’s when they can best help you establish the System to keep you more productive and build up better and faster.

Fortunately, for the friend of a friend, she took that next step and worked with a business coach who helped her turn her passion into a business that now pays all her bills.

Isn’t that just the coolest thing? I mean, think about it. You get an idea. And you dream about what it would be like to turn it into something real. And then you actually see it through and end up with the life you dreamed of. What could be better? Of course, that’s basically a rhetorical question. Because the answer’s, naturally, nothing.

If you’re a doer-dreamer type who’s wondering “What next,” book a free call with me and let’s talk about it. Because I’d love to help you focus on your essentials (yeah, I did it there again) and help you set yourself up for that life you see in your head. Check the calendar, below. And let’s talk soon.

Promises Promises. Have you heard 'em all before?

I need to share some things with you so you can fully understand how important your attention is to me. And I don’t take your time for granted. Because I know I make online business coach claims on my website, and in my emails, that might seem hard to believe. At least on the surface. And some readers could slough (aka: sluff) it off as just promises promises. So, I want you to know some things about me and what I do. And why.

But first. What I don’t do.

Promises promises I don’t make.

I don’t promise to teach you how to make lots of money. That includes how to make money on social media, in particular industries, or even on your own website. Because I can’t teach you how to make lots of money in your focused area. I might not know anything at all about what floats your boat. So, no promises about the money.

And I don’t teach you how to create a “funnel” for your business or your website. In the first place, I’m not a “funnel guru.” And in the second place, a funnel might not work so well if you don’t have enough advertising money or a big following. And that goes back to the first promise I don’t make. So, I certainly wouldn’t try to trick you into believing you need a funnel.

Next, I won’t promise to find your ideal audience. The amount of time it would take me to do that for you would be something you couldn’t afford. Especially if you’re just getting started. And even if I found your ideal audience you’d still have to be able to attract them to your offers and your products and services. Plus, it’s YOUR responsibility to discover who YOU can serve best.

Also, I don’t promise you’ll be able to do something I’ve never done. And you might be surprised at how many scammers out there who do that very thing. They know how to set up a website or social media profile that looks all professional and everything. And they know what to say to tug on your desires to be successful. But they don’t truly have their own successful business.

So, they just make promises about how you’ll “skyrocket” your income. Or “explode your profits.” But if they don’t have their own successful business, outside of their how-to guide, be very cautious.

Finally, I don’t promise to help you do something I’ve never helped anyone do.

Anytime you look for business advice, it’s crucial to be diligent. Make sure the person you listen to has helped other REAL people do REAL things successfully. Look for testimonials. And case studies. From people who have first AND last names. If you’ve read my articles and emails, you’ve seen how many I’ve shared. And it’s a lot.

So, if you’re someone whose tire of promises promises. And someone who wants to turn dreams and goals into a good-paying lifestyle, I’d love to talk with you more about it. So, book a free call with me. Let me know what you wanna do. And let’s see how I might help you do it faster. I promise, that’s something I truly would like to do. Calendar times below.

Goals for 2023? Hmm, whatever should they be?

I know it’s an already the second week of February. But it’s still a good time to set your goals for 2023, if you haven’t already. Because you can still mak a huge difference in what you can accomplish for the year.

What are your goals for 2023?

I’ve seen a lot of people posting some of theirs on social media channels. See if any of these strike a chord:

  • More blog posts
  • Share more knowledge with more people
  • I’m coming for you, obesity
  • Get a handle on financial stability
  • Make more progress instead of more excuses
  • Connect with like-minded people from around the world
  • Start a Newsletter
  • Build a better website
  • Get my business going and leave my job

I saw lots more. But those are a great example of what’s going on in the minds of people like you. People who wanna take the world head-on and “make something happen.”

But most of those goals for 2023 I just shared are flawed.

Because they’re not specific. So, they’ll be much more difficult, if not impossible, to reach. And, while I certainly don’t want to discourage them, I do recommend a more focused approach.

My RondaReady System includes tools and resources to help you focus your goals. And clearly define your personal skills and talents. I know this term gets used a lot, but it truly IS a roadmap to success..

Most people never write down their goals.

But for the three percent of the population who do, success is a lot more feasible. So, it’s worth it to take the time. And write down your goals for 2023. But make sure they line up with how you want your whole life to go. Then, break it all down into small steps. And take the first step.

And if you’re not sure how to get to that first step, or even where it is, I’d love to talk to you about how the RondaReady System can help. Book a free call with me, personally, and let me know more about you. The handy calendar is below. And I look forward to talking with you soon.

Stay Ready,

Bat signal that's not for the masked crusader

OK, this is gonna sound a little batty. Because I’m gonna share some info about how researchers have figured out how to tell one bat signal from another.

And I don’t mean the bat signal to summon the masked crusader.

I read this very interesting article about it in Scientific American. Don’t ask me how I ended up there. It doesn’t matter. What matters is how a guy named Yossi Yovel monitored a bunch of Egyptian fruit bats for two and a half months. And he recorded the sounds they make. He called them “vocalizations.”

Mr. Yovel, and his team adapted a voice recognition program to analyze about 15,000 sounds those bats make on a daily basis (I thought bats only came out at night in scary movies). And they used an algorithm to correlate “specific sounds with specific social interactions captured via videos.” By doing all that, the team of researchers discovered that bats actually fight over food.

Who’d’ve thunk it?

But that’s not all those batty creatures talk about. Not by a long shot. And the research team classified the bat signals and found out that bats have a “much more complex language than we previously understood.”

Tell you what. I’ll share what the article shared. It said…

“Bats argue over food; they actually distinguish between genders when they communicate with one another; they have individual names, or “signature calls.” Mother bats speak to their babies in an equivalent of ‘motherease.’ But whereas human mothers raise the pitch of their voices when talking to babies, mother bats lower the pitch.” And that elicits a babble response in the babies that learn to ‘speak’ specific words or referential signals as they grow up. So bats engage in vocal learning.”

(Are you impressed yet?)

Check out what else they said…

“That’s a great example of how deep learning is able to derive these patterns from [this] instrumentation, all of these sensors and microphones, and reveal to us something that we could not access with the naked human ear. Because most of bat communication is in the ultrasonic, above our hearing range, and because bats speak much faster than we do, we have to slow it down to listen to it, as well as reduce the frequency. So we cannot listen like a bat, but our computers can. And the next insight is, of course, that our computers can also speak back to the bat. [The software produces] specific patterns and uses those to communicate back to the bat colony or to the beehive, and that is what researchers are now doing.”

Maybe it’s just me.

But I see so much behind the scenes in that story. For example, a team of people were fascinated enough by technology and bat signals to actually adapt technology to study those signals. Also, a lot of planning went into the classification of those sounds. And that’s a lot of work. So, I bet they didn’t start from scratch every day.

Plus, my guess is that Mr. Yovel pursued a passion when he started the study. And that means he focused on something that really got him motivated.

And that’s a big reason why I shared all this with you. Because it shows why I developed RondaReady YOUniversity. To help young people (or not so young) pursue their passion systematically.

I’d love to talk to YOU if you’d like to find out more about how YOUniversity can help you take your passion as far as Yossi did. Book a free call, in my handy calendar below. And let’s talk soon.

Contrarian thinking. A million good reasons to use it.

Are you familiar with contrarian thinking? It’s just sort of like it sounds. People who think and act differently from “the crowd” use it to do some amazing things and lead incredible lives.

I read an article that said most millionaires use contrarian thinking.

For example, millionaires are savers and investors. Most other people are consumers who keep themselves in a constant state of not having enough money. And most millionaires appear to have highly creative intelligence. So, they’re able to “see” what most others can’t. Plus, they often see the big picture and figure out where they have the best chance of creating wealth in the “grand scheme.”

The article I read included a great, short story about a guy who built a “blue-collar millionaire” business. And he shared some of how he got there. Here’s some of that story:

“My wife of twenty years and I have a wonderful marriage and three great kids that we are desperately trying to raise with sound values and common sense when it comes to money. This is very difficult. Because neighbors get new Mercedes Benzs every year. And they look down their noses at us because we live modestly. I drive a fifteen year old Buick.

I have never earned a large salary. And I have focused my efforts on building our net worth through investments and running the businesses that we have owned.

Our newest venture is an auto salvage business which is difficult and expensive. Because there is so much regulation and licensing. The previous owner went under in 2008. Because he was over leveraged in other ventures. And we were able to pick it up very cheaply in early 2009 because we were able to purchase it when no one was able to get money from a bank. After about 18 months this venture is doing fairly well.”

Yeah, a lot more than “fairly well.”

As it turns out, that auto salvage and scrap metal dealer has been on a list of top 20 blue collar millionaire businesses for a few years now. And the article added that “there are approximately 250M motor vehicles registered in the United States. And just prior to the recent economic meltdown there were more than 16M vehicles sold per year. Now there are only about 11M sold.”

So, what does that tell you and me?

Statistics say that fewer people are able to purchase new cars now. And more and more car owners have to keep their “used cars” going longer. And before you say, “So what,” and dismiss the stats, consider what it means for someone who runs an auto salvage business.

It means there’s never been a greater demand for used auto parts. And that means the inventory in an auto salvage yard gains value every day. But most people would look at auto salvage as just some “dirty job.” So, a person who uses contrarian thinking, like the guy in the story, is the one who can clean up. So to speak.

My RondaReady YOUniversity is based, at least somewhat, on that kind of thinking. I call it System Thinking. And I teach students how to do what the vast majority of the people they know won’t do. Because I love to help people figure out who they are and what they want so they can have their own success story.

Wanna find out more? Book a free call with me. Let’s talk soon and find out how YOUniversity could help YOU. Use the handy calendar below.

Business coaching is very bad for you

Well, let’s put it this way. Business coaching CAN be very bad for you. And it really comes down to who’s coaching. And how good their information is.

Because business coaching from friends and relatives can sabotage you.

Before you get mad at me because you think I’m talking trash about the people you care about most, hear me out. Believe me, I know how important it is to have friends and family on your side. Especially when you go out into the real world with nothing but a dream, a lot of coffee, and a bunch of passion.

When your family and friends support your dreams of owning a business, it can be awesome. Because that’s when they’ll give you encouragement and plenty of moral support.

But if those loved ones don’t actually know what it takes to run a successful business, sometimes their advice CAN sabotage your better judgment and efforts. Even if that’s not their intention. But sometimes good intentions need to take a back seat to good advice.

I read an article that mentioned a bunch of benefits that come with business coaching. And keep in mind, we’re talking about someone with a track record of helping business owners and dreamers get where they wanna go, much better and faster.

A professional business coach can:

  • Help you focus your vision
  • Show you how to set goals and create a plan to reach them
  • Keep things private so your stumbles and falls aren’t exposed as you learn
  • Help you focus on and understand your niche, your audience, your customers and clients
  • Suggest other products and services you could offer
  • Boost your confidence to be willing to take more risks
  • Provide accountability you wouldn’t have on your own

The article listed a few more. But they basically reinforced the ones I just shared. And I’ve been helping clients do those things for a long time now. Many of them have gone from having hobbies that provided a trickle of income to running businesses that pay the bills. And many others have seen incomes of 5 figures go to 6 figures. And 6 figures go to 7.

I’ve mentioned, before, how a lot of those one-on-one clients have told me they wished they would’ve started when they were much younger. And that motivated me to create RondaReady YOUniversity. It’s a somewhat scaled-down version of my intensive business coaching. With the nuggets newbies need.

YOUniversity is designed especially for business owner and entrepreneur wannabes just starting out in the real world. If that’s you (or someone you know), I’d love to talk to you about it. Use the easy peasy calendar, below, and book a free call with me. Maybe the only thing holding back from your dreams is a clear cut system to get you there.

That’s where YOUniversity comes in. Let’s talk soon.

Six figures don't happen for stick figures

I just read an article about a guy who sold his first company, when he was 21 years old, for “six figures.” And he decided to drop out of college so he could be the entrepreneur he wanted to be.

The 21 year old “six figures” college dropout was Kevin Kim.

And he said his mom even cried a little bit when he told her about his plan to drop out of college. She thought he was making a mistake and taking a huge risk.

But Kevin had built his six figure company from scratch with starting capital of only $2000. I was impressed to find out he saved that much from doing part time jobs. He didn’t borrow it from mom and dad or some bank or friend.

It might interest you to know that Kevin’s family left South Korea and moved to Canada when he was 11. So, it wasn’t like he had some sort of special financial advantages. But he did have something that I’ve found to be common with successful entrepreneurs and business people. Persistence.

For about 10 years, Kevin built digital products for startups and other entrepreneurs. But in 2020, he decided to pursue his own vision. I’m not a big sports enthusiast. So, I had never heard of Stadium Live. But that’s the company he started, and it’s now a “metaverse app for sports fans.”

Apparently you can create your own avatar, play mini games, enjoy interactive sports livestreams, and even buy digital collectible inside the Stadium Live app. And I guess fans must love it. Because the company is now valued at around $32 million. And it even has investing from an NBA star, a World Cup champion, and other venture capitalists.

Kevin shared 3 tips for running a successful company:

  1. Founder-market fit – when the founder can be passionate about what he’s doing
  2. Product-market fit – make sure there’s an audience for what you’re passionate about
  3. Company culture – it’s critical to “set a strong vision and set of values” for the team

Wow. It almost sounds like Kevin read my book or blog posts. Because I’ve been sharing the message of vision, mission, and values for a long, long time. And it’s been a key part of how I’ve helped lots of entrepreneurs turn their passions into six figures, and even seven figures, businesses.

And Kevin is a great example of why I’ve been talking about how college isn’t necessary for everybody. In fact, for some, it can be a stumbling block to creativity and passion.

Maybe you’re like Kevin. And maybe you’d like to pursue your passion. But you’ve got so many ideas swirling around in your head you don’t know where (or how) to start. What do you do? How do you focus those ideas into products and services? And those products and services into a business that can meet your needs in life.

If that sounds familiar, I’d love to talk to you. Because I think I can help. But I’d like to know more about your great ideas. And, together, we might get you started in the direction Kevin Kim took his ideas. Check my handy-dandy calendar, below, and book a free call with me.

Don’t put off your dreams. Success requires action. Stick figures don’t earn six figures. Let’s talk soon.

Farm fresh without the bacon, eggs, and milk

Farm fresh. Right off the bat that sounds like something good. Right? Yeah, who doesn’t prefer the freshest foods. And especially if they come right from the farm. Those foods tend to be the most delicious and nutritious.

So, are you farm fresh?

Or, more specifically, is your business farm fresh. No, I’m not asking if you serve up fruits, meats, and vegetables. Well, maybe you do because you’re a restaurant owner. Or chef. But that’s still not what I mean with that question. I’ll explain.

A real estate connection of mine reminded me about the acronym FARM a while back. In real estate it stands for: Fixed Area Repeatable Marketing. And it’s a very common term in that industry. But, of course, I thought about how farming, business, and marketing applies to basically everyone.

You don’t have to be a farmer to be farming for business. Yeah, even a business owner or entrepreneur who never drove a tractor or picked up a shovel has to plant seeds and grow some customers.

And the seeds YOU plant are known as target marketing or niche marketing in the world of business. On the farm, if you want cantaloup, you gotta plant cantaloup seeds. And if you want tomatoes, you gotta plant tomato seeds. So, in business, figure out who your ideal customers are, and market to THEM.

You gotta understand THEIR needs, wants, desires, and even their beliefs.

Otherwise, you certainly can’t sell them anything.

Here’s a basic truth, in business, just as it is in life. People do business with people they know, like, and trust. It doesn’t have to be all three at the same time. But it DOES have to start with at least one of those. And they’ll get to know, like, and trust you faster when they know you’ll serve them up the farm fresh ingredients, they need, to make more sales and profits.

One of the best business motivational lines out there goes something like this: “The best way to solve most of your problems is to help others solve theirs.”

So how’s your farm gonna do that?

Do you have a clear picture in your mind of who your ideal customer or client is? If not, ask yourself these questions.

  • What level of education do they have:
  • How old are they?
  • Are they in a relationship or not?
  • What fears are holding them back from your product or service?
  • What preconceived notions might they have about you and what you have to offer?

I’ve been helping my clients grow their businesses way better and faster for years. And I’ve built some awesome, ongoing relationships as a result. I’d love to talk to you about your business and see if maybe I could help you do that, too. Interested? Book a free call, and let’s talk soon. Calendar is below.

Enough time at last. Doesn't that sound great?

Picture yourself a year from now. And I mean, put yourself in a place you know you’ll enjoy. Relax. Take a deep breath. And imagine saying, “Ah, I’ve finally got enough time to do more of the things I want to do.”

Now, I ask you, who wouldn’t be glad to have enough time for that?

Of course, that’s a rhetorical question. Because every hard-working adult wants that just about more than anything. But the problem is, too many business owners and entrepreneurs shoot themselves in the foot. Because they don’t invest their time into a system that can pay back that time. Over and Over.

Back when I ran a homebuilding business in California, there were so many days when I felt I just didn’t have enough hours to get everything done. And there’s nothing like building homes in a highly competitive real estate market, in California, to make you wish you had more time.

But what a terrible thing to have to wish for. Especially since, as I discovered, it can pretty much all be solved with a good business system. Because without a system, you tend to start everything from scratch, repeat yourself, and run in circles just to find things.

With my businesses, back in my California days, I obsessed over the details. And spent too much time on the phone. And went to bed too focused on “tomorrow” to get a good night’s sleep.

Yeah, it’s bad habits like those that rob you of your rest AND your success.

So, I had to break the bad habits of doubt and worry. And replace them with good habits. Like brain dumping. And schedule control. And focus.

Plus, developed good habits. Plenty of fresh air, sunshine, and better food. And guess what?

I started sleeping better. And that helped me get up in a better mood. Ready to take on the world.

Then, I was able to read more. And a side benefit of reading, according to an article in Reader’s Digest, is that you could live longer. Yeah, the article said people who read at least 30 minutes per day, as a regular habit, live an average of two more years than non readers.

That might not sound like much. But reading also helps you think and focus much better. And it might even help you avoid brain problems like Alzheimer’s disease. So, those extra years could also be much more clear-headed years. And that’s no small thing. Right?

OK, I’m a business coach. Not a health coach.

So, enough about that.

I brought all this up because I’m serious about helping you have a more productive, successful business. At least if that’s what you want. And that’s why I produce my monthly UNversity classes. The latest class, for those enrolled, is/was today, February 2, 2023. But you don’t have enough time to enroll. Because the deadline passed this morning.

Those who ARE enrolled got a good look, in this month’s lesson, at some of the ways to stay relevant and top of mind using an optimized System.

You can still enroll. But you’re too late for February’s lesson. So, you’ll have to wait for the next class in March. If any part of the first couple of paragraphs describes you, I recommend you enroll right now while it’s on your mind. Then, you’ll be way ahead of deadline for March.

I believe you can benefit, big time, with the hands-on how-to coaching I share each month. Because I wanna help you build your business better and faster. And I know, without a doubt, you can do it with a proven system.

Or you can put off your dream of having enough time in your day for another month. Up to you. The handy dandy link to enroll is below.

Stay Ready,
