Job interview tips sound a lot like this other thing

Believe it or not, some people don’t want to run a business. In fact, they don’t want to ever be in charge of that kind of responsibility. Is that YOU? If so, when you’re ready to go out to find work, you might appreciate some job interview tips.

And the internet has no shortage of job interview tips.

I found some I’ll share. And I’ll show you how they’re very similar to business building tips.

One website emphasized “Practice and Prepare.” And they laid it out like this…

“Review the typical job interview questions employers ask and practice your answers. Strong answers are specific but concise, with concrete examples that highlight your skills and back up your resume.”

And they added…

“Your answers should also emphasize the skills that are most important to the employer and relevant to the position. Be sure to review the job listing, make a list of the requirements, and match them to your experience.”

Then, they inserted this note…

“Even the most well-prepared response will fall short if it does not answer the exact question you are being asked. While it’s important to familiarize yourself with the best answers, it’s equally important to listen carefully during your interview. That way, your response will provide the interviewer with the information they are looking for.”

And they added one more valuable suggestion…

“Also, have a list of your own questions to ask the employer ready. In almost every interview, you’ll be asked if you have any questions for the interviewer. It is important to have at least one or two questions prepared in order to demonstrate your interest in the organization. Otherwise, you might come across as apathetic, which is a major turnoff for hiring managers.

So, the “practice and prepare” part is sorta like the Get Ready stage I talk about in my RondaReady System. Because whether you want to run a business or get the best possible job, you gotta Get Ready for it. On purpose.

The article said you need to be prepared to highlight your skills. And I emphasize that in RondaReady YOUniversity. Because it’s crucial to Be Ready with the real skills you need out there in the real world.

And when I saw that one of the job interview tips talked about how you need to listen, I thought of the communication tools I talk about in my System.

I could go on and on. But I’d love to do that with you on a phone call. That way we can see how RondaReady YOUniversity could help you prepare to get a job OR run a business. Click or tap the link below, and book a free call with me soon.

Enough time in the day for what you actually DO want

You’ve probably said this to yourself at one time or another, “There’s just not enough time in the day to do all the things I want.” Because probably just about everybody has felt that way at one time or another. I know I have.

I used to own a home building business in California. And there were definitely more than a few times I thought there just weren’t enough hours in the day. Yeah, if you wanna feel like you work more hours than there are in a day, build houses. And then show and sell those houses in a highly competitive real estate market.

But I was young. And it was what I thought I wanted to do.

Because I didn’t take the time to truly envision my future. In other words, I didn’t get a clear picture  in my head of who I was and what I truly wanted in life. So, I tried to run in several directions at the same time. And, since there’s only one ME, that turned out to be impossible.

Yep, I found out there just wasn’t enough time in the day to do that.

Then, life happened in a bigger way. I had three kids. And that meant there was another direction I had to run every day.

But I soon found out I didn’t like leaving my kids while I ran out into the corporate world every day. Because the corporate world has a way of not giving you hours you can depend on. And that just didn’t cut it for me. Because I wanted my kids to be able to depend on me being there for them.

Oh man! If only I could have had something like RondaReady YOUniversity when I first started working. Yeah, I know that sounds like shameless self-promotion. But it’s still just as true. Because  the system in YOUniversity could have saved me a TON of headaches and time wasters.

Fortunately, you DO have access to RondaReady YOUniversity. And it can help you avoid a TON of headaches and time wasters. Because it’s based on the same 3 Stage System I’ve used to help lots of business owners make lots more money and have more freedom.

I recommend you call me and find out how RondaReady YOUniversity can help you focus on and envision your future. I promise you have enough time in the day for this call. And we’d love to show you how you can learn to System Think and jump into the Real world with Real skills. Click or tap the button below. Let’s talk soon.

Easy for you to say, but what comes next?

It’s easy for you to say you want to start a business. Because you’re a hard worker with great ideas. Right? And that hard worker part is key. Because great ideas are a dime a dozen without follow through.

But that’s the problem with work. It feels too much like work.

Yeah, it’s so fun to picture yourself on a beach with a laptop. Far away from that cubicle with ten square feet of gray walls. Right? And it’s cool to sit back and imagine road trips. And new clothes and so on.

Because those are the rewards. And I’ll be happy to admit, I love me some rewards as much as anybody.

But most people don’t think of a prospecting appointment calendar as a reward. Or personalized company documents. And how about cloud-based storage? Yeah. No. That doesn’t sound sexy at all.

And where’s the reward in documenting procedures from scratch? Or setting up an operations manual? Who cares if that’s some sort of helpful brain dump? Is that really a reward? Seriously?

No, none of those things even remotely compare to beach time. Or ski time. Or whatever you love doing with your spare time. And so most people won’t do any of those things.

It’s much more fun to think about joining that country club. And getting that Lambo. Right? Of course it is. I’d be lying if I said I never did that.

But what I want help YOU see how YOU can actually get to all that stuff. But it takes what I call “front loading.” The upfront work that actually feels like work. But here’s the thing…

It’s the upfront work, that most people won’t do, that can change your life.

And you can truly build your dream lifestyle. Even if wanna work from a laptop on a beach.

It’s easy for you to say you want that.

But building requires time and tools. And dreams require skills. So, if believe in yourself (and you should), then you should get ready to invest in yourself. Because YOU have to make your dreams come true. Other people are too busy working on their dreams to get yours for you.

But RondaReady YOUniversity can help you go for your dreams with confidence, focus, and purpose. My System has already helped lots of five figure business owners go to six figures. And lots of six figure business owners go to seven figures.

Are you interested in getting those kinds of results? And would you like to see your beach or mountain dreams come true. It’s easy for you to SAY you are. But will you start the hard part today?

Let’s talk about how YOUniversity can help you get there a lot faster. Click or tap that button, below, and book a free call with me.

Another day slipped away yesterday. What about tomorrow?

Yesterday was Wednesday (as I write this). And today is Thursday. So, you know what that means. Another day has come and gone. And that means another 24 hours of your life has slipped away. Especially if you’re struggling to figure out what to do with your time and your life.

There’s a famous quote from Scarlett O’hara, in “Gone With The Wind.” When things would get tough for her, she’d sort of shrug it off and say something like, “I can’t think about that right now. If I do, I’ll go crazy. I’ll think about that tomorrow.

For tomorrow is another day.”

And that’s true. Except tomorrow never truly gets here. Because tomorrow, when it’s Friday, I won’t call IT tomorrow. IT will then be “today.”

So, what does it all mean?

It means TODAY is the day you either get things done or you don’t. TODAY is the day you at least start to get Ready for all your tomorrows.

Henry Ford, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, said, “Before everything else, getting ready is the secret to success.” So, he knew how tomorrow turns into today whether you’re Ready or not. And, by the way, your success (or failure) depends on whether you’re ready or not, too.

So, that’s why you gotta know your Vision. And a clear vision for your life and business takes focus.

Maybe you never want to be a billionaire or own a multi billion dollar corporation. And maybe you just wanna build a business around your passion. With enough success to meet all your needs and some of your wants and desires. And those are awesome goals. But guess what?

Another day is gonna go by whether you’re ready or not.

So, set up a System to Get Ready, Be Ready, and Stay Ready.

And the first step to make that happen is to get a clear vision of where you want to go. That’s why the first stage I take my students (and clients) through is called “Envision Your Future.”

When you go through the “Envision Your Future” stage, you take eight, fairly simple, important steps. And you can reduce the time it takes when you follow my blueprint for success. And that’s what RondaReady YOUniversity is all about. YOU and your success.

But, to get the most out of it, you gotta follow the steps in order. And when you do, it’s amazing how much easier it’ll be to get the results you want in life.

I’d love to show you more about what YOUniversity is and how it could help YOU. Like how you could leap frog over so many of the hurdles in life and business. So, book a free call with me or a RondaReady team member as soon as you can. Click or tap the button, below. Don’t let another day slip away.

Bad idea for an art business, in case you wanted to know

I stumbled upon a website that claimed to give some tips for starting your own art business. But it would be a bad idea to link to that website. And here’s why.

Because it’s a bad idea to start a business this way.

The article said, “One of the first steps is to develop a robust and unique idea. This will set your business apart from competitors and attract customers.”

Of course, it’s a good idea to think up (and develop) your own concept. But don’t be focused on that whole “robust and unique” part. Because that could get you nowhere fast. For example, there’s no shortage of coffee shops out there. Right? So, why would anyone start another one? I mean, c’mon. How robust and unique would you have to be to sell a good cup of coffee to people?

Anyway, the article said these are the next steps. “market research and ensuring demand for your product or service is essential. You’ll also need to establish a solid business plan, including identifying target customers and outlining financial goals.”

And actually that “market research” and “demand for your product or service” should be your first step. Once you know there IS demand, that’ll give you much more to go on when you develop your “unique idea.”

Then, the article said, “From there, it’s time to choose a legal structure for your business and obtain any necessary licenses or permits. Finally, creating a brand identity and establishing a presence through marketing and networking will help you successfully launch your business.”

Those are good ideas, but…

The information is broad and vague. And it certainly doesn’t show you how to RUN your own art business. In fact, the article stopped after “successfully launch your business.”

LAUNCH is WAY different than RUN.

Almost anybody can launch a business.

But only savvy business owners, who understand what it takes to RUN a business, can expect to be in business for the long haul. And if you’re creative, wouldn’t you prefer to profit from your creativity for as long in your life as possible?

That’s a big reason why I developed RondaReady YOUniversity. Because I know what a difference it can make in your life when you build the System to RUN a business. Or even get the best job possible, if that’s what you prefer.

I’d love to talk with you if you’re about to get out there in the business world. And I’d love for us to see if YOUniversity could help you reach your dreams a lot faster. I believe it can. Let’s find out. Click or tap that button, below, and book a free call with me.

It’s a bad idea to put it off.

Business owner mindset took him down the drain

Ryan (not his real name) researched business websites. And he found out everything he could (he thought) about how to start a startup. Because he wanted to have a confident business owner mindset. And he wanted to be sure he could look, sound, and think like a business owner. Plus, he wanted to build a business that might actually support him and his family for the rest of their lives.

So, Ryan put on his business owner mindset and jumped in with both feet.

Oh yeah, he also jumped in with his bank account. Well, that sorta makes sense. After all, if you’re gonna think like a business owner, you gotta put your money where your mouth is. Right?

So, Ryan followed all the typical business advice. And he…

  • Bought a snazzy new suit
  • Upgraded his phone to the latest, greatest
  • Bought a stylish analog watch
  • Grabbed a high quality briefcase
  • Got a “professional haircut”

And he practiced confidence. So, he stood up tall with good posture. He smiled more confidently. And he got better at making eye contact. Because, obviously, eye contact is KEY to a business owner mindset.

But Ryan’s business didn’t immediately take off like he thought it would.

So, he worked even more on his “open body language.” Because he didn’t want other business owners to think he was unapproachable. Plus, he learned proper “business lingo.” Because he wanted other business owners to see he knew a thing or two about business. Then, he worked on his handshake and other body contact. Because that’s how friendly business owners are supposed to be. Right?

After that, Ryan decided to be more extroverted and fill up his social calendar. Because “people won’t think you’re a successful business owner if you’re not out and about all the time.”

Yeah, Ryan worked day in and day out to be a confident business owner.

But his sales and profits didn’t increase enough to even pay for one pair of his professional “business shoes.” And that doesn’t include all the other stuff he bought on credit.

His efforts were genuine and heartfelt. But Ryan aimed at the wrong people. Because his business was targeted to consumers. Not other business owners. So, he developed some great skills and certainly improved the look of his closet. But he wasted his resources a little bit. And eventually closed up shop.

And sad to say, Ryan’s story isn’t rare.

Maybe as many as 99% of business owners deal with or suffer from the same issue. And it’s something I call a lack of System Think.

You and I weren’t born with a natural ability to System Think. OK, maybe you’re that one in a million exception. But I’m not. Most people aren’t born with it. And most people don’t learn it from parents or schools. Because those parents and schools didn’t learn it either.

But System Think is truly a game changer when it comes to business…or just about any part of your life. I know because it completely changed my life for the better. And I turned it into a complete System I’ve shared with businesses for 20 years to help owners go from 5 figures to 6…and from 6 figures to 7.

Some of the most successful and well-known business owners out there use some form of System Think. And a lot of them don’t even seem to care all that much about the whole business suit look anymore.

Because, these days, you can practically run a business from your phone.

And that doesn’t mean you don’t still need a business owner mindset. But it’s crucial to know how and where to set your mind. And that’s System Think. And the best time to learn it is when you first start out.

If you have young adults (or maybe it’s you) who are about to decide what they’ll be and do, I believe this is an investment in their future you should seriously consider.

And I’d love to talk with you more about it. And answer your questions. Book a free call with me, using the button below, and let’s talk soon. Because the sooner we talk, the sooner we can make good things happen.

Entry level jobs are fine unless you wanna start somewhere else.

I’ll start out by saying I have nothing against entry level jobs. In fact, when you first “enter” the workforce, those are basically the only kinds of jobs you’re likely to get. Because that’s where you start. At the entry.

But you don’t have to start with entry level jobs.

That might sound a little contradictory. But I’ll explain.

Do an online search for a “business school near me.” And you’ll see, pretty quickly, how the top results won’t be all that helpful. I did that kind of search. And the first page results were almost all college and university websites. And the top three Google maps results had nothing to do with business schools.

Now, take a closer look those college links. And you’ll find descriptions like “It can also be an important step toward a bachelor’s degree.” And “Through career-oriented courses, these programs help students build the skills and industry background information to qualify for entry level jobs in a specialty field.”

Does that sound like a good return on investment of your time and money?

It can take a ton of both, your time AND money, to go to college. And to think it could lead to an entry level job in a specialty field doesn’t sound all that appealing. Right?

Before you think I’m slamming all colleges and what they offer, I promise I’m not. But for many entrepreneurial people (like you) the humongous cost of college is just not necessary. Check out these college cost stats:

  • The average cost for one year of college tuition and fees at four-year schools in 2020-2021 was $19,020.
  • The average total cost for a year of college at a four-year school, including tuition and fees, on-campus room and board, books, supplies, and other expenses — was $35,551. That’s roughly $142,000 over the course of four years.
  • In 2020-2021, the average tuition and fees among four-year public colleges was $9,375. At four-year private nonprofit schools, it was $35,852.

Wow. An average of $142,000 for 4 years of college. And let’s say you have to get a loan for that. But let’s say you could get an interest free loan. And let’s say you find an entry level job that pays $30 per hour (which is probably quite a bit more than you’ll actually find). It would take you about 4733 hours just to pay back your loan. That’s over 2 years at a full time job. And that doesn’t include all your vital living expenses.

But that’s just not necessary anymore. Not for most people anyway.

Especially since almost anyone has access to almost unlimited online resources. For just about any industry or field of study.

And among those almost unlimited resources is one I highly recommend. My very own RondaReady YOUniversity. It’s where you actually can get your very own “RONDA” to help you figure things out and focus on your dreams. And you can go into the real world with real skills to RUN a business.

And you can start doing all that for less than half of one semester in a typical college.

But it’s not for everybody. Because it’s for only those kinds of learners who are Ready to apply what they learn. If you (or someone you care about) is that kind of person, we should talk. Because I’d love to share how I believe I can help. Click or tap the button below. Book a free call with me right now, while it’s fresh on your mind.

Dr Seuss books and a quarter for your thoughts

Dr Seuss books are popping up, for sale, all over again. Hmm…whatever could it mean? Could it even remotely have something to do with the fourth quarter frenzy. You know, that thing that happens every year from September to December. And, yes, I realize that’s four months and not a quarter. But if the shoe fits…

By the way, you know Dr. Seuss books almost didn’t happen. Right?

In fact, if Theodor Geisel (whose middle name was Seuss) had been a typical writer, his books would probably have never been published. Because typical writers, back in his day, typically gave up their writing careers after about one or two rejection letters from publishers.

Imagine if you’re one of those children’s writers and your first book idea gets rejected nearly 30 times. Do you think you would have made it to 20? Or even 10? Well, Dr. Seuss didn’t give up. And his first book, “And To Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street” was finally published after dozens of rejections.

Thank goodness he had a decent career at Vanity Fair and Life magazines as an illustrator and humorist. And he was actually successful as an illustrator for advertising. He even worked on ads for Flit insect repellent.

How’s that for training to be a children’s writer?

Something I think about is how that 28th publisher must have felt when Dr. Seuss’ book sold over 6 million copies. Yeah, I bet some buttons were popping off his vest.

OK, I’ll stop betting you, now.

But did you know Dr. Seuss’ books have sold over 600 million, worldwide? And it doesn’t take much to calculate that even if he only made a dollar off each one, he became a very wealthy writer.

Now, that’s the perfect picture of persistence. That must have been where Horton got his. (that’s a Dr. Seuss inside joke)

But before the good Dr. could be that persistent, he had to know who he was, what he wanted to do, and where he truly wanted to go. I don’t know what sort of system he had for figuring that out. Or if he had one at all. Maybe it all happened by happy accident.

But I doubt it.

And I’ve said it many times. If you don’t know who you are and where you’re going, how will you know when you get there? That’s why I developed RondaReady YOUniversity. To help aspiring writers, website creators, multimedia producers, and business owners of all kinds figure out who they are. And what they’re good at. And what they want to do. So, I can help them figure out how to get there.

If you (or someone you care about) is about to head out into the real world, I’d love to help you (or them) get started in the right direction. With a System to get a clear vision and mission. So, book a free call with me, at the link below, and let’s talk about it. And do it today.

Don’t be one of those people Dr. Seuss described when he said, “Simple it’s not, I’m afraid you will find, for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.”

Selfishness is good. Well, when you do it like this.

Yep. I stand by it. Selfishness is good. But I don’t mean the “it’s my half gallon of ice cream and nobody else can have any” kind of selfishness. No, this is something WAY different.

Selfishness is good when you apply it to improve yourself.

I get to see or work with business owners who give a lot more than the bare minimum. Like a mechanic who went the “extra mile” to help me get my car repaired fast. Or the dog trainer, I work with, who meets client on the weekends because that’s the only time they can make it.

Yeah, it’s really something how unselfish behavior tends to be a common theme for the most successful business owners and entrepreneurs. But that unselfish behavior happens because they were selfish first.

I know it sorta sounds contradictory. But it actually makes sense.

Because, in a way, you have to be self-ish.

For example, when you get up each morning and Get Ready for work, what do you think about first? Your family and your household. Right? Sure. Because that’s exactly as it should be.

And the same is true when you start out in the wonderful world of business. Before you can serve others well, you gotta make sure you can put your money where your mouth is, as the old saying goes.

In other words, you gotta know you can DO the work before you try to GET the work. Because your skills, along with impeccable attention to customer service, can help you seize AND WIN the day.

Then, people (aka: clients and customers) will reward you with little green certificates of appreciation or some form of digital compensation. So, that means a fatter bank account. And that’s good for your “self” and the others in your home.

Now that’s a mighty fine System.

And when you just start out, in the real world, you’re probably gonna have to be pretty selfish. So, these kinds of thoughts will probably ring around in your brain…

  • I have to do everything myself.
  • Nobody else knows how to handle my business.
  • I can’t afford to hire anybody else or lose control.

But you’ll only think those first thoughts after you’ve established a clear vision of who you are. And where you wanna go in your life.

No System can magically change things overnight for you.

But RondaReady YOUniversity can help you get the clear vision part. And it can help you line up some mighty important details that’ll help you have the real skills you need for the real world. That kind of selfishness is good. Focus on YOU and your vision. Then, you can serve others well.

So, if you’d like a very real alternative to the enormous cost of college (which, by the way, doesn’t teach you how to run a business), then I’d love to talk to you more about it. Book a free call with me at the link below.

Real jobs don't always look like they used to

It used to be that if a young person liked to draw or paint or compose music, someone would tell them to get their head out of the clouds. Parents explained to those kids how “real jobs” weren’t about art and music. Because real life meant you had to work hard.

And that’s still true. Real jobs require hard work.

But these days, it’s possible to be an artist or composer and turn your creative skills into a lucrative business. Because these days, your potential customers can be just about anywhere in the world.

And that reminds me of a couple of interesting world changers I talked about a while back. Albert Einstein and Steve Jobs.

Einstein loved to float around in his sailboat and think. One story I read said he was even arrested one time for wandering around a beach. They must have thought he was a crazy vagrant. But he just allowed himself to get lost in thoughts.

And Steve Jobs said he relied on procrastination to help him jot down ideas. And doodle. But you might say some of those doodles turned out pretty well for him.

So, creative minds aren’t necessarily pie in the sky minds anymore.

Yeah, now your creativity can be a huge benefit. Even if you don’t have any time in your life to procrastinate and doodle and float around in a sailboat. Because you’re YOU. You’re not Einstein or Steve Jobs. And you know what? Those guys could never have been the YOU that you are.

But you can’t just decide to “be creative” and wait for all the potential clients and customers to make a bee line to you and your stuff. Far from it. No, you gotta get a clear vision of who you are. And where you wanna go. And then you can figure out the best way to get there. The way you do that is with a System.

A System can help you get to your “sailboat” or “doodles” sooner than you imagined.

And my RondaReady YOUniversity is that kind of System. Because it helps you focus on who you are, what you want to do with your life, and what it takes to get there.

A clear vision with a clear purpose. Things they don’t help you do in school or college. But I wanna help you with your vision and purpose. Because I love helping people achieve their dreams. So, we should talk about it some more. Click or tap that button, below, and book a free call with me. Do it today. Your dreams await.
