Miracle on your street

Here’s some more of the classic Christmas movie theme today. And this one is the “Miracle on 34th Street.” The main stars were Maureen O’hara, John Payne, Edmund Gwenn, and a very young Natalie Wood. In case you’ve never seen the movie, it’s about a guy named Kris Kringle who claims to be the real Santa Claus.

Miracle on your street

And it’s almost a miracle how the movie was produced and released.

According to interviews, memoirs, and other recorded documents, they had to overcome a lot of challenges. Because they wanted to release the movie in May. And that’s because the head of Fox Studios, Darryl F. Zanuck said that’s when more people go to the movies. And the Christmas theme was supposed to be a secret.

Challenges included getting Maureen O’hara to come back to United States to be in the movie. Apparently she had recently moved back home to her native Ireland just after the end of World War II. And then, they had to market the movie to not look like a Christmas movie. So, the promo posters they used made it look like more of a love story with O’hara and Payne in the forefront.

Then, there were all the logistics. It’s not easy to film a major movie without drawing attention to the theme.

I read how Arthur Jacobson, the assistant director, used nine cameras at the same time to film the Macy’s Parade on Thanksgiving morning.

And Maureen O’hara, in her memoir, talked about those outside shots during the actual 1946 parade. She said, “It was a mad scramble to get all the shots we needed, and we got to do each scene only once. It was bitterly cold that day, and Edmund and I envied Natalie (Wood) and John Payne, who watched the parade from a window.”

And they used real crowds to speed up production.

Besides the Macy’s Parade, they also filmed Edmund Gwenn and Natalie Wood in a scene where they were in the actual Macy’s Department store cafeteria line. During a weekday lunch rush no less. Plus, they filmed Maureen O’hara during a shopping spree with “real” people around. Seems like that wouldn’t be easy.

Then, for promos of the movie, they used a “fake” producer who walked around the studio backlot. And he’d casually and “accidentally” bump into stars who were at work. And, of course, they said wonderful things about the upcoming Miracle on 34th Street movie.

When you consider all those planning details, behind the scenes, it’s almost a miracle things went so well.

I read where even the house, at the end of the movie, is a real house that’s still around. Not just one of those fake Hollywood facades. So, think about it. Somebody had to find the “right house” and figure out the best time to go by and film those scenes.

But you know why all those details worked out and the movie was a big success? Because the people in charge had their famous Hollywood system for production. They knew what they needed. And they knew how to delegate to the right people.

And it’s no different now. I mean have you seen how many people it takes to make a superhero movie?

So, maybe you think, “Sure. That’s Hollywood. They’ve got the big bucks to hire anyone they need.” But that’s not the point. Because even with big bucks, you gotta have a system to find, contact, and hiring “anyone they need.”

And, if you own a business, so do you.

Good news is…you don’t need a Hollywood blockbuster budget. Because you can get my RondaReady system. I won’t tell you it’s a real Santa Claus. But I WILL tell you that when you plug your business into it, and do the work, it’s almost like a miracle on your own street.

Yeah. Get my system, and Get Ready to Be Ready and be the highly organized CEO of your business.

Because I truly do wanna help you…

Christmas week and all through the house

Christmas week. Don’t you just love it? Even though this year it’s probably not as fun for most people as usual, it’s still a magical time of the year. And I like to remember it like a scene played out in the old black and white movie, “The Bishop’s Wife.” If you haven’t seen that movie, give yourself a gift and watch it this year.

The first scene from the movie showed shoppers during Christmas week.

Cary Grant’s character, in “The Bishop’s Wife,” was an angel sent to Earth to help a family figure out what’s important in life. And as the movie begins, you follow him as he walks through a wonderful little town full of hustling, bustling shoppers. They all scurry around in the snow to get those “last minute gifts.”

It’s that Golden age of Hollywood version of the perfect town during the best time of year. Pristine white snow is everywhere. Little kids sing carols. And other kids, with their faces close to the shop windows, are mesmerized by electric trains and dolls and animated displays. Somewhere, Santa rings a bell.

Lots of moving parts as Cary (aka Dudley, the angel) walks through it all with a smile and a helping hand when needed.

And when I watch that movie now, I think about how Dudley is so in control. Even as others around him struggle to stay on track. And his secret to be calm and cool? Because he’s on a mission. So, he’s focused.

Of course, it’s only a movie. So it’s only natural Dudley knows just what to say or do…or how to help. Because his lines are in the script.

But imagine for a minute you could be like Dudley.

Imagine you have just about everything under control during Christmas week. And every other week. And I only say “just about everything under control” because some things in life can’t be planned for. Well, at least not specifically planned for. No, the only way you could be sure of it all is to have a guardian angel. A Dudley.

But the next best thing to a Dudley, is my guardian angel RondaReady system. It can help you focus on what’s important in life. So you can stay focused…on your mission.

And the next best thing to my system is a subscription to my RondaReady emails. Because I share tons of tips and ideas, for free. Literally hundreds of them scattered all over RondaReady.com. So, you could have them delivered to your inbox or come here to the website and look for them.

Either way you choose to connect, I’ve got lots of ways to help you Get Ready to Be Ready and be the highly organized CEO of your business.

A friend of mine recently shared a nostalgic story about what it was like when he was a kid and went to the movies. And I could see it in his eyes, as he talked. It must’ve been something mighty nice. He said one of his favorite parts was the preview of coming attractions. Because that’s when he got ideas for what movie he’d see next.

And the preview of coming attractions was a presentation, too.

Not just some boring words on a big screen. My friend said they showed lots of upcoming movies with clips and interviews. And then there were cartoons. And a lot of times there would even be a guy who got on stage and announced giveaways. It sounded like a fun time. And that didn’t even include the two movies they showed.

I won’t tell you what my friend said he paid for all this. Because it’ll just sound like it couldn’t possibly be true. Oh, who am I kidding? Of course I’ll tell you. He said he’d take his 50 cents, stop off at a drug store, get a candy bar and a soda (Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, 7up, etc.) and still have enough for the movies. Previews and all.

Yeah, times have changed…just a little. Right?

And I shared this story with you because I’m having a preview of coming attractions of my own. No, I’m not going into the movie business. I’m still in the Business business. But I’ve got some new stuff I’m gonna be talking about and sharing with you, shortly and through the month of January.

My preview will be attractions designed just for you my studious reader.

And that’s all the hinting I’ll do for now. But be sure to watch for it starting next week.

It’s gonna be a whole new way to tap into my RondaReady system. And you don’t wanna miss it. It’s designed especially for newbies. But even established business owners will love it. And I put it together because I truly do wanna help you…

Inside out and still outside looking in

If you live in a fairly large city just about anywhere, you’ve probably seen this too. And it makes me sad. Restaurants attaching sophisticated tents to the side of their building. Because, according to certain kinds of mandates, most restaurants aren’t “safe places” to eat right now. So, owners look for ways to take the inside out. But then what?

Even inside out, the areas are closed off in this winter weather.

Yeah, the tented sections have the flap windows zipped up. And so, when you go eat in the tent, you’re outside the restaurant, but still inside a closed area. Sort of inside outside…in. Wow, it’s so confusing.

But maybe you don’t eat out much and none of this affects you. So, why even bring it up? Right?

Because no matter what kind of business you run, you could come up against something like this. Maybe it won’t affect you the way restaurant owners are feeling it right now. But no business is immune to changing policies, rules, and regulations.

So, what can you do about it? Or is there anything you can do about it?

Well, my recommendation is to set up a system you can use for any kind of business you have. Or any kind of business idea you come up with in the future. And get so good at your system that it becomes second nature. So familiar you couldn’t imagine yourself doing business any other way.

Then, map out more streams.

No, I’m not suggesting you become an explorer or map maker. The streams I’m talking about are income. Other businesses. Or other ways of doing what you do…for different markets. Because when you set up those other streams, you put a powerful tool to good use. Look out…it’s a big word. Diversification.

And it’s just a big word for something I already said. Different. Markets, audiences, clients, and customers. The more ways you can serve others, the less likely a shutdown will shut you completely down.

And the great thing is…you can plug into that system you already set up…over and over.

Well, at least you can with my RondaReady system. And it’s the best because it has the one thing no other system has. Me. And that’s how I know it can work for you. Because it’s already working for dozens and dozens of other businesses. Some are probably like yours. And some are probably completely different.

Doesn’t matter. But what DOES matter is that you plug your business into my system right away. And then I can help you Get Ready to Be Ready and be the highly organized CEO of your business.

And I truly do wanna help you…

Business life AND personal life

Too busy. A client of mine had that problem. And I’ll share that with you. But first…Have you ever started out going in one direction but ended up going another? And have you ever discovered answers to questions you didn’t even know you had? And I’m talking about in your business life and your personal life. Because if you’re a business owner they can sort of morph into each other. Ever notice that?

Busy business life equals busy personal life

And being busy ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. Because before you know it, busy becomes TOO busy. And then you end up playing catch up. All the time.

Like Claudia, a client of mine who’s a property inspector…work that requires fairly strict scheduling. And Claudia found herself playing that too busy game. But instead of me telling you all about it, here’s what she said…

“Didn’t know what to expect. I was enlightened in ways that I did not imagine. Because I was always too busy thinking about just getting things done both with my business and personal life that I was unable to cope with other things to put into my schedule. I didn’t know how to go about it and was afraid of losing what I already had going on. But everything that Ronda taught me gave me a different perspective and now I am better able to manage my time to fit the activities in that mean the most to grow my business and my personal development. I look forward to being even more of an asset to my business but even more to myself! Ronda, you are fantastic. And it was great to work with you!”  Claudia G. – Property Inspector

And it was great to work with Claudia, too. Because she paid attention and worked hard to plug into my  RondaReady system. It wasn’t just me “teaching” her stuff. No, I helped her set up a system that can help her avoid the “too busy” quicksand from now on.

And how do I know?

Because my system is hard at work, doing that for scores of businesses, right this minute.

When you’re ready to give up the “too busy” syndrome in your business life (and your personal life), then you’re ready to Get Ready to Be Ready. And ready to be the highly organized CEO of your business.

And that’s when I can help you…

Stay Ready,

Failure IS an option

Despite what some popular t-shirts and bumper stickers might say, failure IS an option. Or maybe a better way to put it is, it’s a probability for about 90% of new businesses. And yet, in spite of those odds, according to some data from business trends sources, new business applications all across America have increased over last year’s numbers. Yeah, you read that right. It happened this year. 2020.

Failure IS an option

But most people still don’t understand how failure is an option.

Or so it seems. Because how else could you explain more business applications during a year like 2020?

I have a theory on why that’s true. But I wanna focus on the failure option right now.

In 2019 the failure rate of startups was around 90%.

And I’ve seen research that says you have a 1 in 5 chance of business failure in the first year. By the second year, your risk of failure is around 1 in 3. And if your business survives till the fifth year, you still have a 50% risk of failure. But what if you hang in there 10 years? Sorry, but your risk of business failure is about 3 out of 4.

So, the odds are against you in the wonderful world of business ownership.

That’s why you gotta just forget about your dreams. Move on.

NOT!

So what, if the odds are against business success. In spite of those odds there are business success stories all around you. Every year. And practically every day. So, how do those lucky business owners and dreamers beat all those terrible odds?

I’ll let you in on a little secret. Luck ain’t got nothin’ to do with it.

Business owners, entrepreneurs, and dreamers beat the failure odds by developing a system. A plan. Automated and repeatable processes to stay on track.

And you don’t have to start from scratch. Because I’ve already done it for you. Yeah, the best system going is my RondaReady system. Because it’s got the one thing no other system on the planet has. Me! Your very own R.O.N.D.A. – Responsive, Organized, Nonstop, Digital Assistant.

So, whether you’re one of those record number of business startups this year or you’ve already been at it for a while, get my system. It’ll help any business owner who’s willing to do the work. If that’s you, then I can help you  Get Ready to Be Ready and be the highly organized CEO of your business.

I had several reminders, this morning, that today marks 221 years since the death of George Washington. And while that might not seem to have anything to do with your business, I think I can make a case for how it does.

Before he was President, George Washington was a commander.

In fact, at the Second Continental Congress John Adams nominated him to be Commander-in-Chief for the War of Independence. And I’m impressed by Mr. Washington’s acceptance speech…

“I beg they will accept my cordial thanks for this distinguished testimony of their approbation. But lest some unlucky event should happen, unfavorable to my reputation, I beg it may be remembered by every gentleman in the room that I this day declare with the utmost sincerity I do not think myself equal to the command I am honored with. As to pay, Sir, I beg leave to assure the Congress that as no pecuniary consideration could have tempted me to accept this arduous employment at the expense of my domestic ease and happiness, I do not wish to make any profit from it. I will keep an exact account of my expenses. Those I doubt not they will discharge, and that is all I desire.”

Wow, George didn’t “wish to make any profit” from his new position. But he still promised to “keep an exact account of my expenses.”

And as it turns out, those expenses included a lot of duties and attention to detail. Washington had to select and supervise generals, command an army, and coordinate with the new Congress. And he had to oversee the training of a unified militia and keep a check on supplies and all the logistics.

Doesn’t that sound a little like your business responsibilities?

And doesn’t it feel like you’re up against overwhelming odds a lot of the time?

But you know what’s great about living now instead of during George Washington’s time? You can be in more places at once. And you can practically run all your operations from your phone. Almost instantly. Poor George had to wait weeks, sometimes, just to get a reply to a tactical letter.

Another huge advantage you have over George is my RondaReady system. You can plug your business into a system our first President couldn’t even have dreamed about. And you can use this system to be the highly organized CEO of your business.

In other words, you’ll be in charge of your troops faster than you can say George Washington.

Stay Ready,
Ronda

Deadlines aren't important...unless you actually wanna get things done

I love to think back to when I was a kid at this time of year. Moms would plan and bake and shop for gifts. Dads would go to the basement or attic, look for the lights, and string ’em up on the house. Kids would try to stay away from the gifts under the tree. And everywhere you looked people were hustling and bustling to meet their Christmas deadlines. Because they knew it would be here way too fast. Which is kind of odd when you think about how everybody uses the expression, “It was as slow as Christmas.”

But anyway…I’m not trying to share a Christmas story with you today. Just some memories and thoughts.

Deadlines aren't important...unless you actually wanna get things done

And Christmas shows why deadlines are important.

Well, at least, they’re important if you actually want to get things done.

Because if your idea of a deadline is “I’ll get to that when I get to it,” then don’t be surprised at how often you don’t get around to it. In fact, it’s more likely you’ll completely forget about what IT is.

But some entrepreneurs and business owners think deadlines limit them. And they believe they’re more creative and efficient when they can just “shoot from the hip” as the old expression goes. But I can’t tell you how many times clients of mine have discovered the exact opposite to be true.

And it’s just so in-your-face logical that I wonder why more business owner wannabes can’t see it. In my book and in my course I compare it to a road trip. Or, let’s say, maybe it’s a drive across the country to visit the family for Christmas. For some reason that seems appropriate right now.

Well, if you don’t know what roads to take, or what bad routes to avoid, you might still get there. But it’s gonna take way longer than if you had followed a map.

And deadlines help you follow your map within a predetermined timeframe. So you don’t waste your time, the one commodity you can never get back.

A great system can help you with that.

You can plug your business into that great system and get your own 24/7/365 R.O.N.D.A. Your own Responsive, Organized, Nonstop, Digital Assistant.

My RondaReady system can help you get organized, get more clients, and manage your time like never before. But only when you plug in and work it like your business life depends on it. Because it does.

So, give yourself the gift of success. Get Ready to Be Ready and be the highly organized CEO of your business.

And I truly do wanna help you…

Strategize to win again and again and again

You’ve heard this before, right? “If you can’t run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.” Sure, that sounds good. Because nobody wants to seen as a little fluffy Pomeranian weakly barking from the porch. And of course, porch is a metaphor for the business world. But to “run with the big dogs” you gotta strategize to win. And I’m super helpful at that. But it’s not just me who thinks so.

Strategize to win or don’t strategize at all.

That’s always been my strategy for strategizing. Wow, I’ve gotta be more strategic with my conjugation. (See what I did there?)

But anyway…like I said…I’m not the only one who thinks I’m super helpful with strategies. Check out a marketing professional from an online software company said…

“Ronda has been a pleasure to work with over the past few months! She is a terrific coach that truly challenges you to create quantifiable goals and holds you accountable to meeting those goals. Ever think you are too much of a “big picture” person that won’t have success implementing your grand ideas?

Well Ronda is super helpful in strategizing with you on how to build the foundations for a successful business. Because she breaks down step by step the building blocks needed to achieve your grand vision, all while making it manageable with weekly and monthly benchmarks. And after a few sessions with Ronda your entire year will be mapped out, not just time spent in your business but on your business and away from your business as well…yes that even means vacations.

The best part about working with Ronda is how empowering she is. Because it is not just about helping you build out goals to tackle on your own, she provides support along the way and seems to always find a way to encourage, motivate and inspire. So, I would highly recommend working with Ronda if you are someone who has a goal of where their business should be but needs a quantified and effective plan set forth to accomplish and be held accountable along the way. And an investment in Ronda is an investment in the success of your business.” Justin D. – Marketing Professional Online Software Co.

See? Justin said I’m super helpful, too. Thanks Justin.

But an even better way I can help is my total business system all set up for you online. My RondaReady system is your own private R.O.N.D.A. for way less money than my one-on-one clients pay. So, follow Justin’s recommendation. And plug your business in today.

Then, I can help you Get Ready to Be Ready and be the highly organized CEO of your business.

Because I truly do wanna help you…

An advertising plan is even better with a backup plan

I was just thinking. You might be in advertising mode for…oh I don’t know…let’s say…hmm…how about we call it The Christmas Rush? Sound good? If so, you’re in luck. Because I have an advertising plan for you.

Here are 10 easy steps to create your Christmas Rush advertising plan

First, start with your goal in mind. Like I always say: if you don’t know where you’re going, how will you know when you get there? Second, figure out your budget. Because if you don’t know how much you can afford, you won’t know which platform or platforms to put your ads on. And you might run out dough way too fast.

Third, do the best you can to know your demographics. Because if you don’t know who you’re talking to, how will you know what to say? Makes sense, right?

Fourth, be sure you know exactly what you’re gonna try to sell. And you’d be surprised at how many business owners are clueless about this. So, they end up tossing money out the advertising window…so to speak.

OK, fifth. Have you ever heard of a SWOT analysis? It stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. What do you do best? And where could you use a lot of improvement? Do you know about a market no one’s doing a good job of filling? That’s an opportunity. And try to figure out how competitors might beat you.

Sixth thing to consider is what sets you apart from the competition. And this is where your SWOT analysis can help you. Whatever makes you stand out is a potential winner in your advertising plan.

Alright, we’re up to seven.

Figure out what your advertisements are gonna be. And then figure out where you’ll run them: online, signs, radio, tv, all of the above. And decide when. Because timing can change costs pretty dramatically.

For the eighth step, consider the good ol’ WOM advertising. Yeah, word-of-mouth is still one of, if not THE, best ways to get the word out about your deals. So, set up some ways to work your WOM.

The ninth step is something I talk a lot about in my trainings. The follow through. Because if you do all those other steps, but you don’t actually launch your ads, you got nuthin’. So, launch it!

And finally, step number ten. Analysis. Because if you don’t keep track of your results, you’ll just have to start all over, from scratch, the next time you wanna advertise. And that’s a HUGE waste of time. Because most of the work you do this time will help you go much faster next time.

OK, wow! That’s a lot. Well, it can be if you haven’t done it before. Or if you don’t have a team to do it for you. But whether you do it all yourself or you hire a team, you need a system to track it all.

Enter the system I think is best. My RondaReady system. It can help you track all those steps. But it has the one thing no other system in the world has. R.O.N.D.A. Yeah, me.

So when you’re ready to be the highly organized CEO of your business, I truly do wanna help you Get Ready, Be Ready, and…

Stay Ready,
Ronda
