Go ahead. Slave away.

Maybe you’re OK with your business dying long before you do. If so, skip everything I’m about to say. And go slave away. More power (and sleepless nights) to you. But if you’re one of the very few who’d rather build a business that supports you instead of vice versa, stick around.

Let’s first just address the elephant in the room question on your mind. Is this going to be difficult? Heck yeah! And you should know, up front, this takes 100 times more effort than just working your business? But, will it be worth it? Absolutely!

I’ve seen business owners use what I’m talking about to take their six figure businesses to seven (and beyond) a whole lot faster than they thought they’d be able to.

And this is something major multi-billion dollar corporations all have. Without exception. Even the ones who act like they’re different from all the rest. Apple. Google. Amazon. They do this. Because they all know their companies will fizzle if they don’t do this. Statistics support this. But, hey, maybe you can defy all the odds and build something miraculous. And not just in your head. Because maybe you’re the person who’s figured out how.

If so, I know you can make trillions of dollars. Because every other business owner is gonna wanna get what you got.

But I’m guessing, since you’re reading this, that you don’t have what I’m talking about. And it’s also because most small to medium sized business owners don’t have enough focus for things like this. I mean, like I often say, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

By the way, this applies to solopreneurs, too.

And even if you never want to hire anybody for as long as you’re in business, you should still do this and have it working for you. Because, there might come a day when you’re ready to sell your business. And if you’ve done what I’m talking about, your business might be 10 times more valuable. Heck, maybe even 100 times more valuable.

You might already know this, but Monday is coming.

In fact, at the time I mention this, Monday is coming in only 3 days. And I know a lot of people…even entrepreneurs and business owners…don’t like Mondays. Poor little day. What did it ever do to anybody? Oh yeah, it starts off the work week. And nobody likes that. Right? Wrong!

Go-getters and risk takers are glad Monday is coming.

Because it’s another opportunity to build something awesome. And make some more money. And more money is more fun. Right?

Let’s say you were on a sea cruise (who else besides me is ready for that right about now) and the ship crashed or sank. But you woke up on an island only to find out you were the only survivor. And let’s also say you didn’t know where you were. And you ended up being there for long time. Oh yeah, one more thing. You  also didn’t know how long you were unconscious.

Sounds bleak, right?

But let’s say you had plenty of coconuts and fruit. And you even figured out a way to catch fish, cook ’em and eat ’em. So, your job each day would be to get up, gather food, catch fish, and prepare for another day of life. Right? But here’s a question…

Do you think you’d care about what day it was every day? Or don’t you think you’d be more concerned with doing a great job of staying alive each day. And you’d figure out, real quick, how to be the most organized you could be. Because your survival instinct would kick in.

Yeah, one day would be as good or bad as the next. And you probably wouldn’t even keep track of which was which. Oh sure, you might wanna keep track of how many days you were there. But I wouldn’t be surprised if even that became unimportant.

Everywhere at once is an impossible dream

Have you ever heard the song, “The Impossible Dream”, from an old movie called “Man of la Mancha?” There are a couple of lines that say, “This is my quest…To follow that star. No matter how hopeless. No matter how far.” Yeah, that’s sort of what trying to be everywhere at once, online, can feel like. But you’re gonna see plenty of marketing experts, who make plenty of money, telling you to be as many places as you can on social media. But how?

Even if you can sort of be everywhere at once, you can’t do it without a platform and a system.

Think about the journalists and on-camera talent on TV and radio, for example. And think about how much they influence the way people all across the country see (and feel about) things. So, what’s their big advantage? It’s their platform. And their platform allows them to steadily pump out the stories. And that gives them more influence. Which gives them a more prominent position in your mind.

Now, that’s pretty powerful. No wonder marketing gurus suggest being on as many social media platforms as you can.

But that takes a lot of time. And effort. And maybe a lot of people, too.

Unless.

Because a system helps you organize all your best ideas, thoughts, products, and services. And the right system is gonna help you control your schedule. Instead of it controlling you. Why business management systems don’t work

If you’ve been following my articles and videos for any length of time at all, you might have done a double take at that headline. After all, I call myself the System Savant. And I sell the RondaReady business coach system. So, why in the world would I even remotely want you to think business management systems don’t work? Short answer? Because they don’t…for most people.

Why business management systems don’t work for most people is simple.

Most people give up. And most people don’t have what it takes to be an entrepreneur and business owner. But why is that? Because it’s hard work. Much harder than showing up for a job, clocking in, putting in the hours, clocking out, and going home.

But lots of business motivation speakers will tell you the glossy side of owning your own business. And you’ll see lots of videos of “six figure” (or seven figure or eight or more) “stars” next to their sports cars and mansions. So, it’s easy to be fooled into thinking that could be you, too. All you need is a video camera and internet access and you, too, could be running a business from the beach.

Oh, if it was only that easy.

But it’s so hard. Especially when you first start. Because, like I’ve said, you’re on your own. And you’re the CEO, marketing director, office supplies buyer, web content producer, customer relations manager, and schedule and appointment keeper. Basically you’re the all-around button pusher.

And most people won’t stick with it.

But I believe that’s because they don’t have a business management system to help.

“But, Ronda, I thought you just said they don’t work.”

I did. But I’m talking about the quitters. And that’s not you. Right? You understand how all the hard work is gonna have huge rewards. Like control of your own time. And investing in your own ideas and products and services. And so much more.

Recovery Time

Let’s grab a cup of coffee (or your beverage of choice) and just relax a little bit. Because I wanna talk about recovery time. And in spite of what some well-known workaholic business gurus might say, everybody needs at least a little of this kind of time.

Done correctly, recovery time is when you’re totally away from your business.

That being said, it can also be when you form some new, creative ideas. Because you’re actually relaxed and your mind is free to think up new stuff. And how much away time you need or want is clearly a personal choice. But I wholeheartedly believe that personal fulfillment requires time away from work. And time to cultivate stronger relationships with loved ones.

You can work alone AND connect

Some people prefer to work alone for long hours. And they enjoy solitude for days on end. Google even serves up lots of suggestions for work alone jobs. Are you one of those people like this?

Do you work alone because it’s your preference?

I get it. Believe me I do. Because I know there’s a lot of governmental laws and policies that have taken the joy out of hiring help. And, as a matter of fact, they make it mighty hard to have full-time employees on your own terms.

Plus…maybe you don’t wanna have to deal with the hassles of placing job ads. And hiring knuckleheads who have to be told every move to make every day…who wants that? Right?

Then, there’s the whole tangled web of tax, bookkeeping, benefits packages, and more. Who wants to wade through all that red tape? Yikes!

So, like I said. I get it. There’s a lot of good reasons for being a “one-man band” kind of business. And I certainly would never tell you do it any other way, if it’s what you prefer.

But I will tell you this…you should still do all you can to automate as much of your business as possible. Because there are lots of moving parts. And it sure is hard to keep track of them all if you don’t plug yourself into a good system.

Like I’ve said, many times, your brain shouldn’t be used as a hard drive.

It should be your creative control center.

So, even though you wanna work alone, I encourage you to focus on the parts your creative brain does best. And the right system can help you do that while it takes care of the “boring” stuff. You know…schedule control, emails and replies, etc.

Of course, I believe my RondaReady business coach CRM system could be the right system. But maybe it’s not. There’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all when it comes to business systems. Remodel time – without the pesky dust

Let’s talk about remodel time. Wait a minute. Come back here. Because I’ve got some good news. You won’t need to get out any carpenter’s tools. Or plumber. Or electrician. And no dusty, moldy mess either. But you will need to put on your thinking cap. And I think you’re gonna love it.

Remodel time, but forget the hammer and saw

Remodel time is when you work ON your business.

Where you’re the visionary, the CEO of the business. And when you plan, grow, and envision the next steps. It’s how you stay on the path to get your business to the next level. And the next…and the next.

During the first 1-5 years of building your business, you’re consumed in results time. And you “don’t have time” to work on developing better services or products. No time for new creations and reaching new levels. In fact, the thought of carving out time to do those things can overwhelm you. Because you wonder how you’d ever be able to manage even “one more thing.” But at the same time, you know if you don’t, you might not be able to keep doing what you’re doing without losing your mind.

It’s sort of like raising kids.

Your business is like those kids. The earlier in your business-building process you can start, the better. Then, you can use your time to develop the strategies and systems to get your business more independent of you. Just like the big boys do it.

Want a plug and play business system?

I just read a couple of definitions I’m gonna share with you. The first is this. “A Plug And Play Business Model is a ready made business model which is already set up and selling products or services.” And the second definition is about computers. “Plug and Play (PnP) is a combination of hardware and software support that enables a computer system to recognize and adapt to hardware configuration changes with little or no intervention by a user.”

So, after reading those, I figured I’d better clear something up about the business system I provide for my clients.

It’s certainly not a system you get and immediately start selling your products and services. And it’s definitely not a system that requires “little or no intervention by a user.”

Your business vacation essentials

2020 has been an over-the-top challenge so far. But have you noticed how things are starting to open up again? At least they are around here where I live. And I’ve actually heard some people talk, in hushed whispers, about taking time off. Whoa! Talk about radical. Seriously, there are business owners who are prepared to take their yearly time off. Because they set up their vacation essentials in their system. Imagine how great they must feel right now!

What are the basic vacation essentials?

Well, ask yourself this. “Self, do you really wanna take your laptop and do business while you’re on vacation?”

And if your self says, “No way!,” then you need a system in place that makes sure your presence isn’t required. And your business will run just fine while you’re gone. Do you have that kind of system in place? Or are you still in that everything-depends-on-me mode?

If everything in your business depends on you, then you can’t truly vacate and enjoy time off. And that, my friend, is not a vacation. It’s more like a staycation. Because your head has to stay in your business. And you can’t not focus on it. Because you’ll be too afraid you’ll miss something. Like a potential new client. Or potential new customers. Or that crucial phone call. Etc, etc, etc.

That’s why I’ve said this before. And I’ll say it again. When your business is running on a system that actually works, you can be the CEO of your business. Not just another hired hand.

Now, be honest.
