A good life isn't just for Jimmy, the "mayor"

Who doesn’t want a good life? There’s a question that shouldn’t raise any hands in the audience. Right? Because, of course, everyone wants the best life possible. But it’s not the same for everyone.

For example, I think you could say Jimmy Buffett had a good life.

And it seems weird to say “had” instead of has. Because it just doesn’t seem possible he’s not with us anymore. But not even the relaxed “Mayor of Margaritaville” can live forever.

Author, Ryan White, wrote a book about him, back in 2018. It’s called, “Jimmy Buffett: A Good Life All The Way.” But, in spite of the title, even Jimmy’s life wasn’t good ALL the way. Check out this blurb about the book, and notice what happened.

“Buffett wasn’t always the pied piper of beaches, bars, and laid-back living. Born on the Gulf Coast, the son of a son of a sailing ship captain, Buffett scuffed around New Orleans in the late sixties, flunked out of Nashville (and a marriage) in 1971, and found refuge among the artists, dopers, shrimpers, and genuine characters who’d collected at the end of the road in Key West. And it was there, in those waning outlaw days at the last American exit, where Buffett, like Hemingway before him, found his voice and eventually brought to life the song that would launch Parrot Head nation.”

It’s interesting how Jimmy “scuffed around,” “flunked out,” and “found refuge.” Those sound more like loser references. But a real loser would give up.

And he didn’t.

Fortunately he “found his voice” and wrote a song that launched a good life. And, ironically his good, real life grew out of a fictional place. I like how the book blurb described it:

“And just where is Margaritaville? It’s wherever it’s five o’clock; it’s wherever there’s a breeze and salt in the air. And it’s wherever Buffett set his bare feet, smiled, and sang his songs.”

I can only guess, because I didn’t personally know Jimmy Buffett, that he had a clear picture of Margaritaville when he wrote that song. And he probably had a real good idea of what he hoped to do with it once he wrote and recorded it. He might not have fully realized how much his world would change. But then again, maybe even that was part of his vision.

My RondaReady System Book is an excellent first step, if you need help to define and focus on your Vision. And it helps you go forward in the direction that’s right for YOU. Plus, the book contains a complete System to help you RUN your business.

Now, my RondaReady System will probably never build a legion of “Ronda parrot heads.” But it HAS helped flocks of business owners build their businesses better and faster. And that helped them make more money and have more freedom.

And many of them say they wish they had started sooner.

By the way, your System book is available on Amazon.

The $115 price ($100 for the Kindle version) is a small investment compared to what my one-on-one clients have paid me. Especially when you consider how it can pay for itself over and over as it helps you build a good life. But, it’s for go-getters who wanna go way past starting business.

So, if that’s you, use this link to get yourself a copy on Amazon. I don’t guarantee your success. No one can do that. But it IS a powerful way to help go-getters get going. Is that YOU? Then, go get it, and…

Money flows. So, does it flow to you?

It’s not actual liquid. But money flows. Or, at least, it should. And, as I’ve said before, money needs to flow. Well, if you want it to be of good use to individuals and economies, that is.

I remember when my daughter discovered how money flows.

We had the conversation after enjoying a nice lunch together in one of our favorite restaurants. The subject of tipping the wait staff came up. My daughter offered to pay the tab, but she said she felt like tipping was spending too much.

I brought up the old saying, “What goes around, comes around.” And I added how money is definitely no exception. When you want people to buy your products, services, or information, or even to remember you, it makes sense that you should be doing the same for them. Right?

That’s how bustling, hustling economies are built. And businesses. And even governments.

Matter of fact, the more people try to hold on to money, the less effective an economy is. Think of it this way. If nobody went to Walmart to spend any money, how could they keep even one store open? Much less become a giant retail force.

You’re probably not be a retail giant. Right? And maybe you never want to be one. But you DO want people to pay you for your hard work. C’mon, now. You know you do. So, it only makes sense you should be doing the same for other businesses.

And if that doesn’t motivate you, maybe this will. If you don’t go spend some of your money, you won’t get any new stuff. Uh-huh. I thought that might get your attention.

I could practically write a book about how to make money flow.

Oh wait. I DID write a book.

And it’s available on Amazon.

The $115 price ($100 for the Kindle version) is a small investment compared to what my one-on-one clients have paid me. Especially when you consider how it can pay for itself over and over. Yes, when you buy it, your money flows to me. But then my money flows to others. And we all keep it moving.

So, avoid money stagnation. And use this link to get yourself a copy on Amazon.

Coffee cup test is nothing to get upset about

Have you read or heard about the coffee cup test? It’s a “news story” for some reason. And it seems like a lot of people are upset about it. Although I wonder why they’d be so upset. Here’s some info about it I found in an article on a business website.

“One executive uses the coffee cup test on candidates in job interviews.

He said in a resurfaced 2019 clip that he doesn’t hire people who don’t offer to wash their cup after the interview. Social media users are calling him out for playing a deeply disturbing psycho-social game.”

I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a “disturbing psycho-social game.”

Because he’s the employer. He’s the one who worked hard to build a business that thrives enough to need employees. And if he wants to use a coffee cup test to for potential employees, that’s his prerogative.

And if someone truly desires to work for him and his company, they probably won’t mind the test. And, in a way, the coffee cup test reveals what kind of service a potential employee might be willing to provide. But, I get it. Not everybody will understand that meaning.

That’s why I wrote about hiring and firing in my RondaReady System book.

If you’re a business owner/employer, did you know bad hires can cost you up to 2/3 of an annual salary to replace? Yikes! But you can avoid that with proper preparation. People (translate that to hard workers) want to follow a leader who’s got business under control. So they’ll be able to do a better job. And that happens only when the boss is doing a better job.

Makes sense…right?

Think about this. You wouldn’t want to (or maybe you couldn’t) work for someone who didn’t provide a consistent and predictable workplace. Right? Well, consistency and predictability don’t magically happen. You gotta have processes and procedures. Also known as “a plan.”

Yes, even a plan for new hires.

With the RondaReady System you get lots of information on hiring practices and training. And even how to attract the right talent. But, most importantly, you can make sure you’ll Be Ready to bring on the best employee possible. In other words, you can make those beneficial business owner pain point adjustments.

By the way, my RondaReady System book is available on Amazon.

The $115 price ($100 for the Kindle version) is a small investment compared to what my one-on-one clients have paid me. Especially when you consider how it can pay for itself over and over. And when you work for yourself, you never have to go through a coffee cup test. Just a little incentive there for you.

So, use this link to get yourself a copy on Amazon.

And while you’re there, get yourself a CEO coffee mug. You deserve it.

iPhone 15 could be a shining example of YOU

I’m not an Apple fangirl. But a friend of mine is pretty dedicated to his Apple ecosystem. And I know he’s been holding on to his iPhone 8, waiting for an upgrade he can sink his teeth into. I haven’t spoken to him since the Apple event yesterday. But I bet he’s already checking out the iPhone 15. Because, from what I’ve seen, in the news, it sounds like quite an upgrade.

For example, check out Apple’s iPhone 15 write-up:

“The beautiful, fine‑brushed finish on the titanium bands is achieved through precision machining, sanding, brushing, and blasting. New contoured edges and the thinnest borders ever on iPhone make it even more comfortable to hold in your hand.

The titanium band is bonded with a new internal aluminum frame through solid‑state diffusion. This is an industry‑first innovation, using a thermomechanical process that joins these two metals with incredible strength. And the internal frame is also made from 100% recycled aluminum, which contributes to our overall usage of recycled materials and helps us work toward our 2030 climate goals.”

Is your mouth watering yet? Wait, there’s more.

Apple also describes it as a “Trifecta of tough.” And that’s gotta be a good thing. Right? Here’s how they describe that trifecta:

“A strong titanium band. The toughest back glass in a smartphone. And a Ceramic Shield front that’s even tougher than any smartphone glass.”

OK, I know I said I’m not an Apple fangirl, but that sounds like it would be great for anyone who’s maybe, uh, shall we say, a little clumsy.

And apparently the iPhone 15 will be remarkably resistant. I only say that because it’s what they say next.

“Remarkably resistant. iPhone 15 is splash, water, and dust resistant. What a relief.”

Sounds like you could take it to the beach without worries.

Hmm…OK, it’s got serious potential for me. But the next part I read is something I’m not up on. Maybe this next part means something for you.

“Dynamic Island bubbles up alerts and Live Activities. So you don’t miss them while you’re doing something else. You can easily track your next ride, sports scores, flight status, and more.”

What do you think? Is that something I should check into or be interested in? I know this next part would be great for anyone (like me) who leaves the phone on too much.

“With Always-On display, your Lock Screen stays glanceable, so you don’t have to tap it to stay in the know. Using smart algorithms, iPhone 15 detects when it’s in your pocket or face down. And goes dark to save battery life.”

Alright. Maybe I should give it more than a passing glance. It sounds like it could be powerful enough to be my next computer. Well, if I decide to write another business book on a tiny screen.

Speaking of business book, my RondaReady System is available on Amazon.

The $115 price ($100 for the Kindle version) is a small investment compared to what my one-on-one clients have paid me. Especially when you consider how it can pay for itself over and over. You might never reach the trillion dollar level or build something as popular as the iPhone 15. But you CAN build your own dream better and faster.

So, use this link to get yourself a copy on Amazon. It’s a powerful way to help go-getters get going. Is that YOU? Then, go get your bite of the apple, today.

What’re you waitin’ for, Mac?!

By the book isn't just for detectives

“By the book.” If you’ve watched any detective or crime thriller movies, you’ve heard that phrase. Probably many times. Some police chief is always telling the hard-to-manage detective,

“OK, Mike. But we’ve gotta keep this strictly by the book.”

But what book? And where is that book? And who wrote it? Or is it even real?

Yeah, what they’re talking about is the organization’s policy guidelines. Some sort of document or file that lines out and describes what the policies are for most situations that might arise.

In my business management consultant career, I’ve helped lots of business owners, entrepreneurs, and organizations get things going “by the book.” But in business, it’s the operations manual.

I remember, a particular time, when I helped a couple of my clients set up their operations manual. We filled it with specific policies, processes, and procedures. And when it was finished, the had a much clearer picture of what and who they needed for their client care manager position.

So, they went “by the book” and hired Jen.

And she started her new job with clear directions, training, and systems to follow. That saved my clients a ton of “newbie” time because they didn’t have to start from scratch with their new hire.

Jen quickly became a fully functioning and contributing part of the team.

Customers compliment her basically every day. And they’ve told her she makes them feel valued.

Yes! I’m a firm believer in the power of systems.

And Jen’s example shows a well organized operations manual doesn’t just help you build business better. It can also help you build better, more productive team members.

That’s why my RondaReady business-building book includes a section on how to set up and use your personalized operations manual.

By the way, it’s available on Amazon.

The $115 price ($100 for the Kindle version) is a small investment compared to what my one-on-one clients have paid me. Especially when you consider how it can pay for itself over and over. But, it’s not a passive kinda thing either. It’s for go-getters who just need some help to avoid the stumbling blocks of building a business better and faster.

So, if that’s you, use this link to get yourself a copy on Amazon. I don’t guarantee your success. But it’s a powerful way to help go-getters get going. Is that YOU? Then, go get it!

And when you go “by the book,” don’t be surprised when you detect the secrets to your success. See what I did there?

OK, get started today, and…

Proven path is not always the YOU path

When you’re just starting out, as an entrepreneur, you don’t have to look far to find someone who can “show you the way.” You’ll see statements like, “Give shape to your idea and set up a prosperous business following this proven path to entrepreneurial success.” And “The number one way for startups to scale up to pro level.” And I could share lots more. But you get the idea.

You probably already realize their proven path might not be yours.

I recently saw a business article about an author who says he can help “soon-to-be entrepreneurs”

  • Learn how to think like an entrepreneur by eliminating the negative core beliefs that are holding them back, developing the right mindset for success, and acquiring the habits of the most successful entrepreneurs.
  • Get equipped with the understanding of how best to build a framework that they can use for the first business they launch and every company thereafter.
  • Build the future, from idea to reality, by finding the perfect business opportunity, conducting market analysis, developing business strategy, creating a business plan, creating a competitive advantage, building the right product or service for the right audience, getting traction, and starting a business.
  • Discover the principles to succeed in your startup (and scaling your business) as an entrepreneur.

Sure, you might have some “negative core beliefs” holding you back. But just because you’re starting out doesn’t automatically mean you’re full of negative core beliefs. Right? In fact, you might be the total opposite. You might be so full of optimism and hope that you’re oblivious to negativity.

And, for sure, it’s a good idea to develop good habits that successful entrepreneurs and business owners use. But that’s actually not the first step.

Plus, when someone tells you that you can “build the future, from idea to reality, by finding the perfect business opportunity,” my inner skeptic steps up. And I immediately wonder how someone could find the “perfect business opportunity.” Because when you start out, perfect is a very elusive goal.

Plus, your so-called “proven path” will depend on YOU and your vision.

If you even hope to feel like you started the “perfect business opportunity,” you need to have at least some sort of picture, in your mind, of how that should look.

That’s why my RondaReady Business Book is designed to help you first discover your Vision. And then to help you set up and RUN that business. Even if it’s not “perfect” to start with.

By the way, my book is available on Amazon.

It’s not a $7.99 book you’ll toss into your unread files as you continue down the road to obscurity. And it’s an investment at $115 ($100 for the Kindle version). But it’s an investment that shouldn’t cost YOU anything at all, if you believe in yourself enough to follow through. And it won’t cost you a dime when you implement the steps and add more zeros in front of your business’s decimal point.

Yeah, that all starts with your Vision.

So, use this link to get yourself a copy on Amazon. Yes, I DO call my System a proven path. But that’s only because most of my clients have taken their 5 figures businesses to 6 figures and their 6 figures businesses to 7 figures. And most of them have said they just wish they’d started sooner.

That’s a hint that YOU should start today. Right now, in fact. Get your RondaReady Blueprint today, and…

Self story is all about YOU and yet not selfish

Way back when my kids were toddlers, I told myself a story. And it was a story I loved to hear. So, I repeated it pretty much every day. And this past week I saw a blurb about a book that described my little habit as a self story. Obviously it’s the one you tell yourself. But, sadly, too many stories are negative.

My self story was a totally clear vision in my head.

I had what most would describe as a successful job. Then I had a successful business. But the kind of success I’m talking about was purely financial. Which is good, but not necessarily healthy.

I’m not complaining. Far from it. Because I gained more experience and knowledge in the every days ups and downs that most MBA graduates will ever know.

But my life in the corporate world, and in the hectic world of real estate entrepreneurship was a drain to my soul. Because I had three small children. And I didn’t want their formative years to pass me by while I spent my days (and even some nights) “at the office.”

So, my ongoing self story was a Vision of me working from home. Building a client base on my terms and my time. And every day I’d get that clear picture of me in my home office. Sitting at my own desk. On my own phone. And making my own calls and appointments.

That little book blurb I read said, “Most of the self-stories you tell yourself, the kind of person you say you are and the things you are capable of, are invisible to you. Because they have become such a part of your everyday mental routine that you don’t even recognize they exist.”

I definitely believe that’s true.

And the blurb continued with, “Yet, these self-stories influence everything you do, everything you say, and everything you are.”

And I bet you know, at least somewhere inside you, that’s true. Right?

What you tell yourself, about yourself, can make a huge difference in your life. For the better. Or for the worse. So, I’d say your self story is pretty darn important. Wouldn’t you?

I agree with the author of that book. You’re gonna have to take complete control of your self story, if you hope to create the life you’ve always dreamed about. And you could dive into the psychological neuroscience of it all, if that’s your preference.

But I like to keep things simple.

Because it’s too easy to make things too difficult. Know what I mean?

You could work on uncovering the the truth of how you created the life you have now. And you could “challenge everything you think you know about how your life has been built.” But I believe you can skip the whole going over the past stuff. And simply make a decision. Decide to write a better self story. Starting today. Right now. Decide to move toward that Vision you create. And take your first step toward it today.

Your first step doesn’t have to be my RondaReady System Book. But it’s an excellent first step if you need help to define and focus on your Vision. And it helps you go forward in the direction that’s right for YOU. Plus, the book contains a complete System to help you RUN your business.

My RondaReady System has helped bunches and bunches of business owners publish their self story and build their businesses better and faster. And that helped them make more money and have more freedom. And many of them say they wish they had started sooner.

By the way, your System book is available on Amazon.

The $115 price ($100 for the Kindle version) is a small investment compared to what my one-on-one clients have paid me. Especially when you consider how it can pay for itself over and over. But, it’s for go-getters who wanna go way past starting business.

Starting business is the easy part

Starting business is the easy part. There. I said it. And I stand by what I said. And it’s especially true, these days, because of the little ol’ world wide web. Plus, there are so many “free” or cheap resources you can use that make your startup costs next to nothing. Business owners from the past didn’t have it so easy.

But starting business is only the…well…start.

And that’s why it’s important to know where you’re going beyond just starting business ventures. As I’ve said, many times, if you don’t know where you’re going, how will you know when you get there?

You can find a lot of books, some of them specialized for particular age groups, that show you how to start a business. But there’s a lot less information about how to actually run the day-to-day operations. For example, I saw a young man’s book focused on “teen entrepreneurship.” And he said he wrote the book to “educate other teenagers on what it takes to become an entrepreneur.”

He served up some bullet points for what his book offers:

  • A brief background on the modern business world
  • 4 fundamental entrepreneurship concepts
  • His own entrepreneurship story
  • 9+ businesses you can actually start today!
  • A deep-dive on a few highly successful entrepreneurs
  • Action Steps/Conclusion you can actually implement right now!

And he said he recommends his book for “any young entrepreneur thinking about starting business.”

I’m sure he has some valuable insight for teens who are thinking about the entrepreneur or business owner lifestyle. But I strongly believe it’s crucial to think beyond the starting point. And that’s why my RondaReady System Book starts by helping you focus on your Vision. Then it helps you go forward in the direction that’s right for YOU. And the book contains a complete System to help you RUN your business.

It’s helped scores of business owners automate, delegate, and streamline their businesses with results that include a whole ‘nother income level. And many of them say they wish they had started sooner.

By the way, your System book is available on Amazon.

Passive income websites: A dream come true, right?

Passive income websites practically build themselves. Right? (cue the needle scratch on a record sound). No. They sound great. And, in fact, they CAN be great. When they’re set up properly and working like they should. But they don’t just happen.

What does it take to build passive income websites from scratch?

It isn’t difficult to find professional website builders who’ll tell you they can build 5-page passive income websites. And they’ll let you know the basics you’ll need are:

  • A content-rich Home page
  • An About page with text and images
  • A Contact page with your email, phone number, etc.
  • A Services or Products page that displays your business offerings with words and pictures, and
  • A blog page (which isn’t necessary for every business)

And I remember, back when I looked for help to build a website, one “webmaster” said you can do it yourself. He said, “No prior technical knowledge is needed.” And he added that all I’d need would be a desktop or laptop (PC or Mac, either one), and an internet connection.

Then he laid out the steps to take after that. I’ll just share the high points. And you can see if this sounds like something you’d like to dive into.

  • Buy domain name and hosting for your business
  • Install WordPress at your host
  • Design the About page using text and images
  • Find royalty-free images to freely use on your website
  • Align text, choose fonts and colors
  • Design site-wide header and footer (including logo placement)
  • Create and stylize buttons
  • Find dummy content to download and use
  • Create testimonial sections
  • Insert background and foreground images, if and when necessary
  • Display a functional contact form for visitors to get in touch with you
  • Create a content rich Home page with various sections linking to inside pages
  • Set up your blog and format blog posts (if this is something you’ll need)
  • Add social media links
  • Insert videos in your site to make a point
  • Optimize images for use on the web
  • Enable automated appointments on your site
  • Install plugins for site safety, site speed, and site backups
  • Test your finished website for speed so it loads fast

OK. There you go.

That’s all you have to do to get started. And before you know it, you’ll have the first of your passive income websites earning moolah while you sleep.

What? It sounds like a lot more work than that ad you read about passive income? Yeah, I guess it kinda does, doesn’t it.

And that’s how it is in the real world. Passive income isn’t ONLY passive. It takes a lot of work. The kind of work I call FrontLoading. And FrontLoading is just one of the business-building topics I cover in my RondaReady System Book.

Once you implement the basics, then you’re a huge step closer to passive income websites and other streams of income. Your dreams and ideas will be your only limitation. Get started today, and…

ChatGPT or YOU. There's nothing artificial about it.

Before you call me out on it, I’m not saying it comes down to ChatGPT or you. Because I’m well aware that you can use technology to help make your life easier. And the whole AI thing is another phase of that.

Here’s a “definition” of ChatGPT, according to online sources: Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer. And they describe it as “a large language model-based chatbot developed by OpenAI and launched on November 30, 2022.” You can use it to “refine and steer a conversation towards a desired length, format, style, level of detail, and language used.” And then, with successive prompts and replies (aka: prompt engineering) you can do some amazing things. From art to website content and more.

But which one is better for your business? ChatGPT or YOU?

Yes, I still think that’s an important question. Because I know a lot of people believe AI can replace humans in so many ways. Sure, it can take over a lot of the mundane and repetitive stuff. But it can’t (and shouldn’t) build or replace relationships.

I saw a short ad for a book on the power of using ChatGPT for anyone who is “tired of the daily grind and dreaming of a life where you can work in your pajamas and make money online.” And it appealed to people who “eagerly devour influencer posts about digital nomadism and multiple streams of income.”

Then the ad shared a cold, hard fact. “Statistics show that on average, only 10% of online businesses succeed while a staggering 90% fail within the first 120 days.” But then it shared how ChatGPT “could increase your chances of success” so that you “can tap into a wealth of knowledge and insights that can help take your venture to the next level.”

After that, the ad included some interesting bullet points. Like:

  • Why ChatGPT is like having a super-smart virtual friend and a 24/7 business partner
  • 15 productivity hacks with ChatGPT – get more done in less time and achieve success faster
  • Effectively target and dominate your market, for more customers and boosted revenue
  • A step-by-step guide to starting making money with ChatGPT, no matter what online business model you choose

And here’s some key points to keep in mind.

And these come from that same ad.

“ChatGPT has its current limitations such as not being able to make future predictions and having a limited knowledge base.”

But the author says his book “provides valuable insights to help you succeed in the ever-changing landscape of making money online.”

I agree. It IS an “ever-changing landscape of making money online.”

But there are two things I believe will never change. And it doesn’t matter if your business is totally online or totally in the “real world.” Those two things are: Your products, services, and information MUST have a market to serve. And human relationships are irreplaceable.

So, before you dive into the next bright, shiny object (or technology), be sure you know who YOU are. And be sure you know what you have to offer AND who you hope to serve. That takes Vision.

I wrote and published a book to help you to develop your Vision for your future so you KNOW what you can offer. And that’s your starting place.

By the way, it’s available on Amazon.

The $115 price ($100 for the Kindle version) is a small investment when you consider how it can pay for itself over and over. But, if you don’t believe in yourself enough to implement the business-building strategies my high-paying, one-on-one clients have used to build businesses better and faster, don’t get it.

As you get back to your workweek, use this link to get yourself a copy on Amazon. I don’t guarantee your success. It’s a powerful way to help go-getters get going. Is that YOU? Then, go get it!

Once you implement the basics, you’ll know which one is better for business, ChatGPT or YOU.
