Passion versus purpose: and the winner is

It’s a common, but unnecessary battle inside the minds of a lot wannabe business owners and entrepreneurs. The old passion versus purpose dilemma. And I can see why. Because there are so many business experts telling newbies to pursue their passions. And there are just as many who’ll tell you to find your purpose, build a solid business, and the passion will develop over time.

In fact, I just read a story about how a business owner newbie went to two different seminars on two straight weekends. And, in the first one, the main speaker talked all about how to “pump up your passion.” And the second main speaker, the next weekend, bragged about the “power of purpose.”

I think both models can be true. And the key word there is “can.”

Because it doesn’t have to be passion versus purpose.

I stand more solidly in the “find your purpose” camp. But when you do…and when you find your market…it can stir up a fire of passion no one can put out.

So, maybe you could decide to have a passionate purpose. But, keep in mind, it’s easy to be passionate about something of no interest to anyone but you. And when that happens, you might be surprised at how your passion flickers out. That’s why it’s important to find your purpose, develop a system, and build your business.

And when your success starts multiplying, I’m willing to bet your passion will, too.

Speaking of system…you can shorten the time it takes to build one by years. And the way you do that is to find a proven system you can plug your business into, and plug in.

Guess what? My RondaReady System is the best one going. Because it has something no other system has. Me. And it’s the only CRM with a built in business coach. Or the only business coach with a built in CRM.

Either way you wanna look at it works.

Of course, I don’t guarantee you’ll pump up your passion or discover the power of purpose. But I DO guarantee you’ll be more organized and make much better use of your precious time.

And just in case you’re not ready to invest that much in yourself and your business, I have another option. A low monthly business training session with none other than…ME. The first session will be the first Thursday in February. It’s called RondaReady UNversity. (ask me why)

But the deadline to enroll in my monthly RondaReady UNversity…and be in time for the first one in February…is January 31st. After that, you’ll be too late for February’s session. You could still enroll, but you’d have to wait for the next class in March.

For hands-on how-to coaching on how to build your business better and faster with a proven system, monthly tuition is only $15. Remember, tardiness won’t be tolerated. You can cancel anytime. But dropouts will drop out forever.

Home staging needs a system, too.

Before I launched my own business coaching and CRM system, I was successful in the home staging and home construction business. It’s true. Don’t worry if you can’t picture me with a framer’s hammer in my hand. Because I didn’t drive any nails into any lumber. But I did get hands-on when it came to staging houses for sale.

And there’s actually a lot to being a home staging expert.

But if you’ve never used one, you might wonder why you’d ever need one. Well, it’s because they can help you make your house stand out from other real estate listings. Big time. And especially stand out from the ones with pictures that look like the owner just got up from the sofa to go get another beer during the commercial. Yikes.

And when I staged a home, I had an extensive list of things to do. And a schedule for the best way to prioritize the list. Because when you stage a home, you get the best results (a faster sell) when you can make it look like nobody even lives there.

That’s why we made sure to remove the clutter, take out family photos and other personal items, get rid of pet evidence, and deep clean the whole place. Because there’s nothing like a clean house to show those potential buyers the property has been cared for.

And there are so many other details most homeowners don’t think about when it comes to getting a house ready to show. That’s why I had my system down to a science. Because, especially in the world of real estate, time is money. And maybe even lots more money.

So, my team made sure there was ample lighting everywhere. And we’d rearrange furniture to give it a more stylish appeal. Plus, we paid close attention to details like neutral paint and wall treatments, clean grout, and good-working hardware throughout the house.

And there’s tons more to home staging, like…

  • pillows on furniture,
  • setting the table for dinner,
  • making sure the exterior’s painted and the lawn mowed,
  • fresh towels in the bathrooms,
  • pictures in key places on the walls,
  • making sure there are no empty rooms, and
  • everything dusted before every showing.

And I’m only giving you a general idea of everything we did. But the main point I’m making is how much work is involved in something a lot of home sellers neglect or overlook. So, naturally, being the stickler for a system that I am, I certainly had one then, too. Because I valued my time. And I do even more, now.

If you’re a business owner or wannabe, I’ll bet you value your time, too. And just in case you do, but you’d like some help setting up a system to manage your time way better, you’re in the right place…at the right time.

I’m launching my monthly RondaReady UNversity in just a couple of weeks. And the deadline to enroll…and be in time for the first one in February…is January 31st. After that, you’ll be too late for February’s session. You could still enroll, but you’d have to wait for the next class in March.

For hands-on how-to coaching to help you build your business better and faster with a proven system, monthly tuition is only $15. Remember, tardiness won’t be tolerated. You can cancel anytime, without hassle. But dropouts will drop out forever.

Get in gear. Change the world.

Imagine yourself as an eleven year old girl. Guys, you can skip this one if you prefer. Anyway…you’re a young girl, in the last quarter of the 19th century. And your first job is working for your dad in his machine tool company. Do you think you’d resent it? Or do you think you’d develop a strong interest in mechanical engineering and mechanical arts? Well, a young girl, named Kate Gleason, went the mechanical direction. And she came up with some concrete solutions to get in gear.

Of course, I used a play on words to highlight a couple of Kate’s amazing accomplishments.

After working with her father, she went to Cornell University and Sibley College of Engraving and Mechanics Institute so she could take her mechanical skills to a whole ‘nother level. In fact, she developed her abilities so much that she and her dad designed a machine that could produce beveled gears faster and better and for less money. But so what, right? Who cares about beveled gears?

Well, get in gear and check this out.

Would you believe Henry Ford? Yeah, THE Henry Ford. And he was so impressed with the machine that he said it was “the most remarkable machine work ever done by a woman.”

But Kate (whose grownup name became Catherine Gleason) wasn’t through. Not by a long shot.

She also headed up the sales and finance divisions of her dad’s company. And during that time, she helped it expand into international markets. But she was only getting warmed up.

Evidently the president of First National Bank of Rochester stepped down from his position to join the military during World War I. And Kate…uh…Ms Gleason became the first female president of the bank. At least for a while.

After that (and after the war) she conquered concrete and the construction industry. Well, actually she invented a new method of pouring concrete. And then, she even sold low-cost concrete box (or blocks) houses in East Rochester. So, she was a pioneer for the way lots of other future suburban developments would be built.

OK, I’m pretty sure that, by now, you wouldn’t be surprised to learn how Catherine became the first female member at the American Concrete Institute. Oh yeah, AND the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Ms Gleason only lived to be 67. But in those 67 years she built an impressive list of accomplishments. And I’m sure her mechanical skills played a big part in her ability to stay organized and on schedule.

Because you don’t do all that by accident.

And her life is another example of why I’m always harping on the importance of systems and schedule control. So important that my first RondaReady UNversity class will be deeper, how-to info on schedule control.

But, you better get in gear. Because the deadline to enroll in the monthly RondaReady UNversity sessions…and be in time for the first one in February…is January 31st. After that, you’ll be too late for February’s session. You could still enroll, but you’d have to wait for the next class in March.

Make a schedule like your life depends on it

A friend of mine told me about how efficient his German mother-in-law was. And when I say German, I mean born in Germany, raised during the time of Hitler, and kept her accent even after 60+ years in America. Apparently she was a model for German efficiency. And with eight kids, it’s no wonder she knew how to make a schedule and keep to it.

Could you make a schedule for eight kids and a husband?

These days, that’s almost inconceivable for most moms. Because most moms can’t even imagine having eight kids…much less planning out the daily routine for that many.

But my friend said his mother-in-law would get up before everyone else in the house. And she’d make breakfast for her husband and send him off to work. Then, she’d get dinner started. Even before she got the kids up and started making their breakfast.

And then, she went to the bedrooms, snapped out the wake up orders, and headed back to the kitchen. Once the little troupe was dressed, fed, and sent off to school, this five foot two inch one hundred ten pound woman went back to the kitchen. Because she had to make sure the evening meal was on schedule.

Once she made that kitchen check, she’d work her way through the rooms of the house for cleaning. Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and scrubbing. And only after all that was done did she take a break.

She made sure to get in her afternoon “alone time” with pound cake and coffee.

But after about 20 to 30 minutes, it was time to get back in the kitchen and finish the rest of the evening meal prep. And we’re not talking about sandwiches and potato chips. My friend said there’d be full meals with all the trimmings. Good German food like sauerbraten (which takes a lot of planning all on its own) and side dishes of fresh cut cucumbers and tomatoes. And special mashed potatoes. Maybe even homemade bread.

And I’m told she made the absolute best cheesecake…from scratch.

Wow. I’m tired just sharing the story. Where’s my pound cake and coffee?

Anyway…the reason I bring it up is to point out how important it is to keep your day, your life, and (of course) your business schedule under control. Because if you don’t control your day, it’s for sure it’ll wear you down.

That’s why it’s important you don’t miss my February RondaReady UNversity class on schedule control. How to make a schedule and much more. And it’s the first Thursday of February. Just a little over two weeks from now.

The deadline to enroll is January 31st.

After that, you’ll be too late for February’s session. You could still enroll, but you’d have to wait for the next class in March.

For deeper-dive, how-to coaching on how to build your business better and faster with a proven system, monthly tuition is only $15. Remember, tardiness won’t be tolerated. You can cancel anytime. But dropouts will drop out forever.

Even the Dewey Decimal System beats your whatever system

Believe it or not, America had libraries long before we had the internet or computers. And believe it or not they could be incredible time wasters. At least that’s what one young man thought way back in In 1876. And he was only twenty-four at the time. He published what he called “A Classification Subject Index for Cataloguing and Arranging the Books and Pamphlets of a Library.” Also known as the Dewey Decimal System.

Melville Dewey devised the Dewey Decimal System because he was obsessed with time.

Or to be more exact, he was obsessed with saving time. So much so that he shortened his name to Melvil Dui instead of Melville Louis Kossuth Dewey. Eventually he stuck with Melvil Dewey to save confusion. But to say he was obsessed with saving time is no exaggeration.

Mr. Dewey’s system organized a library based on the division of all knowledge into 10 groups. And he assigned 100 numbers to each group. For example 000–099 was general works. And philosophy and psychology were 100–199. Religion was in 300–399 and social sciences were found in 400–499.

And there are other divisions, but you can look those up if you’re interested.

The main thing is, Mel (see, I shortened his name even more) came up with kind of a shorthand so people could find books in a library much faster. Because, before that, libraries classified their books based on a “whatever” system. In other words, when you asked the librarian where a book was, they might look it up according to book color, or size, or title, or name of author, or…whatever they could remember.

So, thankfully Mr. Dewey cleaned up those “citadels of disorder” with his system.

Now, before you get the wrong idea, believe me. I’m not obsessed, on that level, with saving time. And I’m thrilled that these days, when I want a book, I can just look for it online and order it.

But it IS so crucial to organize your business and your life so you don’t waste time. And that’s why I focus, quite a bit, on schedule control in my RondaReady System. Because I don’t want entrepreneurs and business owners to work every day in the “whatever” system. And it’s why my first RondaReady UNversity class is a deeper-dive, how-to on the subject of time management…which I prefer to call schedule control.

So, the deadline to enroll in my monthly RondaReady UNversity…and be in time for the first one in February…is January 31st. After that, you’ll be too late for February’s session. You could still enroll, but you’d have to wait for the next class in March.

It all started with an idea

Here’s something pretty cool. At least if you’re a video gamer. Did you know that a guy named Ralph Baer applied for a patent on a TV game system he designed on this day, January 15th, in 1968? And did you know that his patent led to the first home video game machine, known as the Magnavox Odyssey? So, Ralph is considered the father of the video game industry. And it all started with an idea.

Mr. Baer’s game console came with dice, cards, and other stuff to play different games. And it could display three, different sized, square dots and one line on the screen. It was all shown in monochrome black and white. And the dots would do different things depending on which game was played.

Plus, the players could put some sort of plastic thingies on the screen to show other visuals for each game. And they controlled their dots with the knobs and buttons with a hand controller. Sounds a lot like video games even these days.

And considering how clunky the technology was back then, it sounds like Ralph was pretty darn good at coming up with systems.

Uh-oh…you knew I was gonna get to that sooner or later. Right? And the point I’m getting to is…no matter what system you come up with or plug into…

It all started with an idea.

But it finished, and succeeded, with the follow through. And follow through is so much easier when you stick to a schedule and tell your time what you’ll do. Instead of letting time just slip away from because you’re not sure what to do.

And that’s what I’ll be teaching in next month’s RondaReady UNversity session. Schedule control. But I won’t just tell you what. I’ll also show you HOW. With tips, tools, and strategies I’ve used to help business owners go from 5 figure businesses to 6 figures. And from 6 figures to 7.

So, the deadline to enroll in my monthly RondaReady UNversity…and be in time for the first one in February…is January 31st. After that, you’ll be too late for February’s session. You could still enroll, but you’d have to wait for the next class in March.

For hands-on how-to coaching on how to build your business better and faster with a proven system, monthly tuition is only $15. Remember, tardiness won’t be tolerated. You can cancel anytime. But dropouts will drop out forever.

It all started with an idea to help entrepreneurs and business owners, like you, plug into a proven system and RUN with it.

Learn while you earn is a great benefit of business

I remember, when I was in high school, how I wanted to make my own money. Just like lots of other kids. Because I wanted to buy clothes and shoes and, eventually, maybe even a car. So, just like lots of other kids, I put my application in for jobs. And I didn’t realize, then, but just about any job a kid can get falls under the category of learn while you earn. Right? Because you don’t have any real skills when you’re young. After all, you’re still learning.

And being able to learn while you earn is actually pretty cool.

In fact, I just read an article about a company that takes that even a step further. They teach students to code and help them to prepare for a career in tech. And they even include tuition and what they call “a living stipend monthly while enrolled in the training program and for three months after graduation.”

They say they do that “to support you during your job search.” And “the amount is based on the cost of living where the training provider is located.”

Plus…get this…they say “the living stipend is not expected to be repaid…” Because they want students to be able to focus on succeeding in their training. And they also want students to be able to go out and find a job without worrying about basic living expenses.

Wow! Now, that’s what I call learn while you earn, plus. And if they had something like that when I was younger, I didn’t know it.

But somehow I, and who knows how many others, still managed to start and run successful businesses. And it occurred to me that business is sort of an earn while you learn part of life. Don’t you think? Because even though you have a great product or service, and a dream, it doesn’t mean you know all you need to know. Especially when you first get started.

So, you gotta figure it out as you go. But you gotta pay the bills, too.

And the better you get at what you do, the more money you can make. But sometimes the learning part can take way more time than you ever thought it would. There’s business analytics, measurement and projections, tracking, hiring and firing, delegation, online infrastructure, schedule control, and more.

And that last one, schedule control, is maybe the most important. Because when you don’t take control of your time, it’s almost a guarantee that someone, or something, else will.

That’s why my first RondaReady UNversity session, the first Thursday of February, is gonna focus on schedule control. You might have heard it called time management. But which would you rather do? Try to “manage” all the moving parts of your business? Or take solid control?

Yeah, me too.

So, the deadline to enroll in my monthly RondaReady UNversity…and be in time for the first one in February…is January 31st. After that, you’ll be too late for February’s session. You could still enroll, but you’d have to wait for the next class in March.

Time limits: not for geniuses like us, right?

Time limits, schlime limits. Deadlines are for people who have to live by the clock. Not for creative and inspired entrepreneurs and business owners like us. Right? I mean, c’mon…how can you set a genius down and expect him or her to produce brilliance by the hour? It’s just unthinkable is what it is.

So, time limits are masterpiece killers.

After all, would you rush Vincent Van Gogh? Or Leonardo da Vinci? Or how about Michelangelo? Certainly not him. Because he painted the Sistine Chapel with a depiction of God connecting with Adam. How in the world could you expect him to work by the clock?

Uh-oh. Turns out somebody did try to rush Michelangelo. And give him time limits and ultimatums. They even made a movie about it back in 1965. It was called “The Agony and the Ecstasy.” And it starred Charlton Heston as Michelangelo and Rex Harrison as Pope Julius II.

And apparently Pope Julius didn’t like how Mikey took so much time on the ceiling of his famous chapel. So, Julius would give the artist a deadline and then stay away for a while. But when he returned, and the work wasn’t finished, there’d be a heated exchange. The Pope demanded a time limit. And Mikey demanded creative carte blanche.

In the movie it sort of worked out for both of them.

But in real life it’s always time limits that win the day.

Successful business owners learn to use them to increase creativity…not destroy it. And that’s part of what I’ll be talking about in the first RondaReady UNversity session, on Schedule Control, coming up the the first Thursday in February.

If you’re the kind of entrepreneur or business owner who’s interested in making the most of your most valuable commodity, time, you don’t wanna miss this. So, JOIN before the January 31st deadline. After that it’ll be too late. And tardiness will not be tolerated. Plus, then you’d have to wait a whole ‘nother month to join RondaReady UNversity.

Transition words flying across the screen

After sharing hundreds of messages with you, through my blog and emails, I’ve learned a lot more about transition words. There’s even a plugin in my WordPress account that helps me to see when I use enough or too many of them in what I write. So, it’s sort of like having a grammar coach watching over my shoulder.

As it turns out, transition words keep your writing on track.

And apparently they help you write in a way more people like to read. Who’d have thunk it, right?

But (and that’s a transition word, by the way) I’d say it’s pretty important to write in a way that’s easier for people to read. Wouldn’t you. Because you don’t want your message to fall on deaf ears and blank faces. After all, those kinds of ears and faces don’t tend to make good customers or clients.

It’s just another example of how important it is to have the right tools for the job.

And, if you’re an entrepreneur or business owner, your job is to get the word out about what you sell. So, you should get it out as right as you can the first time. Otherwise, you end up doing it over. And maybe over and over and over. And that’s what I call schedule control failure.

In my RondaReady System, I have lots of information and tools for schedule control. Because I’ve found, after working with hundreds of clients through the years, how much more successful they become once they get control of their time. Instead of it controlling them.

And that brings me to my topic for next month’s RondaReady UNversity session.

Maybe you call it time management. Or maybe you think it’s your to-do list. And some people follow goal setting processes. But I prefer to put all together under the umbrella of what I call Schedule Control.

And I’ll be taking a deeper dive into schedule control in February’s RondaReady UNversity session. You can learn to get control of your time so you can control your business better. Just like my WordPress plugin is my grammar coach, the RondaReady System should be your business coach.

But the deadline to sign up will be January 31st. So, don’t put it off. Sign up today, and I’ll help you Get Ready to Be Ready and be the highly organized CEO of your business.

Stay Ready,

One down and only 51 more to go

OK, one down. Give yourself a good pat on the back and Get Ready. Because there are fifty one more to go. And if you haven’t guessed what I’m talking about yet (but I bet you have) I mean you finished up the first week of 2021 yesterday. Whew! It’s been seven days of challenges. Right?

But it’s one down with plenty of challenges ahead, too.

Yeah, if you’ve lived for longer than a couple of decades, you know every single week of every single year has its own set of challenges. Sometimes they’re brand new. But most of the time what you face is really more of the same.

And what you face might be totally unique to you and your business or industry. But every business has a couple of things in common with every other business.

You’re in business to serve others and make money.

So, it’s pretty simple. Do what you do. Serve your market or audience or clients or customers well. And profits should be the result.

But maybe you’re stuck. And maybe you believe you offer great products and great service, but profits haven’t panned out the way you originally dreamed. If so, maybe you need to tweak some things.

But who’s got time for that, right?

I know you’re busy working your business. And rising up to deal with strange, new business mandates. And just plain working hard to make sure your lights stay on, the heater works, and food is on the table. So, where do you find time to “tweak some things” and get better profit results?

Well, as it just so happens, I’ll be talking a lot more about that in my first RondaReady UNversity session coming up the first Thursday in February.

I call it UNversity because it’s not like regular university business classes. And when I say “regular business classes,” I mean those places where you invest hours and many thousands of dollars to learn how to get a job. And I’ve been there…done that. But what those classes fail to do is give you the tools to RUN a business.

So, if you’re a business owner, or you wanna know how to own a business that works for you, I recommend you skip “school” and go to UNversity.

It’s a mere $15 a month, less than 50 cents a day. But if you’re not ready to invest even that much in yourself and your business, then UNversity isn’t for you. No problem. But if you wanna move ahead and start setting up a system to help you build your business better and faster, then…

The enrollment deadline for the first session of RondaReady UNversity is midnight (Mountain Time) on January 31st. So, if you wanna get in on the deep-dive, how-to for schedule control, don’t delay.

Join now, and Get Ready to Be Ready and be the highly organized CEO of your business. And…

Stay Ready,
